You made this video a long time ago, but I hope you get this message. I am relatively new to paper crafting. I retired from teaching in June 2021 and finally have time to pursue the hobby that has always interested me. I started slowly, using card stock from Target. When I starting making cards, I found that I really wanted the envelope punch I’d been seeing. When I knew for sure that I was going to pursue this hobby, I broke down and got it. It was life changing. I binged on all the videos for ideas of what I could do with it, and that’s how I found you. I loved all the projects, from bows and tags to boxes, and of course, envelopes. Of all your projects, this is by far my favorite. It was this project that finally convinced me to buy my first pad of patterned paper. The 12 x 12 was way too expensive, but I did find a lovely 6 x 8 pad with gorgeous copper foil highlights. I bought 3 sheets of 12 x 12 paper for the envelopes. First, I practiced on my lightweight paper and ended up making the same gluing mistake you made. I then finally worked up the courage to cut into the beautiful paper. And can you believe, I made the same mistake again! Luckily, my two sided tape hadn’t been pressed down yet and I was able to fix it. I’m almost done, just have to do a few more triangles and the fastener. It’s already turning out to be so lovely. My plan is to give it to my daughter for her little mini Polaroid pictures. I just want to say thank you for your fantastic projects and your fun down home wisdom. I’m enjoying myself so much and the hours just fly by. My best to you and your family!
I made one of these this week for my niece's baby boy that is due in July. I used the Graphics 45 8 x 8 Mother Goose pad and it turned out great. Thanks for such great instructions and such a great design. I think I will be making more of these.
I see this is one of your older videos but still so helpful and cute! I really love when mistakes are made you don’t edit it out so I have ways of fixing the mess that I make sometimes!
I adore this mini album Amy you did an awesome job with your tutorial, very easy to follow and understand. I look forward to watching many more of your tutorials, thank you for sharing your talents. Love the selection of paper products too, finished it looked like a very expensive card anyone would love to give to a loved one.
oh that's wonderful. I love it. I'm always making mistakes. despite the old adage if measure twice and cut once, I constantly measure twice, thrice and more and still cut wrong. The way of fixing is, if i cut too long, just trim off the excess. if i cut too short, then use they piece for something else, a card, photo mat, tag, or embellishment. my other common mistake is gluing a piece on crooked or upside down. so my best friend is Un-do. I use a lot of that!
I like this idea a lot. I have saved it and plan to make it. I have seen flip books made with WRMK punch board, but didn't know how to choose the size of the smaller envelope. Thanks for the help on that. The mistake I made while making a file folder flip book was that I made a flip book and scored in the wrong place. I scored again about a half inch away and made an accordion pocket rather than a regular flat tuck spot.
I cannot wait to make one (a lot) of these neat albums! Going to make tiny to large...have baby showers and birthdays coming up over the next two months and I think these will make great gifts! Mistakes, well. I can't craft without a few! I step away for a few minutes and come back with a clearer head and fix it. Sometimes I get lucky and the fixed mistake turns out better than the original! I always look forward to your tutorials and try everything you share with us! Thanks for your inspiration!
I love this It is so clever quick and easy way to make lots of mini's and have lots of fun doing it. I need to watch your other videos. Thank you for sharing Elaine
Oh my goodness! I have made 5 of these and have at least that many more I am planning. They are so fun to make and turn out great everytime I make one! Just look what you've started😏!! Thanks so much for your inspiration and sharing your creative ideas with all of us!
Love this little book! It's sort of a take on the "flip books" that are so popular now. My mistake? I was putting a book together and one page had a top loading pocket. I put the papers on and glued the page into the book....upside down. So I glued the bottom together and cut a slit in the page about 1/4 of the way down, lined the bottom of the slit with a small flap and made a pocket that way. Not crazy about the look, but no one knows and it is a hit....
What a fabulous idea!!! This makes such a cute explosion mini album Amy. I loved how you fixed your mistake too. My mistakes, gosh, there are many. lol But I tend to make a smudge or mess up my stamping by not stamping straight. So I usually find some way to hide it with an embellishment or if it is a sentiment, I will re-stamp it on another piece of paper and then cut or punch it out and place over the one I messed up. Thanks for a great series by you and Gareth. I'm so looking forward the the next adventure!
Ms. Maymay I have made several of your tutorials and love watching you! excellent at directions and following you!! but this is super creative! going to make one tonight! TFS!!!
The last mistake, and the biggest in my mind, was putting up a card/envelope album and gluing the cards without leaving the 1/2 inch space for the pockets and envelopes. I ended up pulling everything apart and lost only that 1/4 inch that was glued. Since the cards were no longer at the right size, I used those ones for a smaller album.
I love this project! I think I'll make them for my (step) bonus daughter and bonus daughter-in-love for Mother's Day! Not sure if I will add pictures or let them choose the pictures to add.
Hi Maymay, Nice envelope album I need to make some of these for the grand kids. I was making homemade flowers and put the wrong petal on I just carefully pulled it off and re-glued the correct one in its place. No one ever knew lol! Tfs.
Love this mini, fast and easy. The paper you used was beautiful. Last mistake, I was matting a large corner pocket on an album, cut the paper too short so I just added a piece and covered over the seam with a little rickrack trim and turned out as a cute embellishment. I'm a pro at covering mistakes lol. Thanks for sharing
This is so cute. I can see this done in baby prints. It would make a great baby shower gift. I love the projects you come up with. I just wished I had time to do them all.
Very very cool! You are so smart. My last craft mistake was painting over cricut cut vinyl letters with a stiff brush. The paint seeped under the letters and looked distressed. I just distressed the rest of the canvas. My son loved it and did not know it was supposed to be any other way.
Wow, what a wonderful idea! I was mesmerized from beginning to end. Something like that, I would place in a 9 x 12 envelope. I couldn't trust it going through the mail. Thanks for sharing!
Amy I love this project! What a great idea for a gift for someone! And you can't tell you made a mistake at all, I like how you did it. I don't think there is one thing I've ever made that I didn't make a mistake on. LOL So I just fix by covering it with an embellishment or paper etc. sometimes its not fixable but I try. But its like I have always told my girls who are grown now, and now my little grand daughters, there are no mistakes in crafting, only opportunities to be even more creative. I have one little grand daughter who use to get really upset if she made a mistake when we were stamping or making cards or sewing and when I told her that it was like a door opened for her, she is now so creative and is not afraid to just jump into creating something new to her. They made me the most beautiful Valentine's cards and wrote the most precious letter to me, I cry every time I think about it. Anyway, just remember, no mistakes in crafting just creative possibilities. LOL Have a great weekend! Hope your little one feels better soon, I'm on week 4 with this dang flu I picked up when I went home for Christmas!
Great explosion envelope! I make lots of mistakes when I craft but just use them as "creative" opportunities! The last one was when I made a bunch of origami Christmas Trees and some of the "back" showed up on the front since it wasn't folded "perfectly", and the back was plain! So I just painted and distressed the "back" edges in a similar color and "voilà" I had a nice edge that helped separate the colors and it looked intentional...
Hey Maymay can u pls advice me whether i shud do the envelope explosion or the squash book... because i have a project on making a brocheure so i need to fit in the maximum things i can....so pls tell me which one will be suitable....and also i love ur ideas...they r amazing..
What a great project!! I love it!! My last misstake was that i made a card, and i glued all the layers together, and then discovered the opening of the card was on top! (I hope you understand my english 😉). I just cut of a piece of the paper so it became a single later and i adhered it on another cardbase! Xx
I really love this! Awesome! How do you make an envelope that is not completely square? I've tried with the envelope punch boars and can't figure it out.
I haven't started doing any paper crafting yet. I do other crafts. My hands always have to be busy doing something. I crochet A LOT. In crocheting if I make a mistake I just have to rip it out back to my mistake. Sometimes that could be half my project I do over again. Frustatrating but doable. I am watching tutorials to learn & study different techniques. I loved it when you made the mistake, left it & fixed it. I think we can learn from others mistakes as well. You got a big thumbs up from me. ;-)
Wow, that is awesome! I can't wait to try one myself! I am sad to see this challenge end but, I am sure that you and Gareth will get together again for another! TFS! Hugs
Love this! Can't wait to give it a try. My big mistake was just a couple hours ago. Punched a hole in my junk journal for a hitch fastener without taking into consideration how thick the cover was. The screw for the fastener is far too short so now I have a nice hole in my cover and I'm learning how to layer to cover it up. "Make your mistakes work for you!" In my case they force me to learn new techniques in order to save my projects :)
Awesome!! I would love to see a video on the smash book. Never saw one or if I did, did not know what it was called. My projects I do are more of outside fixing trash to treasures. "One mans junk is another ones treasure" and this is so true for me. All my porch furniture is all free, re-purposed wood, and things that I made from a picket fence that a neighbor gave me when they tore it down. The biggest mistakes I make with the scrap-booking and other paper crafts is I get the measurements wrong. LOLL...So, thanks to my wonderful husband Sam, he bought me the same envelope punch board you have as well as a Martha Stewart Paper Trimmer all the things I needed to do my Bible Art Journal.
I'm making a Brenda album. I wasn't paying attention to where I was punching holes. I put two on the wrong side of a page and had to re-do some of the holes. It was really late at night when I was doing this. I put ribbon through the page with multiple holes, then I covered the actual ring holes with sticker circles. I hope that made sense. It works. It's a Brenda album anyways so I'm not stressed about it. Just shaking my head at myself haha.
I have both EPB's and the measurements are different. But it still wouldn't make a difference, would it? It doesn't seem so. I just hate to waste the paper. TYFS Love this idea for a craft fair item!
My mistake was scoring a file folder flip book in the wrong place. I fixed it by making the mistake a little accordian file instead. It worked just fine, and made a great spot for Project Life cards or photos.
i tried this yesterday with envelopes made on the martha stewart scoreboard and it didn't quite work. i think there's something about the punchboard that makes the flaps...even? like, the gaps are the same size. im not sure if I'm making sense. But I'm working on making a guide.
Really like this project. Yes I would like to see a video on the smash book. I have never seen one. My last crafting mistake. I was stenciling on a canvas and the paste smeared so I just scraped most of it off and stamped in the middle of it. Turned out great. Thanks for all you do. Pamela xoxo
Pamela Reeves That is a great way to fix it. I remember a time when I would have just tossed it and started over. Not anymore, I just get creative! Thanks Pamela!
Maymay - I loved this project and made one along with your tutorial. I want to do a mini album also, and this was the perfect intro project. I do have a problem though and hope you or others may have a solution. When I was just about done and folding up the album, the base paper began to split at the seems. Is there a way to repair this? Thanks for the excellent tutorial! Kathy
My name is Summer and I'm making my very own explotion envelope mini album with inspiration from you. I used a paper pad called 'the Butterfly Garden stack' which has a lot of greens, pinks, tans, and a little bit of red. I was hoping maybe you could help me decide what color to use for my base envelope. i was think either a dark pink or a brown color.
Questions: would you do this with acetate so you may add pictures on top of the colorful paper, like you have the paper than put acetate on top of that with an opening to slide the picture in it and when you take the picture out to look at it you still see the beautiful paper til you put the pictures back in.? ciould you make one like that?
You are a good teacher. Thanks for sharing this idea. I will be using this on my next project. I wish one day I could shoot my own crafts videos too! :)
love you this, Thanks. I forgot on my stencil that I made, to leave in the middle of the letters, let me the O,and E . so I had to free hand paint them in. it worked out great. I'm always covering up mistakes. You do a great Job😁
The last big mistake I made was I was 75% done with a card and I dropped a fully inked up stamp on it. I ended up scrapping that card, but the look of it intrigued me so I experimented with a bunch of different stamps and dropped them onto blank papers until I found something I liked. I had to throw out that card and start over, but I discovered a really cool technique from it, so it wasn't all bad.
I love it. I think I will have to watch the rest of the series. I love how you embellished on your closing. :D We as artists can't make mistakes when there is still room for embellishments!!
I truly enjoy your tutorials. I just discovered you a couple of months ago. I love your personality and how precise you are with teaching. Thank you so very much. Now when I go looking for a special tutorial I first check your work and two others that I love to watch also. I love your special tips and explanations on how to do a craft. You seem to really care about how to make us understand your teaching. How long did it take you to cut your work exactly. I do all the tricks - measure twice, cut once. Nope each mat is off one way or another. Do you have tips for making sure the paper is cut correctly?
Love this project, I am going to be sending my SIL and niece a small photo book for their pets and I think this just fits the bill! Thanks so much for sharing...Blessings...Bobbie...(the last mistake I made was to seal the wrong end down on a pocket, but it was an easy fix!)
Love it! And... if my daughter can mail a coconut from Hawaii... you can mail this, lol! Just the coconut with the shipping label... no box. I about died when the mailman brought it.
Hi MayMay, LOVE LOVE watching your tutorials! I wanted to know what is your pink corner rounder called, the one that made the pretty cut! LOL it looked pink, maybe it's red? Thank you so much!
Hello, why does it look like there is more green showing on the left side (finished look) than the right side when it is closed and wrapped around, I was just wondering.
Thank you Maymay love this. As for mistakes, I find when I make a mistake and cover it up, thinking no one will know, the first thing I do when anyone looks at my projects is point it out lol x
I do the same thing! I don't know why, first off, they usually have never seen anything like I have given them anyway so they wouldn't know if I had made a mistake anyway! But I do it all the time!
MayMay, I know that you use a corner rounder, what is it called and who by, and what is the big pink one that you use and what is it called? Thanks May May. Love you.
I love the colors of that collection. And that purple was beautiful . My istake was only having one piece of a desiger paper and cut it too short. So I just cut it into 5 equal parts/strips and placed them down leaing a gap between each piece. Turned out like I meant for it to be that way dee

Holley Downs Oh wow! I would love to see them. Maybe you could share them on our Facebook group facebook.com/groups/598467710263772/

Brenda Lawrence Good tip for stamping mistakes. I need to collect these all up and do an video showing "crafting mistake fixes" Thanks Brenda!
Ms. Maymay I have made several of your tutorials and love watching you! excellent at directions and following you!! but this is super creative! going to make one tonight! TFS!!!
This is the cutest little booklet! Your instructions are very clear, thank you! Also, I love your accent! So cute!
Susan M. Simmons Thanks, wait, I have an accent? lol!
awesome project, love your clear tutorial and I'm glad you left the mistake in! we all make mistakes and I love that you had a solution.

I absolutely love this! Im new to paper crafting and have really enjoyed your tutorials! You are a fantastic teacher! Thank you so much!
Hi Maymay, Nice envelope album I need to make some of these for the grand kids. I was making homemade flowers and put the wrong petal on I just carefully pulled it off and re-glued the correct one in its place. No one ever knew lol! Tfs.
Real cute project, I would use magnets on inside flpas as well as outer flap! TYFS

May May, I love this card, beautiful colors. Thank you.
I just discover your videos and love your projects. You made me go back to my craft-room and be creative. Thanks a bunch.
Isa Lawton Yay! I love that you are creating again! Thanks!
I cant wait to make this!!! When Michaels put this as a hot buy I bought 2 of them I love this paper!!! This is beautiful!!! TFS :)
Lori Seabrook It is really a lush paper pack to be a hot buy. The glossy pages are amazing! Thanks Lori
I will be sad when it finishes so Iam choosing my projects but this will be one for them!!
Very very cool! You are so smart. My last craft mistake was painting over cricut cut vinyl letters with a stiff brush. The paint seeped under the letters and looked distressed. I just distressed the rest of the canvas. My son loved it and did not know it was supposed to be any other way.

This is really nice! I will be making one of these. I cut mu paper too short so I used glitter tape to extend the piece and add some sparkle.
sewgoodall There is always room for bling! Thanks!
Envelope Punch Board is new to me, that's cool! I will buy it next week.. Also that envelope explosion mini album you make is awesome..
I LOVE this album! I can not wait to make it!!!
Yes on the squash book.please.
I really enjoyed this. I am looking forward to buying this board.
What a great project!! I love it!! My last misstake was that i made a card, and i glued all the layers together, and then discovered the opening of the card was on top! CeeGee4U We are talking...got a thing or two up our sleeve. It is really cool to push each other, it really makes your gears turn!

Nice tutorial where did you buy the hand punch tools your using. I would like to buy it too so I can make this envelopes. Thanks
are the measurements found on your blog? love all your tutorials 😘

Pamela Reeves That is a great way to fix it. I remember a time when I would have just tossed it and started over. Not anymore, I just get creative! Thanks Pamela!
Thank You for another great tutorial. Love your instructions.
You have the best tutorials. Once again Thank You.
Dank je wel Patrizia, het was ook zo leuk om zoiets te maken!
Ze vonden het zeker mooi.
Fijn weekend en bedankt voor je leuke reactie!
Xoxo Maia
Maymay - I loved this project and made one along with your tutorial. I want to do a mini album also, and this was the perfect intro project. I do have a problem though and hope you or others may have a solution. When I was just about done and folding up the album, the base paper began to split at the seems. Is there a way to repair this? Thanks for the excellent tutorial! Kathy
I am going to try and make this for a Christmas gift. super cool! Thanks for sharing thia idea!
Confidence Experienced you could do that, I don't usually but it would look nice.
Can't wait to try this ..thanks for sharing
glory1958 I would love to see it when you make it, maybe you could share it on our facebook group facebook.com/groups/598467710263772/

You are a good teacher. Thanks for sharing this idea. I will be using this on my next project. I wish one day I could shoot my own crafts videos too! :)
Love love this project.
love you this, Thanks. I forgot on my stencil that I made, to leave in the middle of the letters, let me the O,and E . so I had to free hand paint them in. it worked out great. I'm always covering up mistakes. You do a great Job😁
Would love to see the tutorial on the “Squash Box” album!
I love this album!
***** That is cool, you need to share a "dropped stamp" card photo with us facebook.com/groups/598467710263772/
I love it. I think I will have to watch the rest of the series. I love how you embellished on your closing. :D We as artists can't make mistakes when there is still room for embellishments!!
I have gone crazy making these designs you have come up with! Thanks so much! I am off to the craft room... as soon as I watch Gareth! ;)
Judy Humphrey You know I want to see all of them! Please share them on our Facebook group!
+Martha L Toner I struggled with that as well, I finally got a trimmer that really helped me, it is a Fiskars rotary trimmer. I love the rotary style.
Awesome little project! Thank you
This is so cute and now I want to make one! Thanks for another awesome creation!

Love this project, I am going to be sending my SIL and niece a small photo book for their pets and I think this just fits the bill! Thanks so much for sharing...Blessings...Bobbie...(the last mistake I made was to seal the wrong end down on a pocket, but it was an easy fix!)
Thanks for sharing your mistake with me! It makes me feel better! lol!

Love it! And... if my daughter can mail a coconut from Hawaii... you can mail this, lol! Just the coconut with the shipping label... no box. I about died when the mailman brought it.
missychan63 That is so funny! I would love to get a coconut in the mail!
Confidence Experienced I think the papers are different but one has some green in it.
I need that photo corner rounder! Who makes it?
I love this Amy! It is too cute and I can't wait to try and make one.
twbigdogsgirl I would love to see it!
Wowza! So creative and unique!! They should put your project on their blog and make you part of their design team!!!
Patrick Takiura I wish!
MayMay, I know that you use a corner rounder, what is it called and who by, and what is the big pink one that you use and what is it called? Thanks May May. Love you.
Thanks will make it
This is such a unique idea! I'm going to try it out with some 12x12 Gelli prints 😊🌼
I've been all over looking for those wonderful flat metal brad closures. Where did you find the ones you are using?
Vivi Morgan I think they are Bo Bunny brads. A subscriber sent them to me, I am not sure but I do think they are. Thanks!
I love the colors of that collection. And that purple was beautiful . My istake was only having one piece of a desiger paper and cut it too short. So I just cut it into 5 equal parts/strips and placed them down leaing a gap between each piece. Turned out like I meant for it to be that way dee
DeeLightful Co Great fix! I will put this one on my list for the crafty fix video!
Really cool, I love it. Good video that really shows how to duplicate it. Thanks.
