      2 Corinthians 10 KJV [12] For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. This episode was so good for me. I find myself as a almost 41 year old single mom to a preschooler in a job that I’m essentially resentful of after pouring my life since I was 16 into it, living in a house on a busy street, and now heart broken because of where my life is not. I’m incredibly grateful to God because it’s all a real blessing. It really is, but I’m also in a season of disappointment (isn’t that always the case when our plans don’t match Gods). This season has tested my trust and this episode has taught me what real surrender may entail- not just me saying “I’m surrendering my ideas lord” but actually surrendering them to God and not impatiently waiting for Him to give them back. Thank you for this!

      @@SingleMomRunning May I suggest that you shift your focus from the temporal to the eternal?
      Romans 8:18 KJV
      For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
      2 Corinthians 4:16-18 KJV
      [16]For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
      [17]For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
      [18]While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
      Philippians 4:11 KJV
      Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
      Setting aside time daily to read your bible and pray does wonders for staying focused on those things eternal while being able to bear those things which become burdensome if we try to go it from within ourselves. A daily dose of bible and prayer (for me) goes a long way toward to continually keeping my focus on the things to come rather than the things which are; along with unloading the issues from myself and trusting in the Lord above for everything.
      My bible reading has grown over the years and it seems to me that Paul's epistles have a very subtle way of adjusting my view of life: Romans through Philemon together with Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job seem to be those books which keep me focused on the eternal.
      I'm a widower and am retired from the work force. Please feel free to contact me anytime for someone who understands life's constant struggle.
      2 Timothy 3:12 KJV
      Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

    I’ve been a person who was resistant and had my heart mostly closed off to God until recently. I don’t know exactly how or why, maybe God whispered to me, but I started reading Genisis and was so emotionally moved. I cried for awhile. I immediately felt connected to something bigger than myself. I’m learning that my ego, my sense of self that I held onto so dearly as the answer to everything was the reason I’ve suffered for so long. I’m breaking through that, every day as I’m reading more and more of God’s word. I’m still very early in my journey. But the change in my persona has been so powerful that I can’t really deny God’s love anymore. Despite whatever skepticism I might have, I’m reading and learning more every day to answer these questions. I just wanted to share that.
    Candace, your podcast is great because you and your guests thread God’s word and wisdom in your conversations without being intimidating to people like myself who are just finally opening their hearts, eyes, and ears to God. So thank you very much 🙏

      @@taabbym The Old Testament is the old covenant and was only for the nation of Israel. Gentiles were not included in eternal salvation until Saul of Tarsus became the Apostle Paul in Acts 9:15.
      Paul declares that all things written aforetime are for our learning (Romans 15:4) and therefore nothing in the Old Testament applies to anyone today. We are in the age of grace. The only books within the bible which are written from grace are:
      The gospel of John
      Acts 9 - 28
      Paul's epistles (Romans through Philemon)
      Read the gospel of John first, skip Acts and read Romans through Philemon. There you will find both the milk and the meat of the gospel of grace.
      Eternal salvation (for the age of grace) is found in Romans 10:9-13.

    11:23, I grew up in a tumultuous household and I swore to myself that it would be different when I had a family of my own. In doing that I set up unrealistic standards and expectations for my children and husband making our home an unpleasant place to live. The Lord is so kind, he lovingly pride open my fingers and helped me (and is helping even now) to let go of the this idol I had of a “perfect family”.
    I’ve learned to love the family that God gave to me and he is healing those past hurts in ways I never thought could be possible.

    I had this come up when I had our son. I had to submit ( this word is a struggle for me) to the Father and to my Husband. I had to put my faith in the Father that he had prepared my husband for this time. Fast forward to almost 6 years later. I have seen the Father do as he said he would do.
    He has also shown me that when I do his will, I am so rewarded.

    Thank you ladies . Surrendering to God is hard . However Sometimes depending on our past Sometimes it is easy to let go. Gives you a chance to look forward to what God has for you in the present and the future. Taking one day at a time.

    • @SteveSpence-cc4pp
      @SteveSpence-cc4pp หลายเดือนก่อน

      Surrendering to God (or more correctly to the Holy Spirit within each of us) is only difficult when we try to run our own lives (been there and have done that) but when we stop trying to force the outcome we believe should be the outcome and adopt the idea of Romans 8:28 and Phillipians 4:11 (the application of Romans 8:28), it becomes very easy (becomes our default nature) to accept and give thanks in tribulations also Romans 5:3-5 & 12:17-21.
      I am now 73 years old so I am speaking from the Lord taking me to the divine woodshed more than I ever wanted to be corrected. If anyone wants to find it easier to submit and allow His will in your life continually, we are in the age of grace and should apply the age of grace to our lives.
      The only books within the bible which contain the gospel of grace are:
      The Gospel of John
      Acts chapters 9 through 28
      Paul's Epistles - Romans through Philemon
      The Gospel of John is the only gospel which is written from the viewpoint of grace. The Gospel of John does not contain one instance of repentance of sins and was the last book written after John was released from the Isle of Patmos after Revelation was written.
      The gospel of grace is where you will find growth as a Christian. 1 Corinthians 5:6-8 KJV states for us to: "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us."
      2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV states: "Therefore is any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."
      This is something I struggled with for a long while: how are all things become new and yet 1 Corinthians 5:7-8 states to purge from yourselves the old leaven?
      The answer is simply this: All things have become new inwardly but not outwardly. This is explained in 2 Corinthians 4:16 KJV "... but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day."
      The old leaven and the leaven of malice and wickedness (1 Corinthians 5:8 KJV) is purged from us as we read our bible and pray daily. This is a very slow, almost imperceptible process that I was not aware of except when I begin to be aware of changes in the way I prayed and my ability to understand more and more within the verses I was reading. This is the difference between a carnal Christian (1 Corinthians 3:1-3) and a spiritual Christian (Galatians 6:1). The difference is absolutely unbelievable which cannot be explained but must be experienced to be understood.
      Even so, come, Lord Jesus
      Rev 22:20 KJV

    My mom used to say “Slow obedience is disobedience” and I’ve repeated many times to my kiddos. 😂 Cassie’s question made me laugh so hard with Priscilla because it’s so so hard getting kiddos to show up and do things! With joy would be great but just doing them period would be a good start.
    I found this episode of the podcast quite by accident today (or was it 😉) as I was planning on watching something else but was intrigued by the short clip I saw you posted of this episode. I really really was moved at the beginning with the surrendering things to God part. It’s easy to say in an easy season. But way way harder to do it in a difficult one. We are in a valley currently that has been rough for our family to navigate but it was really encouraging to remember we need to surrender this season to God. He has complete control and He will give us all the graces necessary to get to the other side. 💕
    P.S. I also really enjoyed the part about the Church as a whole forgetting that we are to become more and more Christ like the older we get. That is so true and I think it’s easy for us to forget that.

    Great conversation on surrender. I struggle with surrendering my desires and plans for my life to God as I'm sure most believers do. Something that is helping me with the struggle to surrender is praying it almost daily. Lord, help me to live a surrendered life today. I believe wholeheartedly that God has only the best in store for his people. Even though it's hard to give up what we want in life, I trust that what God wants to do in our lives will exceed anything we could ever possibly want or dream of. This gives me hope when I'm discouraged, sad or disheartened because I'm not where I would like to be in life. Thanks Priscilla and Candace for this important conversation.

    I literally was wrestling with giving up champagne and eventhough I don’t drink often I still want wine to be apart of my life but I felt like God was saying give it up. I’ve been in a fast and this has come up as something I need to surrender. I toiled because I don’t think drinking wine is wrong according to the Bible I believe getting drunk is a sin but not drinking wine. I enjoy pairing wine with foods as I explore recipes and desserts but I asked God to please help me to surrender what my life will look like in the future with out this option at all. No champagne toasts at my wedding, no wine at dinner with my husband…as threw out the unopened champagne bottle in my fridge I asked God to help me and give me a sign as well. I believe this is it. Also I do not like commenting but He said “ Leave a comment” so obviously this is for someone else as well. He loves you and is with you, God bless!

    Well, I was raised a catholic. I’m having trouble with my absolute lack of faith, and I’ve been sick lately (struggling with a chronic illness) thinking: “if really, REALLY, God helps me with this, with my faith, I’ll become a catholic again” Thanks to this video, I don’t want to be a catholic ever again. This was scary, and to me it was also so wrong in so many levels, that you’ve actually helped me. It’s only us, we help ourselves. You bless yourselves. Take care and thank you!

    • @vegangelist
      @vegangelist 23 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @mia-Wagner consider this: God isn't interested in you becoming a catholic.
      He is interested in You!! He wants you to come to Him, through Jesus. He wants you to confess him as Lord and put your faith in Him, trusting in Jesus, who He is and Jesus' work on the cross and His resurrection as the reason for your faith and the source of your hope.
      He doesn't care one bit about you "being a Catholic." He wants you to be His and in relationship with him through and because of the blood of Jesus.
      That will involve being in relationship with other Christians and, yes, meeting together with others, as the body of Christ.
      But that has nothing to do with religion, a particular denomination or being Catholic.
      I would suggest laying down any concern of catholicism and just read the Bible (just the official parts - no apocrypha required) and seek Him and come to faith in Him and see what the Bible says about Him.

    I remember coming from a season, thinking I couldn't compromise or surrender God's plans. How do you discern when surrender is from God vs compromising God's calling or standards? When do you fight for His holy bride or surrender to those who aren't ready to help build it? When is it pride or stubbornness or boldness and conviction?

    I wanted to note here it's not just about how a husband/wife feels about their spouse doing these intimate & kissing scenes in movies, it's about how God feels about a married person doing them with a person that isn't their spouse man or women. If you saw a person doing these things in real life it is cheating on their spouse as stated in God's word. I don't agree that God! No married person should kiss, hold hands or show intimate interaction with any other another person that isn't their spouse in a movie scene or any other situation. God made marriage sacred & such intimate interactions should only be between a married man & women till death do they part. Just because in movies or shows it has become the norm to do these things doesn't mean it's right & that God is ok with it, he's not!!

    When my boys were young teens and wouldn't do their chores, I'd take away their Nintendo s. But I finally decided to parent smarter and instead of hiding their game consoles, I just put a mini luggage lock through the hole on their plug end of their charging cord. When the device needed recharging, they had. No choice but to do their chores to get it unlocked😊

    Same thing with dancing. It is so beautiful, classy, elegant, graceful, athletic, puts us in the moment, brings us into connection with our bodies, makes us feel feminine and attractive, creates good posture, supports muscle tone, is very social, provides challenge and confidence, especially with performing. But it also festers with so many relational and sexual improprieties. Creates competition, jealousy, adultery. 😢

    I am 58 yrs old female who the Lord delivered from promiscuity and I turn the movies off at the kiss. I just feel funny watching an intimate moment between any man and woman. I know watching Hallmark with my Mom was always uncomfortable watching the kiss so I pray that GAM moves away from the kiss at the end. A warm tender hug is enough. ❤

    Candace, I really like and respect you, but I disagree with you on this issue of kissing another man on a movie set when you’re married. How can you be certain that the actor kissing you doesn’t feel aroused or dwell on that moment long after the scene is over? From my perspective, there doesn’t seem to be any biblical justification for this. If you genuinely reflect on it, I think you might come to see it the same way.

      It's true cause acting used to be ACTING. back then you would PRETEND kiss or they would insinuate it but would never see it. But after the 30s it was just hard core

      Being an actor doesn’t mean you stop being human or lose the ability to feel emotions and physical connection. Plenty of actors have admitted they sometimes feel a spark or excitement while filming intimate scenes. It’s unrealistic to think they’re like robots, completely detached from those moments. When Candace kisses another actor, she’s kissing a real person, not just a character. We like to say, Oh, it’s just acting, but let’s be honest-when you’re kissing someone who isn’t your spouse, it’s still real in that moment. That’s the bottom line.
      As for hugs, it’s not the same thing. My hugs with friends are quick-two seconds at most-and often just a friendly side hug, especially with guys. Comparing that to a kiss doesn’t really work. A kiss, especially one for a scene, is much more personal and intimate, so it’s a totally different conversation.

      @dwaynethomas4622 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ and some humans say they feel aroused when the hug. Most actors are professional and can kiss without feeling aroused and clingy. Again, this is a simplistic mindset. Nurses sometimes have to touch their patients genitals, it’s apart of the job & they’re grown ups. You should grow up

    This was wonderful. I loved it. On the topic of acting and kissing scene. I understand you both dealt with your husbands feelings and made decisions to support them and I am so happy. But neither of you did not mention when you went to God, when you stood before Christ and asked him if HE is OK with you kissing another man not your husband, if he was OK with it. HE is all that matters. What did Jesus say about it? I know God will NOT go against his Word on this. For whatever reason. You have to be brave to ask this question. I ask that you think about doing that.

    I want to know when this awesome wise Christian community will admit and come to discernment and grace for the truths on Christmas Easter and Sunday...
    Coming from being a practicing pagan witch... And Christ grabbing me and pulling me out i cannot deny that those days and feasts are not the Lord's they are pagan in history and nature and a massive lie the world and Satan has shadowed over this community.
