  • By now you have probably all heard the same story over and over again about why people are making the move from California to Tennessee. Sure a lower cost-of-living used to be a good reason but is it now in 2024? I think at this point it's a little bit deeper than money. I believe that people are making the move here to Tennessee for reasons above and beyond financials. People want a better way of life and they want to live somewhere where the culture align with their values.
In today's video, I'm gonna dive deep into six reasons that people are moving to Tennessee from places like California, New York, Illinois, and other states.
    Lets dive in!

You are right about California Matt and we are sick of it. I was born and raised here in the San Francisco Bay area, and I am 62 years old.
I have less than 5 years to go until retirement, and then we are getting out. Hallelujah!
We bought a nice little 3 bedroom 2 bath ranch house with a large basement in east Tennessee (New Tazewell) and it has .62 acres and Lake Norris across the highway which can be seen from the porch. Can't wait to live where people are like minded and kind to one another.

Oh wow congratulations on that home out in East Tennessee. I know you probably can’t wait for the day that you get to pack up and move there. At this point I’ve met so many people, from California, and heard the horror stories so I know y’all are just sick of it and ready to get out as soon as possible.

@Matt.Bogosian Thanks Matt. Yes it's hard to even go to work anymore after being in Tennessee this past July. We loved the people and the area.

Nice to see you again. My reason to plan on retiring in TN from NJ is we have no kids or family to keep us here. Why do people have to live and die in the same place? Adventure is out there! Coming to visit TN in 2021 and not seeing prolific face diapers solidified our decision. The people just seemed to have common sense.

I 100% agree with you. You have to live your life and get out and try something different. You only live once and time passes way too fast. Congratulations on your decision and I wish you well.

I 100% agree with you about everything except fun! Seriously, why do so many people say “just don’t bring California here”? Why would we move away if we loved it so much?

Hey Matt, I'm in Illinois till next year hopefully, but I have a brother in TX and almost everyone likes living there. I visited Nashville last year and asked a couple restaurant/hotel workers if they like living in TN. They all said they loved TN. If you were to ask my Chicago residents, the majority hate it here. Why live in place that the majority hate? I think God wants us to be happy and that attitude of liking the environment makes people more enjoyable to be around and live with. I don't know if that is "Southern Hospitality" but I would rather be around happy people instead of the opposite.

Absolutely, Edward! I totally agree. Life's too short to stay in a place that doesn't bring you joy. Nashville is a great city and it also has some amazing neighborhoods to live in. If you decide to make the move give feel free to reach out to me at 615-270-9604. I'll be here when you are ready.

I recall vehicle registration in TN is like $32 years ago. Not sure what is now. Last year my California ev vehicle registration was $768. Mind you California supposed to be green state supporting electric vehicle. Not to mention that 50cent tax to a gallon marked up on gas, so we basically get taxed twice if I'm not wrong.

Yes I hear about how expensive it is to register a vehicle in CA quite often. Here in my area it’s around $60 to register a vehicle.

You hit a lot of good points and seem to get it!
As a normal person you can have land in CA, you just have to live outside the major cities (which isnt a bad thing). The main problems are the government, and lack of water in many places (artificial oasis), atleast in SoCal, also I have my children enrolled in private Christian school because the public schools are too "woke".
CA has good things though: 1 hour drive to beach, mountains, cities, diversity of authentic food, weather etc....out of all the places Ive scouted Tennessee seems nice and is on top or near the top of my relocation list.

I hope the people who are moving to the wonderful State of Tennessee do NOT turn it into Austin Texas or California.

I don’t get the impression that they will.

Just curious - why do you (and so many others) say that?

Born & raised in San Diego, but I'm more conservative than the average Texan (lived in TX the last 4 years)

Retired and planning a move to TN at the end of the year. This state sickens me and just about everyone I know in the conservative pocket I live in. I can promise you that I am moving to get away from this liberal insanity, not to bring it (plus I love Tennessee). Not everyone here is like the nut job majority voting this place into a garbage state. Have a great day and God bless.
