I'm all about the data driven stuff, I would have never realized the shift to boundary side runs was so big. It looked like "playaction to set up the run" really worked better than I would have guessed it could, like you say it seems like Johnson probes early and then manipulates defenses in order to generate big run plays. Feels like I'm either seeing something new-ish or learning a lot :)

Would love to see another lions vid throughout the week if possible. Appreciate your analysis, explanations, and breakdowns for these videos! Hope we can get a win and secure the division next week.

I’ve been watching your videos a lot and I was about to recognize a couple trap plays you talk about

Its amazing how much detail goes into creating the run plays. Really appreciate all yhe breakdowns. That said its also revealing after seeing it transpire that without the talent on the line its possible that could be tough to execute as well as they do. Really really appreciate the breakdowns so we can understand better when we watch, great job!

I swear, of all the players in the league I’d want on the Lions, Cortland Sutton would be near the top. Such an awesome receiver, and smart. We’d be devastating with him.

That 75 yard run by Montgomery was originally supposed to be a play to the TE but they had the wrong personnel. St. Brown wasn't supposed to be out there. Goff checked into a run play they run all the time and it worked better than expected.

Man those are some killer runs. Gibbs looked unbelievable. Love the way we setup motion one way then turn around and try it the other way

Thanks for the nice video. My only knock on it is by the fourth quarter, Denver’s defense was completely gassed. I know you don’t read the media but afterwards Lions were saying we could call any play and it would work. So I think the coverage of the fourth quarter is a bit beside the point.
Was hoping you would analyze what the Lions changed after three stalled drives to start the game, what did they change to get rolling. Anyway, thanks

8:54 mark. Those 2 jukes by Jahmyr are sick.
Im so proud as a Lions fan that I can honestly say I was THE only fan crazy enough to say we should take hime with the first pick. And I can back it up. I saved all of my screen shots from youtube, instagram, and facebook posts. Not trying to brag but I got sht on and talked to like sht for having the guts to say it. "Ok Matt Millen, you don't draft a RB in the first, and he's an undersized midget and cant run between the tackles ". Heard crap like that for weeks. Thats why I saved the proof. Because I didnt see a single other fan calling for us to draft him. To be fair, I wanted Drew Sanders with the 2nd pick. Hes playing well, but not like Jack Campbell. I have been following Gibbs since he was at Georgia Tech. I said he was special. I said he had elite speed and when he plants his foot, he had a burst that is startling. All came true. I said he was a bigger threat than Bijan Robinson.
I'm waiting to see him blow up in the passing game, and he will. I dont like the routes Ben Johnson has him running. Hes being treated like an escape route. He has him leaking out, then stopping, turning around in front of a linebacker. Content with letting Goff hit him for a short immediately stopped gain.
BJ should watch some film on how we used Jahvid Best. He should be chipping on the end, then streaking across full speed. A route like a sideways sideways V. Alternate directions, find a weekness. Design passes around that. If he can get defenses moving one way, emptying out one side, and have Goff hit Gibbs blazing across their faces, he will be gone.

I think that’s why the Bears have so much success against the lions. They run more 4-3 instead of 4-2 which makes them more balanced and aren’t vulnerable to motions and backside runs.

Our oline was missing key pieces in both matchups which is why the pressure rate on Goff was so bad. If we don't turn the ball over we beat them both times handily.

And no one is worried about that game now it's over with. Beat Minnesota and take this division

they're doing something right over there on the defensive side of the ball for sure, they match up against what DET is trying to do pretty well lately

@bryansmith844 all I know is I saw Jake browing make passes all over them. Sorry they have to show me. We have way to many weapons for their defense

Funny what you mentioned about Surtain; I noticed the same watching it live and now watching the highlights or replays of the game, it's even more obvious that he was totally dogging it against us.

They went wide 9 expecting pass our coach’s are really good at this showing pass running showing run pa pass I love the wide 9 we used to run it here it Detroit but it’s ineffective against inside zone and and lead run plays and to be honest you need top end defense line talent to run it and a really good Mike who can avoid blocks

Question in relation to ball placement by officials. Is the QB responsible for telling the official where they want the ball on the next play? Are there specific terms for it other than left hash and right hash? Looked center and offset between the hashes as well.

LOL the effort Surtain gave basically is all you need to know about this game for the Broncos. We broke them.

  • @SeanP7195
    @SeanP7195 ปีที่แล้ว

And wasn’t that Surtain who just kinda lazily fought off a block on Laporta’s first TD? You’re right about his poor effort.

Decker wasn't *just* hurt, he literally had Meniscus surgery *last week*

You could see it in his difficulty with lateral movement, or any second engagement. Anything on his tracks, he seemed comfortable with. Tough football player.

@@all_22_films oh sorry! That was Frank Ragnow who had meniscus surgery! Got the names mixed up, apologies.

Yeah, Decker had a back injury late in the Bears game and gave up 4 pressures after that. He'll probably be a little stiff for a while...

So often teams run to the edge with the real idea of finding a cutback lane. Seems like the Lions get the front side of those open where the RB can just continue onwards. Exotic smashmouth indeed!

Yes sir I'd enjoy more of your data driven schemes. Class is in on every one of your breakdowns. You've given me a greater understanding of the Xs & Os Always look forward to your descriptive content.
With the Lions latest momentum, along w/that guy they signed. Plus our injured guys returning. And w/prayers that they all stay healthy.
How far do you think they can make it? Anyways thanks for all you do. You take care & have a great week. 💙🦁🏈💪🏼🇺🇲✊🏼
