    What a strange and gorgeous orchid all in one. I have to agree it is great for Halloween. If i can find one I will get me one. Love your videos and all the orchids that go with it. Enjoy and have a great day.

      Thank you Kim! I hope you find one. I bought mine from J&L Orchids when they visited show in Ottawa.

    It is a funky different bloom, very appropriate for this time of the year like you said, with those fangs 😍. I like it, very particular, it stands out !!!!

      Thank you Fernanda! I agree, it definitely stands out! I like that its not fussy and blooms regularly too. Nice dendrobium to have :)

      Thank you Denise! I am glad you find it interesting. I like the color combination of the green with dark orange too. I hope it doesn't get too tall and wish it grew more than one cane per year, but hopefully it will when it matures some more.

    I like how a simple growing technique seems to offer the best results. By now, you must realize that if the plants aren't doing well, it's not you, it's the plant. There are many hidden factors why plants don't thrive but you give them the best start possible.
    Tobaense is amazing! Look how tall it is! It has spare energy to grow a new PB at the same time as blooming.
    I've only found a snail on the tolumnia that came from Our Tropics. Haven't seen one since thankfully.
    I had failed to notice the fangs, but that tongue is amazing! The red orange patch looks hairy and velvety. Many wonderful textures on that flower. Surprised that the older canes don't bloom. Wonderful purchase. It seems to be a rare find. I don't see it offered for sale all that often.

      Thank you! I like non fussy plants that grow and bloom without much effort. If only they all were like that. yes, I don't see tobaense for sale very often, i was lucky to find it on J&L sales table at the show. I find occasional snail moving on the tank glass, usually after dark . I need to try ambushing them. Not sure how to lure them out of the hiding otherwise.

      Try beer? It works for slugs. Just a guess.

      @@Orchideya perhaps put a piece of lettuce in the tank and see if it will attract them or the beer as Res Q said

    This a wildly exotic bloom, and yes, I see the snake-like fangs! I wonder what pollinators could be attracted to such a face! Nicely grown plant, a good subject for your tank.

    Hi Orchideya! You have some very unusual, interesting and wonderful blooms. In the end of your video where you show the blooms I saw an old mans face. Like the face of a king or something. The face was in the area of the “nose” or pollen cap I guess. Can you see it? I think you are doing a wonderful job with this plant! Look at how big the newest cane is! The blooms are fascinating and very appropriate for Halloween!! I hope all is well with you! Have a great rest of your week!

      Thank you Beverly! I went back and looked and I saw it too, lol. And before I could only see the fangs and a tongue, haha. I think it just likes the tank environment, I don't do much , just water it when dry. Hopefully it will start growing more than one cane per year to get more blooms on a large plant. I thought it would re-bloom on the old canes, but it doesn't for some reason, scabrilingue did... But still even couple blooms look great :) Have a great week!

    Hi their morning. Mine is looking a bit sad this morning. It is the coolest one I agree. My canes the leaves have all fallen off and the canes are brown. I have mine next to my humidifier. I may have to change her media. Yours looks great.

    • @Orchideya
      @Orchideya  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Michelle! I hope changing medium will help yours to get better, I have a strange problem with my den. unicum and trantuanii - new growth suddenly went limp at the top and then got brown. It doesn't look like rot and doesn't spread, but growth is ruined, hope they try to grow new ones.

    Love the flowers on this one! Too bad you lost your scabrilingue. Mine is still alive but it hasn't had any decent growth on it. I was re-reading some culture notes on it and it's supposed to have pretty cool nights (11 degrees) and I'm wondering now if the lack of these cooler winter nights is inhibiting its growth. My carineferum has been more active since I've put it outside for the night.

      Thank you Gabrielle! Interesting thought, I need to read about chrstyanum, its not growing that well, maybe it needs cooler nights too. I won't be able to give it 11C but I could probably manage 15C on the cold windowsill.

    Hi,👋
    It's NOT weird 😉😄, is beautifully different. I really like this orchid blooms. Mine ( the hybrid of yours) still growing / maturing new canes.
    It will probably bloom in spring, I hope 🤞. Thank you for sharing 🤗💚.
    Ps. I always rinse/ soak cocohusk,because ,🐌 eggs could hide in there? 🤷‍♀️.

    Beautiful!! How often do you water with cocohusk/terracotta pots?? I soak mine for 24/48 hours before i pot with it. Not so much for the beasts but to get the cocohusk/media wet to the core so it is easier to water and wet afterwards......

    • @Orchideya
      @Orchideya  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I water this one every week. The pot is pretty shallow and it has slits at the bottom, so doesn't take too long to dry in the tank. I just look at the color of roots picking out from the holes and water when they are all silvery. I will start soaking husks too.
