What a beauty. Love the log mount. The blooms are amazing. And the roots are just juicy. I will need to keep my eyes out for this as it grows like a vanda. Thank you for this video. Have a great day.
Thank you Kim, if you find one - get it, it is very rewarding plant, grows pretty fast and not very fussy, and the blooms are even better in person, in the evening they look almost black with bright lip. its one of my favorite plants in the collection :)
Thank you Trac! If you can grow vandas - you can definitely grow this one. Mine gets same care as my vandas and grows happily and blooms easy. Try one, you will love it.
Love your trichoglottis! Beautiful flowers and I like the light edges as it really defines the blooms. Such a rich color on the blooms. Lots of nice thick roots. I think it loves how you treat it. A great plant and very nicely displayed!
Thank you Beverly! This one is a real pleasure because it performs without much effort and I like just the look of it even without blooms with those fleshy leaves and roots all over the place, and of course the blooms are just awesome. The fragrance is quite strong, so it might be intoxicating for somebody but I can tolerate it and it is strongest during the mid day too.
Your setup is just perfect for this plant, it looks simply amazing! Those roots are loving the mount! Love the rich color of the blooms, and the landing pad lip is quite striking, well done !
Oh I forgot to look at this video! Oh wow. Pictures do not do justice to this plant or flowers! Love the dark color and contrast. What a long lip. I know it is fragrant. I'm glad this one seems to have made its home on that cork log. For now mine seems cozy in the moss and perlite mix. I let it get dry, then drench the moss again. I have to bury the rootless part because it is dessicating. It is trying to root. The other part with the root is ok but no new leaves yet.
Thank you! Yes, I forgot to mention fragrance, it is quite strong. The roots will appear on the stem everywhere not only at the bottom. You are good with vandas, so I am sure it will do great for you :)
It is growing very well..mine just in August put out tons of roots all over but i don't see any spikes and no new leafs..:-(, but i like how it is now so i am not complaining..Those flowers are so beautiful..thanks for sharing
Thank you! I hope yours will bloom soon. I noticed that it doesn't really rest during winter and continues to grow just like my vandas (well, maybe because I keep watering and feeding them plenty), but the blooms come only during summer for me.
Beautiful! I love them 😍 I lost mine because I couldn’t keep up with the humidity ... it was expensive as well, so... that really saddened me! I love it! Well done!! 🤩🤩
It is normally about 40-45%, it is our washroom, so it might go up when somebody takes a shower, but then it drops back down pretty fast. I don't run humidifier there. During cold winter days when heater works non-stop it might drop down to 30% and lower.
It's like vanda, when it's too dry just water it often, as long as you do - it will be fine. It has fat roots and thick hard almost succulent leaves. Get it, you will love it! :)
Hi Orchideya, I’ve one a month ago delivered to me from Paramount Orchid. Unfortunately it was in sphagnum moss with full of algae & some insects. I want to mount it in a tree bark my son gave to me when he cut his big tree. Would it be better to put it there? Thanks for your advice.
Hi Elizabeth, my plant really likes being mounted, so I think yours should like it too. But please do research on the tree that your bark came from, some trees might produce sap or resin that might be harmful for the orchid roots. If it is - you can always buy cork bark from amazon, it is available in all shapes and sizes there and orchids like it. Mine is mounted on little cork bark hollow log like this one here : www.amazon.ca/Zoo-Med-Natural-Round-Small/dp/B000QFUAFY/ref=sr_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=cork+bark&qid=1605118673&sr=8-5 and I noticed that roots really like to get inside that log. I hope it helps. Good luck with your trichoglottis :)
Hi Orchideya, I love your Trichoglottis. I mounted mine in a small tree bark given by my son for about 3 wks. Now. How long does it adopt itself to a new medium? Does it produce a new root to signal that it already alive
Sorry, I press the send button, anyway, how long does it produce a new root? I know lots of questions but just curious much as I love this orchid. Thanks for the info.
Hey Elizabeth, I noticed that my plant grows the best and most during spring/summer, that's when it produces whole bunch of new roots and leaves, and buds too. During winter it gets a bit slower, maybe because it is slightly colder here. If your plant has some old roots, - spray them every day, preferably in the morning to support the plant until it gets going the good new roots. If there is no old roots at all - spray the leaves, bit make sure that water evaporates fast so the rot doesn't set and just be patient - it will adjust, and will want to grab on the mount for sure. Good luck! :)
No problem :) I noticed that all my vandaceous respond very well to occasional soakings in the seaweed extract solution, it seems that seaweed extract stimulates root growth in them. I do it once a month during growth period. You can try that for your trichoglottis, it might boost the root growth in it too.

The blooms are just magnificent. The dark burgundy color and the contrasting lip makes for a show stopper.

Thank you Nina! I am so sorry you lost yours, it is a nice species, it would break my heart to loose mine.
what is the humidity in the room where this orchid lives?
It is normally about 40-45%, it is our washroom, so it might go up when somebody takes a shower, but then it drops back down pretty fast. I don't run humidifier there. During cold winter days when heater works non-stop it might drop down to 30% and lower.
@@Orchideya I thought it required high humidity). Now I want this too))

I’m having trouble with this I don’t know how to “plant this or water etc.
