Was born there 1973 and grew up on and off having parents who were in army, which lead to living in Cyprus, Germany and boy did these pictures bring back memories of by gone age, going back forth seeing it change in 80s to 90s. Didn't return there till 2020 and whow my family up there where right about the openning the retail park and the shutting down the bus station it collapsed into charity shops in place of many of them shops from 80 - 90s. Plus with rise of the Internet shoppper bit run down. But I knows Falkirk like many towns will rise again like the Phoenix. P.S the 2 thing I miss the most living in London now is not having Patrick's the butchers and getting a Lorna Square sausage. 2nd going to ice cream van and getting a delicious nugget waffer or as they used to be called 1 black man before the PC Brigadie start interfering with cultural.
I used to go into the broadway cafe for a coffee and fish and chips on the way home… you never knew if you were welcome as the staff were a bit standoffish… it was a real old fashioned chippy with a sit in area with old fashioned wooden seats and tables. I used to travel through the high street on the midland bluebird buses, back when they were the real midland bluebird buses and not the McGills attempt to be them… sadly Falkirk has become a shadow of itself and needs major surgery to bring life back into it.
Gavin Bell & son… now there was a real fish shop… the marble slab with ice and fish… that was flushed clean ever day before closing time and I knew a chap who worked there too, sadly long gone, both him and the shop.
Hey Scotdrone. Great video! Do you have the ability to give people access to the photos? I grew up in the Falkirk area, as did my parents and they would get a kick out of looking through these photos. Possibly a Google drive link or such? Thanks, mate.
The pics all came via Falkirk Council archives. All the pics (and loads more) in the video are available to view online via their digital archives website. 🙂
Maybe if we all stopped using online shopping we could get back to good old fashioned shopping. We shouldn't be reminiscing but keeping traditions alive
It looked alive in this video, most folk were suited and booted, now it’s mostly jakeballs and junkies, no wonder the town is in decline need proper taxpayers spending spending money to keep the town thriving, no the work shy benefit grabbers we see now it’s sad now I only come up town when necessary
@@Scotdrone thank you for clarifying for me when I seen the free willy 2 poster I was so confused I thought maybe I rogue picture had gotten into the amazing video you had made 😁
Left Falkirk in 1985 and this video makes the memories flood back. Great video and great times.
I am still here :)

I remember alot of these places. Falkirk was a good town to grow up in. It has the potential to be a great place to be.
That's the Falkirk I remember growing up. So sad to see what it has become.
Grew up in Falkirk and remember how vibrant the High Street was in the 1990s. Sad to see the state of it now.
Even I had heard of Sleeves Records and I grew up in Port Glasgow. That place must have been good
Great video. thanks for sharing.

brilliant video
The worst thing they ever did was to open the retail parking down next to Grahamston station as it killed the town centre.
My gran stayed there her whole life ❤

How about make a time capsule of your hometown?
Fun fackt Romę ended up there
Just how I remember Falkirk , headed there most weeks from Stirling to buy clothes …..
Left in 1982. Best thing I ever did.
when we have a proper high street and town
I escaped from there in 1975 it was a dump then… apart from La Bamba, Brockville, and the train to Edinburgh 😂
Edinburgh lol, lovely place, well one part of it.
Escaped is the correct word
Edinburgh??? It's an even bigger shithole 😂
@ I only stayed in Edinburgh while studying but yes I agree it has a few challenging areas but still a beautiful town historically.
Saludos desde Perú porfa y lo actual
And look at it now , a dump, makes me sad
The pizza hut picture is from 1995 not 70s or 80s 😂
@@Duggy1872 just as well the video is Falkirk in the 80s and 90s then……. 😂😂😂😂
The internet has an influence on the downfall of our High streets

Раньше было Кака то уютнее из за этих маленьких магазинчиков и вывесок.
Yep sadly this town of ours has turned into the ultimate shithole
A wis ther
falkirk in 2024😁
Pre apocalypse
Pedestrian precincts are a disaster. Couldn’t count how many town centres they have destroyed. Sure killed Falkirk.
1:17 This is 1995 😂 is it even Falkirk either
@@Duggy1872 yes it’s the old Pizza Hut that used to be on Falkirk High Street during a themed American festival in the 90s.
