An (inaccurate) look into the Ki-61 experience from the Ki-61-I ko to the Ki-61-II kai

The footage is relatively old (pre-BR changes), so the footage may be more inaccurate than usual.
They raised the BR of the Ki-61-I Otsu AGAIN...
--(THESE ARE JUST MY OPINIONS. DON'T TAKE THEM AS FACT)--
The Ki-61s are pretty decent planes! Good firepower, ammo load, maneuverability and surprisingly good dive speed. Unlike its naval counterpart, the A6M Zero, it's sturdier, faster (I think) and should be played more like an energy fighter than a turn fighter, but it's still pretty slow
Only one of them is worth playing (in my opinion) and that's the Ki-61 Otsu at 3.7, since you don't get paired with blazing fast enemies most of the time unlike the Ki-61-I Hei and Ki-61-II Kai at 4.7
The Otsu is the one I think is the most worth playing is because it has decent maneuverability, good firepower and at a relatively low BR. The Ki-61s are quite easy to fly, but once you hit over 500km/h, you handle like a brick and the control lockup is insane. So insane that it has sent me plummeting to the ground, getting reversed, and ripping my wings (even though the rip speed is at around 850km/h)!
The later Ki-61s aren't worth playing (in my opinion)
Everyone out-speeds you, outclimbs you and in most cases, outguns you. Combat takes place at generally higher speeds, so your control lockup is gonna be a huge handicap. Unlike the Zero, the Ki-61 can't make blazing fast turns to get quick shots at the enemy as easily, and the planes is still relatively slow. At this BR, your climb is quite poor, so you may have to do some side climbing.
Overall, not so much worth playing as the Ki-61-I Otsu, but are still okay planes

This video is probably not as good as the Spitfire video in terms of good footage and balance of memes. In fact, I consider the Spitfire video to be the best video, period. The gameplay, the tone, the theme and the memes all just had a perfect blend. I feel like I really caught lightning in a bottle in that video. I hope you enjoy the video anyway even though it's not as good as the Spitfire video. :D

Ahh the Ki-61 is truly a fine machine, these planes are called the Japanese Mustang back in the Dutch East Indies days. Although I don't think it'll match well with the P-51 but compare to the P-40 the Dutch have at the time, this plane was a beast

The Ki 61 wasn't in service at the time of the invasion of the Dutch East Indies, but it is very probable that Dutch soldiers serving in Dutch units under the Australians saw and faced Ki 61s.
@@martijn9568 Ig so, it's during the Japanese occupation and Indonesian National Revolution (1942-1947) they saw the Ki-61. The Indonesian would take over the aircraft after the Japanese surrender, although I can't find any pictures of a Ki-61 with Indonesian markings

We, as far as I remember has Claude, Hayabusa, Val, Betty and Zeke, but Hien, Raiden, Reppu, and other plane were not there for us to use.

Mate I truly love how visually appealing and well timed your videos are, loved finding that 2.3 109 Experience almost a year ago and just your editing in general is such high quality, keep it up mate :)
After spading the Japanese air tree, i found myself coming back to the 61-1 Otsu so much because it was such a gem. Its MER in the vertical is incredible and its an absolute monster of an energy fighter with its really impressive stall speed, climb rate, and low speed stability/authority.
Even before the HEI rounds getting their filler, the Ki-61 was an impossible plane to fight against when youre going against a pilot who knows what theyre doing.
Absolutely impressive job! Visual, audio and memes are so compleceted, it's like a movie but consisting of an unconnected scenes, a whole new level of that kind of videos. You cool!
There is always something magical in your videos. Every time I watch them, I always have that feeling of taking out that certain vehicle into combat. I've never had any interest in the Ki-61s but now I do.
Also, splendid job on the editing and the transitions. The music was also a good choice for the video. We're all looking forward to your future videos!
These videos deserve way more attention than they currently get. Another 10/10 and excellent editing as always.
In my opinion, the Ki-61 is the best looking aircraft of WWII (obligatory P-51 aside)

At higher BR the low top speed and energy retention of the Zero really makes you an easy target, but the KI-61's can stand their ground against FW190's and P51 Mustangs.
The Otsu still is my favourite to put in a 3.0 lineup and just seal club the lobby.

Iv been able to stand my own againdt the BnZ kings in the Zero, its really all about how you react to their dive. You make them waste energy with constsnt BnZ on you they dont have the energy for another so you can wipe em out in a turn fight
I love playing the 62 but the 43 is just so good, i tend to come out of a game with terror of the sky with that thing. just have to make sure you dont get shot cause those wings get hella spicy
I can confirm that the first Ki-61 at BR 3.7 now will absolutely rape anything with a turn speed of greater than 7 seconds in RB Air.

Not really tbh. It lacks the engine power and NACA aerodynamic improvements to be a true monster. It’s just unassuming & because only a handful of ppl consistently play them ppl don’t know their strengths and weaknesses that well.

Has impressive retention in turns especially ki 61 ii Kai. You can play like a Bf 109 with extra efficiency against the Spitfire F MK IX around 5km of alt.

Under-rated channel tbh
The Ki-61 is a truly great machine once fully spaded. Grinding it can be difficult on the higher tiers though. Another 10/10 Epilepsy inducing Weeb Experience.
Note he always shot the bombers wing because it's easier to cut them loose. Shooting at the fuselage just soak up bullets.

Ki-61 is the only "eh" fighter in the japanese tech tree imo. Everyone: outclimbs you, outguns you, outmanuvers you and goes faster than you especially in higher br ones. (i still love the one with 20mm german autocannons tho becuz minengeshoss is just 👌)

Finally im early and good work for the emperor at all cost! (Even your personnal SL and GE treasury).
You should use the bf 109 e1 with 4 7.62's and bombs if u want to make tankers hate you (it can turnfight at high speeds and doesnt compress that much and has a good climb rate for a br of 2.3).

Ki 44-hei is better. It is smaller, faster, more maneuverable and it is more convenient to distribute ammunition consumption on it.
