    Those aren't micro greens... they're micro reds! lol j/k. Love the idea of putting the towel on the soil for a clean harvest. Thanx for another great video!

    This is awesome. I've been looking for something like this - a clean system for amaranth microgreens. I started growing amaranth this year, and knowing the kind of seed yields I could get, I've been investigating ways to consume it en masse. You're a life saver!

    I liked seeing the towel method over the soil. It looks like the best of both, get the clean harvest with the towel, but roots can reach nutrients in the potting mix. Thanks Khang for sharing that.

    Try the same method without the soil, no trouble no mess, just pick and eat. At harvest it"s best to wait till the sprouts have a double set of leaves, you're picking yours up a little too early, wait another couple of days and you'll triple your yeild. Best vibes to you and keep those vids coming.

    If you cut a pc of widow screen ( non metallic ) to fit individual containers , you can place it down, first, then paper towel on top. The screen allows drainage & multiple uses with no possibility of dirt problems. Very good video! Thanks, Shalom!

      They are a living food. They can go from growing to harvest to your stomach in minutes. Chock full of enzymes. Not like a dying cucumber sitting in the fridge for who knows how long.
      I tried Red Garnet Amaranth and I thought the micros tasted like beets.

    Hey Khang. Great idea with the paper towel! I will try it soon. Can you just lift up the towel to harvest all at once? Can you reuse the soil right away or compose it and use fresh each time? If you can reuse, how many times before composting?

    If you hadn’t cut off the excess paper towel and had just left it hanging down the sides, you could have placed your container inside of a second container filled with water and the paper towel would have stayed constantly moist, via wick action...eliminating the need to water at all.

      Yes, I have encountered mold before, and it's usually caused by too much moisture, lack of air circulation. Try to reduce the amount of water, in crease airflow and that should reduce the chances.

    Hi Khang, I want to grow red amaranth as microgreens but when I compare the seeds prices they are super expensive! What I need to know is how heavy the seeds are. Compared to other small seeds, would you say they are light like lettuce? or heavy like broccoli?

    • @sugarsweet4952
      @sugarsweet4952 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Picket Fence Life : I don't know where you did checked the prices from the seeds, but don't be so complicated^ ;) Instead to purchase a small bag with a few seeds (ok, there are a lot inside, they are very tiny and light), go to the store and buy a bag of amaranth for cooking^ There are 500g or 1kg packages for a resonable price, and you will have amaranth seeds for a loooong time 😅

    I've been trying for months to grow amaranth with no success. Around day 7 or 8 (just before they start to get big enough to cut) I get huge sections start to die. I can't tell if it's from over watering, under watering, too much light, too little light, too dense of seeds, not dense enough seeds. Seems like no matter what I do, the same thing happens!! Only thing I haven't tried is adding nutrients to the water (no one growing them successful suggests this anywhere online). Any suggestions!?!?!?

    • @KhangStarr
      @KhangStarr  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's probably due to over watering and too dense of seeds.
