Wow, a SECOND RLM episode featuring Kyle Gallner! William Shatner is in a home somewhere, slurping soup, and cursing the gods he didn’t give these lads a fair shake.
Listened to this video audio only several months ago while working and finally got to watch it tonight! One of the best movies I’ve seen in years and I’m super glad you guys made this video or I probably never would have known about it!
YES! I saw this movie shortly after it’s Sundance release when they came to Ann Arbor. Got to see the cast and crew loving their movie :,). Saw it again when they came back 2 years later to celebrate its release. Just a great movie, thanks for highlighting it guys :):):)
Also it’s one of the only examples probably ever of a love story involving someone who is likely “developmentally disabled”. It goes a long way in humanizing people many of us subconsciously write off a subhuman, and whether or not that was a goal of the creators, it’s a beautiful aspect of the movie.
@@Cornintheskydude the more time you spend around mentally unusual or handicap folks..... They feel the exact same way...... They don't want to be treated nicely, gently, or any different than you would treat anyone else. They want to be treated just like everybody else. If you're an asshole to most people in your day to day life, then be an asshole to them too. Because adjusting your behavior and attitude just because their brain is different from most folks..... They don't feel like they have genuine interactions with people. at least the ones that I've known and spent time around over the years......
I was expecting a discussion of food culture in the United States, an analysis of the social dynamics influenced by dinner time interactions, and a rundown of Mike and Jay's favorite menu items. I want my money back.
I really enjoyed this film and am about to hunt down the other two in your Gallner feature extravaganza; thanks guys! Can't remember the last time I finished (and liked) a movie as much.
Kyle Gallner is genuinely terrifying in Dinner in America. This was also my Introduction to him. It was supposed to be in certain Cinemas here in Germany as well but as Mike said, ended up only in Theaters in the Netherlands. I hope Kyle Gallner gets the Praise and Attention he deserves, i think he'd also be great in a Scorcese-type Crime Movie Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
Beware camping inside inviting looking valleys in the Alps. Some of those places are cool air sinks and can be warm during the day but at night reach temperatures colder than any peak in the mountains. It could kill you. Just something I learned recently.
Thank you RLM for this tip. Watched the film immediately to afterwards unpause this video. Was one of better more fascinating films in the past many years. Wonder how many gems got lost during covid and where to uncover them.
I watched Dinner in America because it was on a John Waters top 10 films of 2020 and absolutely loved it, was so bummed you guys didn't get around to talking about it in your Kyle Gallner video so this has made my day!
Adding to the chorus to thank you for bringing this to my attention. Watched it two days in a row and loved both watches just as much. Its gonna my new comfort movie for doing chores around the house. Every scene is a joy to watch even in isolation. Its so so good

Thank you guys, I would have probably never heard of this film out here in Belgium if it wasn't for this video. Trust you enough that I ordered the uk blu ray, and I had a great time, fantastic little film. It just found its niche in my list of favourite movies ever.
This movie had me in the intro immediately with the awesome editing synced to the bumpy electronic soundtrack. It had me even more when I watched Kyle Gallner angrily walking around and it felt like a Little Big music video. It sold me when he fights off the football kid with a turkey at the beginning. And I was in love when he's on the date in the arcade to the tune of Mac Demarco, and at the same time it's revealed (by the employee's shirt) that they're at Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum
Fun fact: The concert promoter is a real life punk musician David Yow, lead singer of The Jesus Lizard. He actually adds to the punk nature of the film.
Don't sleep on Crime of The Century, if you're wanting a bit more of the prog rock Supertramp... But man it's hard to go wrong whatever album you go with

@abhishekparmar6702 the Jesus Lizard is an actual kind of Lizard. They run over water. You seem fun.
Wow, a SECOND RLM episode featuring Kyle Gallner! William Shatner is in a home somewhere, slurping soup, and cursing the gods he didn’t give these lads a fair shake.
RLM is now a food review channel? Its about time!
They've done it before. Rich ate a burger in a car and behind a nerdy desk
It's about food, Shirley..
Now they need to crossover with Ralph Sepe/RalphTheMovieMaker talking Charles Styles, Mystery Dinners.
@@phillyskyguy9535 Don't forget about the George Lucas salad unboxing!
They were inspired by prolific salad afficianado George Lucas.
They are a fucking blast and you will laugh harder and have more fun as you grow more comfortable being around them. To claim they don't do and say anything funny is just an outright absurdity. They do and say some of the funniest shit I've ever seen happen on this earth. Sometimes on purpose sometimes by accident.
The many I have got to know over the years and spent time around.....
They hate that shit.
Everybody tiptoes around them and it's been like that their entire lives. They don't feel like they have genuine interactions with people.
at least the ones that I've known and spent time around over the years......
So glad you guys chose to check this out! An underappreciated gem. 👍
I was expecting a discussion of food culture in the United States, an analysis of the social dynamics influenced by dinner time interactions, and a rundown of Mike and Jay's favorite menu items. I want my money back.
same
I really enjoyed this film and am about to hunt down the other two in your Gallner feature extravaganza; thanks guys!
I hope Kyle Gallner gets the Praise and Attention he deserves, i think he'd also be great in a Scorcese-type Crime Movie
Prost & Cheers from Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps
I just picture the director yelling "Quieter! Slower! Less intense!"
Grüße aus Lübeck. :)
Beware camping inside inviting looking valleys in the Alps. Some of those places are cool air sinks and can be warm during the day but at night reach temperatures colder than any peak in the mountains. It could kill you. Just something I learned recently.
@@fromthedumpstertothegrave3689 "Kyle, you need to take it down a notch."
@@zarreff yeah there is one air sink who has what we call Siberian Nights.. its mind blowing
This made me watch Dinner in America and I can tell you its recommended for a reason. Really lovely film
Thank you RLM for this tip. Watched the film immediately to afterwards unpause this video. Was one of better more fascinating films in the past many years. Wonder how many gems got lost during covid and where to uncover them.
Immediately went and saw it. Awesome film!! Thanks for talking about it 💯
This is the greatest video I've ever seen today!!
I watched Dinner in America because it was on a John Waters top 10 films of 2020 and absolutely loved it, was so bummed you guys didn't get around to talking about it in your Kyle Gallner video so this has made my day!
An all time classic video, I rewatch this every week.
Samesies
year, they looked so young in this days when they made the video.
For what it's worth, these videos are my favorite of yours, view count be damned. I can always feel the passion in these.
Most sports fans root for a football team, but like Jay, I prefer to root for the football game. Go game!
Adding to the chorus to thank you for bringing this to my attention. Watched it two days in a row and loved both watches just as much. Its gonna my new comfort movie for doing chores around the house. Every scene is a joy to watch even in isolation. Its so so good
I literally screamed when I saw this video pop up in my notifications as one of the few who saw this in the theaters (shoutout from the Netherlands!) and has recommended this film to every soul that came my way!
I'm so happy to see this movie promoted even if it's by quacks like you
Big thanks to RLM for this recommendation. I haven't loved a movie like this in what feels like a decade.
Dinner in America was the best film I watched last year, I was blown away. Excellent from start to finish.
I sincerely appreciate you guys. I've been watching this channel for a very long time and I have really enjoyed every minute of it.
Because of Mike and Jay, my dad and I are big fans of our boy Kyle Gallner!
Thank you, Mike! I now have a new favorite movie. And yes, I bought the same Arrow release that Jay has! RedLetterMedia never fails to entertain/inform. My favorite TH-cam channel ever of all time. For, like, years. Thank you & I love you!
Thank you for mentioning SLC Punk. Was my favorite movie as a kid and it's still probably one of my favorites to this day
I remember hating that the main character ended up as a lawyer when I was a kid, but now I like it :)
I'd forgotten all about it. Absolutely rewatching it's been 10+ years, maybe 15
@@SmettliSame here man. I guess we were just a couple posers after all 😂
@@thishandleistackenI haven't seen it in a long time either. It will probably be weird seeing how young everyone looks
@@executioner_ecgbert884 , hahaha. At least we're honest posers, like a couple of oxymorons :D
Thank you guys, I would have probably never heard of this film out here in Belgium if it wasn't for this video. Trust you enough that I ordered the uk blu ray, and I had a great time, fantastic little film. It just found its niche in my list of favourite movies ever.
This movie is John Waters approved. I remembered Kyle Gallner was sharing the movie being mentioned in his 2022(?) favorites list.
Like a tongue tongue
In your eardrum dumb-dumb
I absolutely love this movie!
Fun fact: The concert promoter is a real life punk musician David Yow, lead singer of The Jesus Lizard. He actually adds to the punk nature of the film.
Not to be confused with 'Breakfast in America', Supertramps greatest album.
It's actually in the same cinematic universe....
Don't sleep on Crime of The Century, if you're wanting a bit more of the prog rock Supertramp... But man it's hard to go wrong whatever album you go with
Not to be confused with ‘Lunch in America’ too, which is what i did a few hours ago
Nor Trout Fishing in America, a 60s novel by Richard Brautigan
Neither the 90s Albert Brook's film "Lost in America."
So glad i watched this and then the film immediately. Best movie i've seen in awhile. It's like awkward and tense and angry but ultimately wholesome somehow.
Once again, I'm enjoying RLM talking about a movie I'll never see.
Just watch it
Yeah, I just sat down and watched it tonight and it was a ton of fun
See it it's so fun!
You should watch it. Just did and it has such a great vibe and energy going for it. Real feel good vibes. Its hilarious with a genuine heart to it.
I just watched Dinner in America based on Mike and Jay's recommendation and I absolutely loved it. It might even have been better than I expected and I expected a "different" kind of masterpiece. What a disgustingly wholesome and hilariously heartwarming movie.
I WILL SEE MADAME WEB, AND I WILL LOVE IT
I searched out this movie after watching this review and I LOVED IT. It hit me on every possible level!
Literally my favourite movie ever I'm so happy they talk about it 🎉
Saw about 10 mins of this review before I decided to go rent the movie. 100% worth it, everyone go watch it. Great film, and a great feel good time.
I love Dinner In America so much. Thanks for talking about it.
The weird tech mix and overall atmosphere makes this movie feel like it takes place in the same alternate universe Detroit that It Follows does.
