Equalizer 1 and 2 shows a retired McCall trying to step away from his former self,. But this 3rd movie,. Damn, we really got a glimpse of how cold and deadly he is.
There is something very sinister about this scene. The way he descends from the darkness, kills the thugs in the most gruesome way and then vanishes back into the dark.
this movie does an absolutely great job at showing his character's haunting past of him having been a killer. that was the thing the bourne movies really tried to build up narratively but failed. this is the dark side of someone who has been a professional assassin for a long time. because if you're that good at it - it also must mean you enjoy it in some way. they made such a good choice to show this aspect consistently. He's a guy who dislikes violence from a default position but once it's time to get on it like a frenzy he loves it and visibly savors it, and then he hates himself for it. the character of Robert is by FAR the best in 3 - it's just that the context, goal and villains in this movie are a bit too removed from the story as a whole. there's a bit of a lack of a personal connection running throughout the whole script. all the characters are brought in and out in a way that's a bit too artificial just to get the protag moving. but still a good movie imo.
And you can tell the cops are saying to themselves, "What the hell happened here? All these men are mysteriously dead, and one of them appears to have stabbed himself to death," while probably not realizing that a professional assassin did the killings.
I had a neighbor once who talked and acted just like Denzel Washington. Made me chuckle when hed get talking. His name was Kenny. My wife and I started referring to him as Kenzel because he was truly Denzel’s clone.
I've got a neighbor much the same, very cordial and helpful, and very in tune with world events. His demeanor changes whenever he pops over to let me know that he's going to be away for a few days.
This entire movie, when he's on the hunt, he's like a horror movie killer, but his victims aren't stupid teenagers, they are ruthless mafiosi. He hunts them still the same and invokes the same sense of terror.
Precisely: Vincent Quaranta isn't much different from Robert McCall - as both are "men of violence" - along with enforcer Marco, Vincent's younger brother. The latter ain't no 'street punk' (like those in Death Wish 2 and 3), he's intimidating and that's putting it mildly - either way, both brothers (as McCall said) make it "very challenging" for him. Not easy to defeat!.
I love that Robert McCall is basically The Punisher without an actual superhero/vigilante suit, but he is for all intents and purposes a superhero vigilante.
One thing i've learned in Life; always, Always be polite to Everyone you meet. You never know Who you come across! There's Always a bigger Fish in the Sea.
As much as Denzel Washington is phenomenal as always, but for me it was the bad guy actor's performance that made the tension in this scene real! I do not know who this young man is but he has done a great job with his performance against a giant like Denzel, and actually has done a way fantastic job as a bad guy than the actor who plays the older brother and the mob boss!
Smooth…makes him scream like a b1tch, disarms him, then grants permission to leave. McCall knew he would react with anger and embarrassment and look for immediate retribution. That’s why he took his gun at the table. They were so preoccupied with planning the revenge and worrying more about the reaction of Vincent than actually accomplishing what they were setting out to do, they were careless, and allowed Robert to sneak up on them when that was the last thing they expected at that moment. The best part for me was after he systematically, isolated the punk leader. He was scared. You could see it in his face as he pulled the knife and charged him, knowing that just a few minutes before, he was compelled to give in to this man and lose face in front of all the people he regularly intimidated.
Robert McCall has to be one of the most complex characters i would have to say in all of film, that I’d ever seen. To be that compassionate, loving & protective of the common citizen, friend, colleague whatever & then to be that heartless & violent to bad people & feel nothing is a new phenomenon to me. It’s an extremely tricky role he’s playing. Very complex. Idk it’s so weird, he’s a good hearted, morally intact.. sociopath? Idk. Man these movies are good 👀. The violence is a bit much but they are so good
When he is just casually but purposefully walking up to him with that warm but at the same time dead cold smile and arms rIsed up above his head i flashed back to Tong Po in the film Kickboxer when he was stalking his opponent's

this movie does an absolutely great job at showing his character's haunting past of him having been a killer. that was the thing the bourne movies really tried to build up narratively but failed. this is the dark side of someone who has been a professional assassin for a long time. because if you're that good at it - it also must mean you enjoy it in some way.
they made such a good choice to show this aspect consistently.
Cinematic legend, one of the greatest actors who ever lived whoever grace the screen
Last thing he say was denzel’s face, he makes sure of that
Notice something very small?? Robert’s hand never touches the knife that kills Marco. No touch, no prints
I saw that. And reached exactly the same conclusion you did.
Dude is a Professional

I wonder what it’s like as a young actor to look Denzel in the eye and try to actually do your job.
McCall loves the stab through the lower jaw kill. The corkscrew death in E1 was one of my personal favs
He stares him in his eyes as his soul leaves his body! That’s a cold scene!!
When I first saw this part in the cinema and the van started I was like, oh yeah here we go, and yep ha, was literally waiting for the van😂
I love the way he tells you how much he is going to mess you up before doing it.
6:29 "i'am the last face you see before you die"

0:12 What a star, Lionel Scaloni! First, he wins the world cup with Argentina, and then he is a character in this film, together with Denzel.
Denzel was looking at him like you know you fvcked up right up 😂😂😂😂😂
I love that Robert McCall is basically The Punisher without an actual superhero/vigilante suit, but he is for all intents and purposes a superhero vigilante.
One thing i've learned in Life; always, Always be polite to Everyone you meet. You never know Who you come across! There's Always a bigger Fish in the Sea.
Facts!
I disagree, you can always tell the empty cans, always be polite to the quiet ones
True that! There are those that are not what you think or who you want them to be.
@@carlbettis5882 yup! 👌🏻
In real life, the biggest fish is always an asshole and usu. wins
That is true. You need a really well-done bad guy in order to make the good guy even better, if you get my meaning.
Denzel is perfect at playing the soft-spoken unassuming bad ass.
Got goosebumps because of his stare 😂
Coz i know, something's going too happen

When Denzel had that guy by his hand you know it hurts when he is making a gargleing sound
I hope everyone realizes how lucky we are to be watching movies with Washington and Hanks in them
When the guy asked Denzel are you warning me and Denzel replies,” I’m PREPARING YOU” is one of my favorite lines!!!!!!!!! Just AWESOME ACTING🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Gave the criminal a Michael Myers stare while watching him die. Denzel’s been watching 🎃!
they could easily shot Robert in the restaurant while Robert holding and applying pressure on his hand
No shit, I wonder why they didn’t think of that?
No, because Vincent said that he can't wreck a havoc around
Italian perverts cant do that
Smgdh it's a movie but I'm pretty sure you would have love to see it happen to him because of who he is
Smooth…makes him scream like a b1tch, disarms him, then grants permission to leave.
The violence is a bit much but they are so good
Why are you hitting yourself 😂
The arms wide open walk up like he’s greeting a friend is just unnerving
His calmness is super scary.
exactly Punk 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The Quality of acting is sublime , Realistic and Amazing !!
6:37 that stare is more scarier then Michael Myers stare lol 😂
Wait, you edited this statement, and it's still messed up? Does someone drive you around places?
@@RyanHoodStompsKittens lol the auto correction lol 😂
It’s the staring the man dead in the eyes for me.
When he is just casually but purposefully walking up to him with that warm but at the same time dead cold smile and arms rIsed up above his head i flashed back to Tong Po in the film Kickboxer when he was stalking his opponent's
🔥🔥🔥🔥classic film 🎥
That bubbling sound the thug makes when his medial nerve is compressed is so perfect.
Action director of this scene knows pretty well, that a Navy Seal, in service or otherwise, remains a special forces guy for life!
Love the hands up. Not only is it a defense move from the knife, it’s also a an “f-u, come die” move 💀
I actually bought this movie , Denzel is the GOAT of cinematography
100%
exactly Punk 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Went to the theater to watch the movie when it came out, and we liked it so much we bought it when it was released on dvd.
I love how he stares in to their eyes and slowly watches how the light goes out
cant wait for Equalizer 4
Ala proxima no tires el vino ❤😂 controlate😂😂😂❤
Don't you just love watching him work !!!
I’m not afraid of you, I’m afraid of me and what I’m gonna do to you
That’s some cold blooded $hit. Stare into the eyes of a MotherTrucker as you proceed to take him into the underworld. Righteous Retribution!
I just loved how much Denzel was portrayed as a force of nature. Some inhuman demon that tore through an entire gang in half a minute. I’m always a sucker for terrifying protagonists.
Man he was more terrifying in 3 part I mean I just finished watching this 2 days ago and boy he was more brutal in this one!! man Denzel never disappoint.
The old saying is that there’s always a bigger meaner dog! Why do bad guys believe that no one can be as mean and deadly as they are?
The way Denzel looked at the ring leader as he died 😂 cold blooded
Denzel Washington can be extremely scary..
2:43 are you warning me? ... I'm preparing you...
Such a great line 🙂👍
All the Equalizer movies are really intense
The way he walks in like Yujiro...damn
I wish someone like Denzel's character existed in the real world!!!

What i loved the most about this movie was that the italians actually spoke italian with each other rather than english with a italian accent
Tried the median nerve pain compliance on myself. Nearly shat in my pants.
Idk where on the scale I went, but I swear I couldnt go any Further after I felt pain. Thus do not forget that He has complete control of his arm, so the pain at 3 should be a lot higher due to control you dont have over your arm.
Dude said 🥶 🥶🥶🥶
He must've been cold when Denzel touched his hand
