It was an interesting movie, and I appreciated they knew very well their limitations in the monster effect department and still managed to look cool. Some things were lost in translation, but the relationship between Korea and foreigners was a very on-the-nose topic here (Koreans immigrating to America, the groom was a foreigner in the final wedding, and the whole Japanese ghosts vs Korean ghosts as in Korean shamanism vs shinto topic. Also, the treason of the family was during WWII (collaborating with the Japanese), and the ghost / monster was a Japanese general leading the invasion of Korea centuries before, fallen in battle and decapitated, latter exhumated during the WWII Japanse occupation and cursed to protect the blade. Feel free to correct me, as I don't speak Korean

There are a LOT of mistranslations, misinterpretaion, and added words that misleading that actually caused the recap to be diverged from the actual story of the movie. Many of the critical points of the movie are just mentioned briefly or just skipped entirely. Its more like a "yeah, I think the movie goes like this...." rather than telling the story accurately. Definitely not recommended for those who really want to know what the story is about.

I know it's just fiction but in reality only God can exorcise any evil. Calling on Jesus Christ or Mama Mary to cleanse generational curses/spirits can help. But if the family member/s do not repent and change their ways following the 10 Commandments then the evil spirits can return and hurt them more.

dude, there are certain people who believe in different deities. yes, i am a catholic but i respect what other people believe in. i’ve learned that it’s not always about christ’s way of life but like mohammad, shiva, greek gods, buddha, and many more deities, they serve the natural orders of the world as well which is why people worship them. this should not be your concern and pretty sure they pray and have their own versions of heaven and hell.

Bull Shit and totally crap movie.. Better watch 90's Tamil Horror movies like Uruvam, Jameen Kottai, Karuppu Roja, Andhi Varum Neram etc. in TH-cam. Both the Ghosts First Park's Grandfather (somewhat stronger and useless illogic tension buildup) and that 2nd half Dummy Japanese Samurai So called Demon Ghost, worthless only mouth build up got killed easily with too many continuity mistakes and logic less scenes. Still don't know what happed to that one digger who haunted by the snake ghost which Hero promised to help. All rituals copied from old ancient Tamil rituals. And heroine and actors not up to how Tamil actors acting. I will give 0/100 for this crap Exhuma, glad no second part or disappointed end like The Wailing movie....

My friend, I agree totally with you. This movie is shit. I gave it a scathing review in another trailer video.
"By Korean horror movie standard, this one really disappointed. And, I've watched many Korean horror movies. First, it was not even scary. Second, many unnecessarily drawn out and many downright boring scenes that contributed nothing. A two hour and fifteen minute long movie that should have been 90 minutes top. In the beginning, when Choi Min-sik was pacing back and forth then walking and standing on top of the grave for the longest time, I knew the movie was going to be subpar. On top of that, the English dubbing totally ruined it. I'd rather hear the actual Korean actors speaking, with English CC on the screen. Here we had instead every single English voice actor putting almost zero effort into it. You feel almost no emotion whatsoever, when they spoke. Just contrast this movie with something like The Wailing, a two hour and thirty five minute long movie that is worth every minute."
