This is my dream college, and I hope to be apart of BC’s class of 2024 through Early Decision. Watching this video makes me sad because i’m extremely nervous if ill get in or not, especially because I have ADHD and don’t take that many advanced classes because of it.
there’s no set number for how many advanced classes you have to take. as long as you are pushing yourself and working hard on your app, i think you have a great chance of being a future Eagle :)
if you really feel like it could hurt your chances, i would recommend making sure your essays are very solid to compensate and make it clear to admissions why you took the classes you took. you got this!
Emma any news on your ED app? Hope you got in if you applied. How do you know what your teachers wrote? Weren’t the recommendations sent directly to the schools?
Hey Shan, you mentioned that Subject SATs were required for BC. Is this true? On the bc website it says they're optional so I'm confused. I'm a junior and my dad works at BC so I really do want to get in. Also do I really need to have taken that many APs 😳? I took a few level 5 classes and one AP because my school doesn't offer APs until junior year. Thanks!!
Would I have such a chance to get accepted at competitive university, here is what I got for now: GPA = 4.02 will enter the senior year with two AP’s. I’m planning to work hard senior year to aced them. The projected SAT score is around 1250 ( the new SAT) I have been in the high honor rule for 3 years. I have gotten the Academic Achievement for freshman year. The extracurriculars, starting from Junior, Math Team, Science Club, and Participated in the History Fair ( The History Fair was taken place at the university, so due to COVID-19 I couldn’t get my results). Senior year will participate in even more extracurriculars and I will have a chance to receive the National Honor Society certificate
Gpa isn’t bad but that sat score could hold you back big time. However, it doesn’t look like most colleges are even look at testing this year lol. If you want to improve your score I would recommend purchasing a membership at 1600.io for teaching and maybe even uworld for practice.

it's hard for me to say if you're good enough to get into boston college because 1) I don't know your entire application and 2) i'm not boston college admissions, so i don't know their exact criteria and thought process what i can say is that you seem very passionate about what you're doing! I would make sure that that passion comes through in your application (ex: in your essays + interviews)! bc (and p much every other college) wants people that are passionate about things and will add to their student populations! be transparent about how much you are devoted to robotics (ex: hours + work) leadership positions don't mean much if you can't speak on them. someone who is a general member that can talk about their passion in detail means much more than some leader who is doing it for the title. also, if it's hard to get a leadership position on your robotics team, i'd suggest trying to find other ways to supplement your interest! make side projects, get involved in competitions, learn new skills! if you don't have the time, that's also okay! im kinda rambling, but i think in summary, make it known to boston college what your passions are, how you would add to bc, and what makes you different from other applicants.
i think the most effective way to practice for standardized tests is to take as many tests as you can. that's what i did and i think it worked pretty well. you pick up on tricks to take the test and mentally prepare yourself for when you actually take it. i hope that helps!!!

I live in Waltham and I’m only a freshmen.. in high school. I’ve been so obsessed with Stanford volleyball that I didn’t take time to even think about if they had something I’m interested (unfortunately they don’t have anything I’m interested in) but I realized maybe going to school on a completely different coast isn’t such a good idea.. so now I’m trying to get myself to find interest in colleges near me. Thanks for the info! (Idk why I’m stressing about this now because whatever I want to do after school will probably change lol)

I’ve also been taking a dual enrollment class at Rutgers since sophomore year ecs: president of Chinese school, tutored little kids on Chinese, key club member all throughout hs was going to run for president this year but covid happened, NHS, management internship for senior year, did swim for three years of high school, teacher’s assistant for art, and painted for over 10 years, did Red Cross and was also going to volunteer at a local hospital junior year but covid happened, had three work experiences, did mentoring for first year Allied medical students (my school is a technical school so sophomores pick a career area they want to learn throughout high school). Do you think I would get in? I’m so nervous this is my dream school and I bought merch for it already djsjjds
In my opinion, I think a really good student can get in, BUT at $80,000/year, how much can you get to make BC worth it? You compare and contrast to a public ivy at say $20,000/year which would be a discounted tuition/rb.
You got “lucky” as you got into a good college but you would probably be making a how I got into Ivy video if you got in. You have a 3.7 which is low even for Boston college standards.

I owe all who read my recent comment regarding AOC attending Boston College a very, very sincere apology! I was absolutely wrong in believing Boston College was the font of AOC’s understanding of economics. There is no excuse for my not taking the time to ascertain the truth in this matter... I relied on one or two media presentations and then wrote what I did. I made a huge mistake! The realization of my wrong, however, opened a more deeply buried can of worms. Yesterday I sent a memo to the 18 hiring managers reporting to me, located in both North America and overseas, explaining, in detail, the cause of my bias in regards to Boston College and asked them for their thoughts. The boiled down gist of their replies amounted to this... none of my managers had read what I had written on You Tube. None of my managers got past the word “Boston” in the academic section of the resumés they reviewed before discarding it. I’m very sorry but the word, “Boston” associated with any institution of higher learning is now a death kneel. Sorry to bring “Reality” into all this but the word “Boston” on a resumé will not result in being hired. Sorry but life is tough... deal with it!

Tim Sigler 1420 is amazing for a psat score, if you got that without studying you could definitely get a 1600 with atleast 3 months of prep. good luck
