I have started buying for Christmas as I see things on sale. Our budget is smaller this year, so I'm trying to be smart about it. Our oldest wants to take a trip over the holidays also so we're saving so we can join his family. It's our favorite time of year, and we do as much as we can together. I'm glad your Mum is doing well ❤
I completely agree about minimising the stuff bought at Christmas. I previously worked in a charity shop and we had loads of unwanted gift sets donated. I really try to give people experiences, gift cards or consumables that I know they will like. I love your channel, have a lovely day xx
Can your Mom wear headphones while watching the TV? I have a friend whose husband wears them because he likes the TV loud and it gives her a headache. It might have saved their marriage :)
I save a certain amount each month so i can give $50.00 for birthdays and Christmas. I only have 6 people to buy for. Cash is always the right color and size and is never returned!
If you never see them maybe it’s the time to just send a card and a letter? Maybe say you have to scale down a bit this year. I bet they will be relieved as well!
It gets harder to find actual gifts that need wrapping so are fun to open. Everything is streamed or downloaded nowadays. I remember getting actual board games and then games for the early consoles, etc video tapes then DVDs, music tapes then CDs, books, My grandkids just send me Amazon links to what they want!!
I enjoyed this video! I've never hear junk called "toot" before, but I'm adopting it! : ) I am with you on giving useful gifts! I love to be given a specific idea (kids...family) or choose a gift card or something else useful. I'm like you...I've been caught out with no money saved for Christmas shopping (or not enough) and charged things. I am currently paying off a loan consolidation (nearly there!!) that was from just such debt. Never. Again. Thanks for a thought-provoking and useful video! God bless!
Hi Jane, hope you are well. Will you be doing Vlogmas again this year? I really enjoyed last year and you're the only TH-camr I follow who managed every day. 😊 Loving hearing the word 'toot'. We don't hear that enough nowadays!
Normally by this time we have all the Christmas present shopping done which gives me time to bake for the extended family and teacher presents somehow we have only half this year's presents must get our act together and be more organised 😂
Unfortunately my husband is the world’s best “tut” buyer. Never has he bought anything that was actually wished for. Always a last minute panic buy, and always something that rendered people speechless as they received their present and wondered what on earth he was thinking. Answer is, he wasn’t thinking 😂 In the early years I didn’t realise he held no value in giving presents and would feel quite hurt, but now I just hand it straight on to charity and buy myself something nice.
Nooooo Jane it's not too early, I LOVE Christmas although we have scaled back gift giving massively in recent years. I only buy gifts for immediate family now and often the grandchildren request money instead. I pop a fiver into a card for little family members and just send nice cards to the adults. I've got a dedicated Christmas savings account which I slowly add to throughout the year by selling unwanted stuff on ebay. Christmas is more about the family getting together now than gift giving. If anyone wants a easy way to save money you could do the 365 day challenge £1 Sunday £2 Monday etc then repeat (think it’s 28 pounds a week if you can afford) Also taking the last digit over every evening into your savings adds up and you don’t miss it (thought I would put that on here if we’re talking about Christmas) xxx
I saved our change (coins) since last December and have nearly $700 saved for Christmas! 🎄
