As a young man (many years ago) I lived near Sciennes (Gladstone Terrace) and would deliver groceries by bicycle to houses in The Grange every day after school. I was lucky enough to see the inside of many of them and I always enjoyed the ambience of the area which felt more like being in a village than a city - especially in the summertime when the gardens were all in full bloom. Such a beautiful area and with an interesting history to boot!
Ohh I'm so jealous, I'm very nosey and would love an excuse to peek inside the homes 😂 and I agree definitely has more of a village-like atmosphere!

This is wonderful, with a nice mix of activity. Not only have I learned of a new place to take my daughter for lunch, I, living in Canada, got to see some of the Grange and Marchmont, which I know very well. I encourage you to do a more studied wander about this area (Bruntsfield, Morningside, Sciennes, etc.) and take in more sights...even going for a walk through the Hermitage of Braid...stroll along the Braid Burn and even go up Blackford Hill (access via path alongside the Hermitage building) for a superb view across the south of the city towards the castle. For an evening out I recommend dinner at The Ghurka Nepalese Restaurant, Morningside, and then walk across the street to see a movie at the privately-owned Dominion Cinema. Buses include 5, 16 and 11. If having lunch in the area, Honey & Co. in Bruntsfield is excellent.

I'll definitely be sure to film more of the area when I'm next there as you're right, the walk up Blackford Hill and through the Hermitage is wonderful 😍 I appreciate the lunch/dinner recommendations too as I don't think I've dined out in the area for years! Visiting the Dominion has been on my Edinburgh bucket list for quite some time so really must visit this year!

Jam first when choosing to butter a scone.
Cream first when preferring scone unbuttered; cream replaces the preference of buttering a scone.
Buttered scone: jam then cream.
Unbuttered scone: cream then jam. 😊
