a motor operates on the principle of electromagnetic induction, which does not require a neutral connection. Moreover in case of earth fault( phase to earth) relay can't detect the fault and motor winding mayl get burn and there is only loss no benefit...
When power supply has been unavailable for a period of time or motor is not in running state for long period of time so that the load has reached a COLD STATE before being re-energized .
