"I didn't have to re-learn anything because I didn't know what I was doing to begin with"
Memorable quote right there.
“I ain’t change since! All I do is play power chords!” You rock Stephen! 🤘🏼🎸
Haha. Facts ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
This guy is so down to earth and actually a really awesome creative guitar player.
He's so chill and tells it like it is. Need more like him.
steph should have his own Smokebox like show herbaday. (cough). He approaches the guitar like an artist. Much respect for the legend. (cough, sorry im enjoying a smoke myself right now).
Need more episodes of him in the Smoke Box. Him and Tommy Chong are the best ones.
He so down to the earth, down to the flat earth he believes in lol
@@Cash_Lovell BRO THE SAME JOKE CAME IN MY MIND BRO HOW (but its okay i still ike steph tho)
Stephen carpenter. Wes borland. Head and Munky.. Very creative and innovative guitar players. A true testamemt to the late 90s
Jim Root, Mick Thomson, Brad Delson and Marcos Curiel too man.
TOM MORELLO
@@revelarocha3879 Jim, Mick, and Tom are all decently technical players when they wanna be. I also feel like Wes could be a bit technical if he chose to do so.
I'm not familiar with Brad or Marcos.
1:55 LOL, Stephen's self-deprecation always cracks me up.
Totally. He's amazing.
That completely transparent honesty about only playing power chords.. Steph I'm right there with you! Playing for over a decade and I'm still having a blast with these "lame" power chords haha!
I love Stephen Carpenter...he's just 100% humble and kind and talented. He's a high quality human.
Steph may have a simple playing style, but he is the heart and soul of deftones, and if you actually look at his riffs, he’s a genius guitar player lol
steph’s collection is amazing
8 strings!
This is the most honest, straightforward interview I’ve ever heard from a guitarist lol
Gauze is such a underrated Deftones song
Why
One of my favorite songs ever just because.
Gotta love Steph
And now hes playing 9 string on OHMS
Stephen is such a chill dude who makes good sounds
Stef is like an average 9am - 5pm guy that is so good he will never be fired
Legend
For sure!
Stephen is a hero.
0:30 the one on the right with the neon green pickups looks awesome.
Love his ESP’s
Damn ARTIST ,plain and simple
The greatest metal guitarist ever. 6 strings white pony ..personal favorite.
Tony Iommi.
Steph is all about that custom life. Those Cabs are sick!
I love his energy lol
Stephen seems refreshingly humble
Pure inspiration! Do what you love and create. No need to color within the lines🤘🏻
This man is my inspiration in music and life!
Steph’s the man! He’s who got me into electric guitar.
Best guitarist ever
Not really the best but very unique and creative
0:49 "Haha I like his laid back attitude- WTF! Is that a bass whammy?!"
Stef is my spirit animal
Love this guy
Same
One of the reasons why i dig this guy so much is because of his humbleness
"I loved EVH." I did too.. :( RIP Eddie
this is legit 2 mins of him saying "i have no clue wtf im doing or why im doing it but im having a great time doing it"
This dude is just to nice of a guy.
Best band ever
What's your favorite Deftones song? 🎸
@@RedBullMusic too many but i d say Change
Hard to argue against that.
I like a lot of his earlier work but since Diamond eyes he’s been going super simple minimalist. I wish he would go back to some shredding and old school metal.
Stef é um cara muito legal, muito subestimado eu digo que ele é diferenciado é um dos meu guitarristas favoritos!
My bro Steph
The Last Riffbender
Whats the Song called at 1:12 … that Riff is Awesome 🎉❤
What's the song in the background?
does anyone know what kind of knobs he has on his guitars? they look killer!!
Find stephen on Smoke n scan time to time
😅 those strings are *hyperslinkys.* 8 string for life ✊🏼
Want his Chiquita guitar!!
Anyone know where I can get those tone knobs?!!!!???
I would like to know that too!
The way he explained his string configuration makes 8 strings a bit less scarier for me 😊
👍🏼
Im the same when it comes ti playing the guitar.
Should make a t shirt Stephen Carpenter approves power chords
Why is the neck and bridge pickup are so close?
It's strange that his name is pronounced "Stef-fen" whereas Stephen King is "Stee-ven." Lol I'm confused.
Dig Stephens outlook it makes sense to me cuz that how I play guitar...not saying I'm good just saying making weird chords is how I play.....although I like some solos I've never been impressed by endless noodling and super fast playing Malmsteen is boring to me....what draws me is time signature, sonics and melody......Pixies, Zappa, Soundgarden, Tool, Korn, Deftones etc
beautiful guitars but the earth is not flat
What's that song playing
Gauze
Sad that this ACL show they had a horrible issue with the sound. That’s probably why they haven’t returned to Austin since 😓
What is the first song?
Deftones - Gauze
@@TetraVaalBioSecurity thanks man....
Song 0:22?
Gauze
Он же умер
And now he has a 9-string.
He is his style so hard
"I didn't have to relearn anything, because I didn't know what I was doing to begin with."
If that isn't the most honest statement then I don't know what is.
