      im sorry, but actual experience is to the contrary, the 1911 inspired many guys like the sig 226, but while these evolved and improved, the 1911 was left behind. While it was reliable at the time, it has been surpassed by superior designs. That being said my 1911 is by far my favorite gun to shoot despite having a limited magazine, abeing unreliable, a pain to disassemble and clean.

      The original 1911 might be obsolete these days, but the design itself has been kept up to date. The M45A1 CQBP is still the primary service pistol of the USMC's special operations units. It's still a 1911 at its core, just built to modern standards and requirements. Even the M1991, which is the current "pure" 1911 being offered by Colt AFAIK, is a solid and reliable piece.

I have no idea how one man can have this many revolutionary ideas on firearms. The only thing preventing me from thinking he's a time traveler is that his inventions are purely firearm related.

      except it did. I have had zero jams ever with a glock/sig meanwhile a well cleaned, and lubed 1911 will jam every few magazines. while the 1911 does have a smooth trigger, any well made hammer-fire will give it a run for the money.

    • @johnbeauvais3159
      @johnbeauvais3159 6 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      Sam Beatty It is difficult to objectively prove reliability of one firearm over another and unless you have extremely concise criteria for your tests results will be inconsistent at best.
      For example I have a Colt 1911 that was made in July 1917, I have personally put over seven thousand rounds through it shooting as much as 500 rounds in a single sitting. I have never experienced any failures to feed extract or eject. It has shot every type of ammunition I have put through it from match to cheap blazers. The pistol operates clean dirty wet dry cold hot. I cannot say this for any other firearm I own.

    • @sambeatty2312
      @sambeatty2312 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you have different experiences than me. I have a custom kimber 1911and while it is an amazing pistol, I have to use high-grade ammo and clean it after every trip to the range. Even earlier today I had it fail to go into battery 5 times. I then switched to a sig p226 which has never jammed, and continued shooting. In my experience guns like the sig have taken the core of john brownings design and improved uppon it. I can dissassemble the pistol in 3 seconds, and because it has fewer moving parts, it is generally more reliable. Again, it is very similar to the 1911, but over a century of improvements in design have produced many superior guns. I would mention the glock, but everyone knows that those things are indestructable, but I don't like the ffel of striker-fires.

      Devlin Jones Have you ever shot anything outside of a video game? I have to ask that because 90% of the comments on these videos are from keyboard warriors.
      "Just by virtue of the simplicity of the design."
      By that logic, the Mosin Nagant should have a trigger that feels like virgin pussy, but it doesn't.

    • @johnnysasakithethird1209
      @johnnysasakithethird1209 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Mosin-Nagants being sold today are at a minimum least 70 year old surplus, made by peasants for peasants. Of course it feels like shit.
      The 1911s' trigger does nothing but push back slightly and takes the spring tension off of the bottom of the sear. Though not directly analogous is comparable to bolt action trigger mechanisms.
      In contrast striker fired pistols like the glock and double-action capable hammer fired pistols like the M9 and Sig sauer rely on an arm attached to the trigger to actuate the sear and release their hammer/striker,
      account for the relative mushiness of the trigger pull and longer reset times.
      In summary, the 1911 has the best trigger of any contemporary pistol, assuming quality parts.
      The Mosin wouldn't be bad either, if it wasn't ancient commie shit.

The thumb safety is extended to make it easier on the finger. A long-type trigger with nonslip grooves. A ring hammer. The base of the trigger guard's been filed down for a higher grip. And not only that, nearly every part of this gun has been expertly crafted and customized.

Wilson Combat, Dan Wesson and Night hawks are nicer custom guns, but they cost a fortune. • @harveyknguyen

      @@harveyknguyen Mine is a Sig Sauer C3 1911. And sorry for this long response...
      And to answer your question, I wanted the 1911 because it has over 100 years of usage, has 75 years of military service, and still being used by special forces today.
      If you take a look at most firearms from WWI, a gun is lucky enough to even see the battles of WWI. Or maybe even WWII.
      And if you're thinking this, no, I'm not of the "Won two world wars" crowd.
      What amazed me is the VAST usage across the world for years, not just in America. Seen alot of wars too.
      I wanted the 1911 because of it's history of usage. Not because it's a classic, or because it's the grandfather of pistols. But because it has stood against time. Not alot of guns can hold that title today.
      To me, a better gun is subjective... because alot think that new always means better. Now, I'm no Fudd. I do not deny progress. But guns are always being replaced left and right. For better or worse, that's the thing that worries me alot... That's why I want the 1911. I wanted a gun that has tested the limits of time.
      Lower recoil and double stacks are nice. But I didn't like the idea of being like everybody else and getting what everyone else gets... I felt mediocre.
      And I do not want to replace it... it's going to be my main carry. .45 ACP delivers the same in a 1911 as it does in any other gun.

      and no i'm not on the boat that newer is better, there's definitely quite a few examples of that (for example the 1911 as ironic as that sounds) but there are definitely much better designs out there that don't cost any more than a good 1911

      Magazines slip right out so smoothly. And I love the white dot green glow in the dark sights.
      Was almost $1k though, but honestly worth the purchase. Laser is of high quality too.

    Perhaps a Kar98k? Or the G36 series? The Glock handgun series is quite well known, especially the full-auto G18, which seems the most popular. Backup pocket firepower. Springfield rifle? What about non-firearm weapons, like the K-bar knife, pattern swords like the 1796 light cavalry sabre or 1917 cutlass? Perhaps the baseball bat, though this may depart quite dramatically from the theme of militaristic weapons.

The G36 has been immensely popular in video games, same with the Glock.
