For living so close to the German border, the people of Enschede have a very standard Dutch accent. I wonder how many there understand more than an average amount of German.

Grappig eigenlijk, hoe iedereen zich uitdrukt goed te voelen door het weer en dat het weekend is begonnen. Logisch dat iedereen dat zegt, maar toch.
One thing you have to know about the dutch, we always talk about the weather, and it's mostly complaining haha. One sidenote: some of these were not "native people" and i don't mean that in a bad way, but maybe somehow maybe say that in the video so people who want to learn dutch don't think thats proper grammar or something like that. Not trying to sound mean, since their dutch was awesome. (maybe ask if they originated here)
Thank you for your comment! Yes, some of the people we interview are not native speakers, but if we include their interviews, it means that their level is good enough to be understood and to don't confuse our viewers. Of course, there still can be mistakes, but we try to correct them in the subtitles. :)
IMO it's better to have non-native speakers because it shows non-native speakers that they can learn the language... When I saw the Indian/Pakistani girl speaking in Dutch, it was encouraging for me to see :)

Helaas hebben wij weer regen in Maastricht, dus ben ik niet zo blij als de leuke mensen in deze video. Persoonlijk voel ik beetje nerveus, want ik en auditie heb morgenmiddag. Misschien zal ik het voorbeeld nemen, en een meditatie doen voor slapengaan!

Hoe ging je auditie?
@@Esther_8 hallo! De auditie was niet slecht. Helaas was ik op de ‘reserve list’ voor deze orkest (ik ben slagwerker) geplaatst, dus ben ik nog niet een juiste lid. In deze soort momenten kun je twijfels over je spelen hebben, maar ik had de gelegenheid met het jury persoonlijk te praten. Door dit conversatie ervaart ik dat ik heel erg dichterbij ben voor een positie dan ik dacht. Ze wilde me alleen een paar dingetjes te veranderen, en deze waren het verschil tussen mij en die wie een positie al hebben. Onward and upwards :) bedankt voor vragen!
@@colincrandal1280 goed om te horen dat je door het gesprek met de jury begrijpt waarom je op de reserve lijst stond, dan weet je nu dat het in ieder geval niet ligt aan dat je niet goed zou spelen! Geef de moed niet op, je muziek klinkt prachtig :) inderdaad onwards en upwards, met vallen en opstaan. Je komt er wel, bonne chance!
I can't hear Tim saying "het is wel" in the beginning and I've listened it thrice T.T
It’s fairly common to abbreviate “het is” to “tis” in informal spoken Dutch
@@pedebe100 oh, thank you for the information, it's very helpful. 😁
Dutch people tend to abbreviate a lot in the spoken language, in this aspect Flemish people are easier to understand because they pronounce the words in almost all their parts, while Dutch people often reduce vowels to schwa or assimilate some consonants to improve the flow of their talking. :)
