There are hundreds of videos on this subject in youtube. But you are standing out of all because of your simplicity but precise way of explaining. It is very clear to me. Thanks for your good job.
Thanks a lot... This made my day..... Keep sharing.. keep supporting...
Hai sir, Really useful video. I have worked in SIEMENS and ABB as a electrical engineer but i have realized that i need to improve my technical skills. Your video gives good technical knowledge so keep it up!! And please add more video about relay coordination with upstream and downstream including discrimination time. Atleast add 11/0.433 kV incomer system and two LT motors of small kW rating then please give lecturer about relay setting calculation by considering EI,VI,NI curves. Thanks in Advance!!
Thank you for your comment. I will make video on the co ordination of relays. It may take some time, but I promise you that i will make video on those topic. Pleasr stay connected with my channel.

Sir, everything was okay. you calculated everything but I don’t know where come from 60 m/sec? Pickup -5A, TSM-0.17, say time-0.5sec. But why you don’t use calculated value? 0.5+6=0.56 sec!!!
I am from Philippines and i really appreciate this channel. This is very importamtivve
Share with your friends.....
Thanks a lot for the clear explanation
But i have a question how do we find the value of the required operation time which you have equal to 0.5 sec
Thank you for teaching. I like these VDO.
Can you please share the fault current formula you have used?
We have MVA actual, Voltage actual, and per unit impedance.
How do I derive this formula?
Please give me an example about the NPS setting and required unbalance current of the transformer to operate the relay.and also describe the TMS setting.thanks
Bro why did you add 60ms to 0.5s? What is the 60ms? What is the difference between the 0.5s and 60ms?
At last you have added 60ms in the Breaker Operating time, Is that you converted 0.17Sec=60ms?

What is the use of TMS value calculated in the video?
Take me back to Electrical protection III, thank you sir for this information.
th-cam.com/video/ISdnXvNDRvc/w-d-xo.html
Sir in definition you are saying pick up current as 120% of full load current however in calculation you are dividing it by CT ratio. I guess definition should be corrected. Similarly for PSM.
i have 2 x In given as 2 x 0.1A, time is 0.23 TMS, and Ia=0.1A TMS is fixed value does my relay operation time is different with fault current or it will always operate on same time which i set ? As i see you calculated fault current as with fixed values for PSM
no, for different fault current the psm will be different. the setting calculation is made based on the design fault current, where the fault impedances are ignored, to get the worst condition. but in actual there are fault impedance which reduces the fault current. so your relay operating time will vary. and that is the principle of idmt characteristics. inverse time, i.e. for higher fault current the operating time will be lower and for lower fault current the operating time will be higher.
ELECTRICAL TECHNOLOGY and INDUSTRIAL PRACTICE in my case no where written in serting that its IDMT its only written as Characteristic A whats that means curve?
@@TecKideos
As per IEC standard curve A means IEC standard inverse curve...
Great work by you
Very informative Sir. Wish more and more will come in the same way
What standards for calculation of protective relay setting calculation
I have doubt in. What is pick up and pick up value is 5A or 1*CT sec /In is same?
Hello brother, my question is if i have given only characteristic A for ABB relay and fixed TMS by the designer does tripping time vary with fault current?
yes
Yes. Idmtl characteristicvary with time
Clear and concise explanation.well done
Very nice. Thank u Sirji
Which technical book should we use for 50/51/50N/51N settings
Thank you! amazing work!
Thanks sir for the precise information, great work by you

Thanks for the video. Please let me know why does t is taken as 0.5 sec only
its depends on system withstandable sc current . For example breaker sc rating 40KA For 1sec, so rated fault current should be cleared within that time
Thank you so much sir please make another differential protection relay vedio
Very good. Thanks 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you,
It is what I needed.
Thank you dear. It enhanced my clarity.
Very important lesson 👌👌👌
Thanks you so much for your great video , Please tell me what is ( 0.02 & 0.14) in your calculation is it constant ?

Thank you sir, very informative video🙏🙏,Plz Upload new video☑️
Thanks for this video
Nice one
Hi sir good evening
How can we select ct of 4000a when the fault current is More than the CT ratio. How can CT sustains excess current. Kindly let me know sir.
Every equipment has a continuous current rating and a short time withstand rating. Short circuit falls under short time category. That is why you need to specify ct as say 2000/1A, 50kA for 1 sec. High fault current will be tolerated only for 1 sec.

I have a question, what is the time which relay needs to clear the fault?
Check my relay co ordination video
hi sir .how did you get psm value 0.02
Psm= fault current/pick up current
Thanks for solving my problem
bro, may i know where did you got 0.14 in the calculation?
it is iec standard inverse relay characteristics. i have a video on different relay characteristics. watch that. your doubts will be cleared.
thanks for information
while calculating TMS, we have assume t=0.5 sec so how we can assume this data?

its depends on system withstandable sc current . For example breaker sc rating 40KA For 1sec, so rated fault current should be cleared within that time
i love your video
thank you. i was so clear
Sir u said that pick up current is equal to pick up of relay then y u didn't put the 5A in denominator of PSM formula sir instead u multiply 120%with full load current, y so sir?
If so sir what is the difference between pick up of relay with CT value in formula and pick up current without CT value in formula which u have used in denominator of PSM? Kindly explain clearly sir!!
see suppose you have full load current 100A, Ct ratio of 120/1 A, then if you say i will set the relay to pick up at 120% of flc the your pick up will be 100*1.2*1/120=1
incase your ct secondary is 5A then the oick up shall be 5

Sir it is requested make the formula correct,
PSM is the ratio between fault current in secondary of CT to pick up current.
Fault current/ pick up current. Either both shall be primary or secondary.

Please tell me how you said breaker operating time 60ms added.
in generally breaker operating time is 60 mSec. the breaker contacts need 60 mSec time to completely extinguish the arc.
