    The Soundtracks for each characters are different between US & Japan. On top of Cammy saying Spiral Arrow & Cannon Spike in the Japan, She says Cannon Drill & Thrust Kick in the US Release. Not to mention Dee Jay saying Slash & Max Out in both Japan & US Respectively

      It’s like that in the arcade versions as well. There was a Dreamcast version of SSFIIX (Turbo) released in Japan only. But, it has a secret menu that you can access if you beat the game with each character and you can select an English language version with the bosses in the US order and Cammy and Dee Jay having their US voices.

      Why did Nintendo of America make their 16-bit system look different from the rest of the world like Japan, UK, Europe? And the cartridges are different shapes, US are rectangle and the rest of the world they are curved on the front. US is ok but I like the look of the Super Famicom and the UK SNES.

      @@robkrasinski6217 The difference in cart shapes was NoA's means of blocking import games. A couple plastic tabs in the SNES cart slot physically block out the SFC carts. If you take them out SFC games will fit.

      @Judgment Storm - 👍. I did that to my SNES back in it's day to play imports like Contra 3, Final Fight Guy, SF2, Naxat Pinball Jaki Crush, and Batman Returns. SNES takes too much flack for being boxy while we literally have current consoles that ARE boxes and even feature it in the name! Super Famicom design is way overrated. The 2-tone purple of the SNES is far classier than that spammed masonic/chinese button scheme of the Super Famicom. SO many Chinese KOs use this same 4-color scheme, as did the Dreamcast..... and I fucking hate it to the max.

      SNES Super Nintendo hardware couldn't deliver the best/closest experience as it didn't have the same technology as the Super Street Fighter ll arcade game a 16 MHz 68000 CPU, 900 sprites on screen, 4096 colours on screen, 322 Mbit (40 MB) size, Palette 16,777,216 colours it wasn't the best/closest experience you had to get Super Street Fighter ll FM Towns, PS1, Sega Saturn, Sharp X68000

      @@jasonlee7816 At least it wouldn't be as worse than Street Fighter Alpha 2 on the SNES when it comes to sacrifices. I would have liked that there's Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo on the SNES as well, with the introduction of Super moves and Akuma.

      Only for colour, it was missing loads of things the Megadrive version had, like voices and the music playing through both rounds, hell the Super Nintendo did not even have the announcer say 'Round 1, fight.'

      @@heilong79 I had US version (SNES) using game genie. It had character voices. E.g. Ryu wins. The Pal UK version strangely didn't

    Technically all music and sound effects sound different is just that is more noticeable with some bgms.
    If you analyse the music with an spc music player you will notice that the "sorround" effect is active on all sound channels in the american soundtrack there are other differences but it seems they wanted a more echoed sound for the american/ european release.
    Another difference between japan/american/ european versions is in the tournament mode, in the american version the anouncer speaks each fighter s name but is silent in the japanese and european versions.
    Also in the american version the anouncers voice is cut too early while pronouncing "USSR", while in the japanese and european versions he finishes correctly.

    Notei maiores diferenças nas músicas da Cammy e Guile. Não sei se é a gravação ou a versão do jogo, porém o som da esquerda está mais alto do que o da direita

    Pode ser só minhas caixinhas de som, mas parece que as vozes na versão japonesa soam levemente mais claras, e na versão USA levemente mais abafadas. No SNES a memória mais lenta para se reescrever é a de som, e geralmente é ela que exige um a 3 segundos extras em transições de tela. Só disassemblando o código pra saber, mas um palpite é que entre a versão japonesa e a americana eles possam ter otimizado algo nas samples utilizadas nas vozes e nos instrumentos das músicas, ou reduzido apenas um pouquinho o samplerate, reduzindo assim o tamanho das samples e consequentemente reduzindo o tempo de carregamento de transição entre telas. Pode reparar tabém duas coisas: diferente do arcade e do Mega Drive, a música não continua atocar entre o primeiro e o segundo rounds. No SNES, quando termina um round, exatamente antes do narrador falar "you win", há um tempo muito curto de pausa no jogo. Reparem que as animações do cenário paralisam por uma fraçã ode segundo. Esse tempo parece levemente maior na versão japonesa. Isso acontece provavelmente por que a voz do narrador não estava carregada na memória (pois na memória estavam as samples da música e as vozes dos golpes dos personagens, e isso já devia ter enchido os 64kb). No momento que o snes carrega novas samples tudo para, ele tem esse "gargalo" de bus na memória, e provavelmente por isso que os desenvolvedores decidiram interromper a música entre os rounds. No momento que a voz "you win" do narrador é carregada na memória, algo da música ou das vozes dos lutadores tem de ser apagado. Na transição em fade out é preciso carregar novamente na memória o que havia sido subreescrito. Essa pausa levemente maior na versão japonesa ao final do round também dá a dica que algo está diferente nas samples do jogo, mais otimizado, possivelmente menores na versão USA.

      As vozes do Street no SNES são bem ruins até, eu não curtia esse samples e o drive de som que a Capcom usava no snes. O jogo tournament Fighters da uma surra no Street em questão de vozes e qualidade dos samples, com certeza o drive de som do turtles tournament Fighters deve fazer streaming de samples.

    A música tema do Fei Long na versão americana parece ser ligeiramente acelerada ou está um tom acima

    A versão americana pode ter usado HI-ROM e a japonesa LOW-ROM, o que explicaria a diferença de velocidade nas transições de tela. Já as diferenças nas músicas também existem na versão arcade, a do Feilong por exemplo, é ainda mais notável na versão arcade do que no SFC/SNES.

    Bom talvez o "loading" da versão americana sendo mais rápida pode ter sido simplesmente mais tempo para otimizar o jogo durante a localização (que provavelmente foi feita internamente na Capcom) e aproveitaram para "finalizar" algumas musicas dando retoques.

    I've made a small research: EU rom have same sample quality with Japan rom. US rom have lower sample rate 5500hz (some even lower) instead of 6000hz. At first to have quicker load as shown in the video, at second to free space for character names samples. Only US version have the name samples.

    Lembro da mulekada da época falando de uma locadora que já tinha o Street antes das demais, antes do lançamento. Provavelmente foi uma locadora que comprou a versão japonesa original.

    Ah, en esa época, a medida que salian las nuevas versiones de SF esperábamos que los personajes se vieran favorecidos por mejoras en sus diseños, especialmente Ryu y Ken que les faltaba un dedo en la posición de lucha y tenían la cara como aplastada... ni que decir de Guille, que en la versión doméstica perdía todo el atractivo gráfico de los arcade. Pero no, eso no ocurrió jamás. Capcom usó los gráficos de baja resolución de Snes y lo trasladó a todas las versiones domésticas, una pena.
    Otro aspecto tan lamentable fue que Capcom en las posteriores entregas no tuvo la delicadeza de agregar un solo fotograma en las retaguardias.

      @@jasonlee7816 no hay razones para cambiar algo que funciona, mejorarlo implica gastar tiempo y recursos, lo cual supongo que lo consideraron innecesario.
      Además, supongo yo que hacer algo mejor a la versión de SNES para Nec o Sega (en Sega y Nec podría haberse lucido una mejor versión para Sega Cd y Pc Engine Cd) no habría sido una buena idea, no creo que Capcom quisiera llevarse mal con Nintendo, quien entonces era líder indiscutida del sector doméstico y subía o bajaba marcas a su discreción (a diferencia de lo que ocurre ahora en que no hay una compañía que monopolice el
      Mercado, ni siquiera lo logra Microsoft a pesar de que lo intenta desde el 2002).

      ​@@petripeekoo3016 Those were the original names. When Capcom made Street Fighter for the North American version, they were afraid of a lawsuit due to M. Bison sounding like Mike Tyson so they rotated the names of those 3 characters. They couldn't name the boxer as "M Bison". They assigned to to the "Dictator"

    Clearly some infight sound effects (hadoken etc) are more clear in Japan version. That means that they purposely reduce the sample quality in American, in order to reduce size. That's why it loads faster.

    Parabéns e obrigado pela matéria! Você foi a 1" pessoa que eu vi abordando o assunto desde quando comprei a versão americana no lançamento em 1994 onde também tinha notado essas diferenças.. Acredito que a versão americana teve uma leve perda nas vozes, devido a quantidade serem maior nessa versão, onde no modo VS é falado o mome de todos os personagens, diferente da versão japonesa! Particulamente, achei as vozes do Guile, Ken e Ryu melhores na versão japonesa, e algumas musicas melhores na versão americana!

    To be honest, it was hard to spot the difference in both consoles. However, I think the super famicom was more crisp, made the characters sound grainy in a way but in a good way, plus like Cammy saying spiral arrow in Japan and cannon drill in America. Oh and the super famicom is slower to load in. Also, fei long's theme sounds different from American version...a bit off.

    I can't say I've ever noticed the censorship as it was always pretty minor.
    I've got both Japanese version of Mortal Kombat 1 and 2 and both are censored on the Japanese version! Green blood and black and white fatalities.

    Tive as duas versões na época: 1o a japonesa paralela, mas as falas em japonês e o nome correto dos chefes me incomodavam profundamente, então troquei o japonês com um senhor chamado Oliveira com um original americano dando uma diferença $. Isso em meados de 2002, ele tinha uma barraquinha das várias de games que tinha ali na parte de baixo da saída do metro no Anhangabaú. O melhor dia foi sair mais cedo da faculdade e dar de cara com aquele controle da Capcom, novo, na caixa, tenho até hoje!

    I'm trying to combine music themes from Japan and USA versions that sound same [excepting Honda, Sagat, Bison and Fei Long cuz high pitch], both OSTs are nice, but a mashup could sound better I think

    También habia diferencia en la voz de Cammy, lo que decia al ejecutar sus movimientos especiales, escuchándose mas claro en la versión japonesa. En general las voces y sonidos parecían mas claras en la versión japonesa... Lo se porque tuve ambas versiones Simultáneamente.

    Talvez eles utilizaram uma fast rom na versão americana, as músicas e algumas falas dos personagens possuem diferenças até na versão original dos arcades, censura talvez seja para não correr o risco de ser classificado para um público mais adulto e restrito, mas o que sempre me incomodou nesse jogo foi terem removido as falas iniciais de round 1,2,3, fight e final round fight

    super sad that the narrator does not pronounce "round 1,2 fight" because I like the snes version better than the mega drive version

      It was memory limitations and the SNES processes sound differently. Same reason why the game pauses and the music stops to say you lose/win. Genesis the music could play through between rounds 1 and 2. But the sound is worse on the Genesis. I would get the PS2 version of Super Turbo or emulate the US arcade version for the best experience. There you will have both winners don’t use drugs and virtual audio screens. The 30th anniversary and stadium versions don’t have those screens. Only US versions have the drug screens like PS2 and arcade.

    La voz de Cammy es distinta, en esa época un amigo tenia la versión Americana y yo la japonesa... Me gustaba mas la versión japonesa por el sonido de las voces, sin embargo el cartucho americano se veia físicamente mas elegante.

    O som das músicas é muito limpo na versão americana, digo que até prefiro a trilha americana do SNES mais do que a versão original de Arcade! Porém a falta das vozes "Round" e "Fight", as censuras nos diálogos, no sangue e os finais dos personagens com cenas faltando estragam as versões de SNES de SSFII pra mim.

    Vou ter q falar um detalhe competitivo, assim com a versao arcade da SSF2 e SSF2 xmaster ambas japonesas tem algumas difetenças na jogabilidade, pega o Zangief e da o comando de pulo neutro mais cima e soco forte ou medio, se vc acertar o adversario creio q em counter é stum no primeiro hit, ou stum atras do outro, mesmo se ja stunou antes, na versao srm ser japonesa nao stuna. Testa ai q vai ver, alem da da Japan ter a AI mais facil. Kkk VC decide agora. Papo de competidor aqui k essa snes e Sfc é a mesma coisa. Jogabilidade diferente sim tambem. So dei 2 exemplos.

    La diferencia más notable que encontre fue que le subieron la nota musical al tema de Feilong. Por cierto, me gusta más las músicas de la version de Sega Genesis

    Kind of funny how the 16-bit consoles got ports of SSF2, but the 32-bit consoles got ports of SSF2T.
