      Yeah the 8S upgrade is fantastic, there's no way I'll go back to the draggy & slow 6S Rafale, thanks & greetings!

      Yep, those Wemotec combos are really great, I had one already in my Gripen and now in my Mig-21 and this Rafale as well. Thanks for watching my vids, all the best from Belgium !

    Nice flight and good sound - congrats . But you spent a lot of bugs (350 - 450 $ ?) and work for making this already expensive jet a little bit faster.
    My stock Freewing Avanti ( 80 mm, 12 blade 1857 kv) did 197 kph (no wind) on 6S out of the box and I think it was cheaper than the update for your Rafale.

      Many thanks for your nice words! Yeah the FW Avanti is really fast already in it's stock config, but it's a sports jets and not a scale jet like the FMS Rafale. The Rafale in it's stock config is rather slow plane with very short flying times, that's why I decided to upgrade to a quality German EDF unit with a superb sound 💪 Btw, the EDF unit is really affordable and the 120A 8S ESC is very cheap. Greetings from Belgium!

      Yeh but the Avanti looks like it was made in 1980 and resembles a slug

      @Icarusthe2nd_RC_and_friends  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you very much Sébastien!!! It's a whole different plane now, very agile and fast and with a nice sound bonus! Do you own a FMS Rafale yourself? I closed the dorsal cheaters to make sure that the incomming air to the fan isn't disturbed. The belly cheater is also completely closed.

    Very good performance!
    So I take it that with open cheaters you'd likely get over 1:1 static T/W ratio?
    This makes the jet much more interesting now :)

    • @Icarusthe2nd_RC_and_friends
      @Icarusthe2nd_RC_and_friends  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Jandro !!! Sorry for the confusion, but the static thrust numbers I posted were measured with the dorsal cheaters open. but with the ventral cheater closed. The flight you see here is with every cheater closed. Stay safe!

    Amazing. Do you reckon the 6s version of this fan would make a difference from stock?

    • @Icarusthe2nd_RC_and_friends
      @Icarusthe2nd_RC_and_friends  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Daniel, thanks a lot man! If you ever want to try a Wemotec setup you should contact the shop because a lot of combos with different motors are possible. I'm convinced that a 6S Wemotec unit with a similar kv as the stock FMS motor would be more efficient and give you longer flighttimes, that's basically one of the reason why I have a lot of Wemotec setups in my planes. However, IMO the stock 6S FMS EDF unit with the 2100kv motor in the Rafale is a pretty good setup already, I wouldn't pay for a different 6S unit. An 8S Wemotect setup is another thing of course. If you want more speed and thrust out of the stock FMS setup in this plane you should really consider to change the outlets to the proper (smaller) diameter. You can find a Rafale vid on my channel showing/explaining this. Feel free to ask more if needed! Greetings from Belgium 🍻

    I'm just about to purchase the lipos and edf for this upgrade. Could I ask what brand lipos u use? 4mins is great for 4500mah on 8s. What leanght servo lead extensions did u need? And why close the cheater intakes? Thanks

    • @Icarusthe2nd_RC_and_friends
      @Icarusthe2nd_RC_and_friends  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, I'm using RoaringTop 4S 4500mAh 25C lipos. I used what I had available in my spares for servo lead extensions, so different lengths actually. Since the air intakes are sufficient already for a 80mm fan, there's no need for cheaters which disturb the incomming air so closing them is the best options. Greetings from Belgium 🍻
