Silver is like a parent that thinks spoiling their child will make the child more compliant and mature in the long run. Well he's starting to learn that philosophy is dead wrong. Honestly at this point I think the best way to make players care for the game more would be to introduce new contract conditions which pays them a minimum, with the potential for a greater guaranteed amount based on performance. As it stands the minimum base guarantees are way to high and that's how you get Simmons.
This is a GREAT point. They need to lock the league out and institute play for pay initiatives. Sadly, the only thing that will get through to THIS generation is paying them/making them EARN their money.
I think I’ve hit the point where I realize that there are so many kids out there dying for a chance to get to the league, that maybe we SHOULD let these clowns walk and let a new crop in that will play harder for less money, but increase the pay based on things that aren’t just based on All-Star and stats. That lasted until Curry started chucking 3s and fucked up the game.

Great points here. Luka Doncic is averaging nearly a 35 point triple double in the NBA right now, can barely dunk a basketball lol and has multiple times pointed out the ease of the game here as opposed to overseas...
The biggest fix that can be implemented IMMEDIATELY to help solve the defensive problem is to simply allow for hand checking again... that will allow the people who WANT TO play defensive basketball the ability to do so It would be like unleashing the beast within someone that has been waiting on the green light to get after it!

If Someone calls a Physical Sport Too Physical,Proceeds To Neutered Defenders,Allows Players to Request Trades Before their Contracts End,Bribe Players to play Harder,Is Biased On Player Suspensions,Allow Refs to Rig Games. I don’t Watch It anymore Bc What Silver/Lebron did to the Game
Here's a novel idea: why not observe basic basketball rules and have the refs actually call palming and traveling when it occurs. Then, we would see some real basketball.
This is the biggest reason the nba doesn't feel right when I'm watching. The dribbler can't be contained and chaos ensues on defense because of it. Mean while the dribble is palming the ball.
Silver is full of s--t. The game was never "too physical." And it didn't deemphasize particular skills of players either. If anything, it brought their various strengths out even more. It was a man's game back them. Skap articulates it perfectly. This is the weakest, inflated era of suck basketball in the history of the NBA period.
My solution is to make the NBA all stars play the G-league All-Stars. Since the NBA players don’t appreciate the opportunity they’ve been presented let the G leaguers remind them of what true hunger for success looks like. Pay the G leaguers to play the game and a bonus to win. Give them bonuses for poster dunks on NBA players, steals, rebounds and holding the entire team to less than 100 points for the game.
Hand checking is not the reason defense isn’t physical, it’s the 3-second violation that stops defense around the hoop. Players are playing similar defense to players back then. If anything players try to defend in a way to not cause an injury. Which is in my opinion commendable.
+1. Interesting perspective. Honestly, the lack of defense and intensity has gotten so bad that I think they should do both. Allow hand checking *AND* get rid of the defensive 3 second rule.
@@fro334bro I think hand checking IS ALLOWED but defenders can’t use it to disrupt the offensive players shot. I’ve seen many instances of guys hand checking the offensive player but when they do that the offensive player forces the foul just by running into the arm. I think taking the 3-second rule away would just make teams spam 3 point shots even more which would I turn make things worse then they already are. And even then players are so much better at shooting the 3 that people may still not pack the paint.
The defense that is being played in today's game is nowhere similar to how players played defense back then. When the 3 second rule was implemented in the NBA at the start of the 2001-2002 season, teams were still playing physical defense despite centers and power forwards not being able to stand freely in the paint under the basket without guarding anyone. It was more of the hand-checking that allowed players to be physical, as evident of the points per game average in the league at that time which was around 98. When hand-checking was taken away in '04, the league's points per game average had risen significantly into the 100s, despite some of the players who were still playing physical defense. So no.. the 3 second rule isn't the sole reason for the lack of physical defense. It's the hand-checking that was taken away on top of players just being plain damn lazy on defense.
Silvers job now is for him to quit, let someone else take over. Remove all Silvers fingerprints in basketball and start over. NBA needs saving just like what Larry and Magic did and they need another MJ to elevate the game. MAKE NBA GREAT AGAIN.

Silver is sitting around in his mansion with no testosterone & a bird chest thinking, "if I'm scared of these large men in the paint, the average viewer of this sport is, too. Better take defense away from the game & have a 48 minute shoot around count towards the teams' records. That'll help the game."
LeBron is starting to speak out now when he is at the end of his career and he sees these younger players putting up better numbers than he did when he was their age. Skap doesn't let this manipulator get away with anything.

I promise you, it feels like these years' finals or even more tense and tough. At least watch the last 3-4 minutes of the 4th quarter and the overtime, a real battle, real basketball.
Come on...this is a PLAYER driven league....you gave 'em the keys, this is what you got. They're enabled and spoiled from childhood through the AAU. They pick thier coaches and teamates. Players who don't give a rat's ass about winning....just building thier individual "brand," and drinking Cristal while hanging at "strip clubs." Who's highlight of the season is hanging with LeFraud at the All-star game.
I look forward every day to another dose of truth and straight up facts. Thank you mr. Skap for keeping it real and for calling out these pathetic clowns who ruined the league we all love !
Skap, man additionally to all the things you say about the rule changes, someone should talk about two main things not talked about. They talk about the physicality going down, but that's only on the defensive side. There two key features on offense where physicality has increased only in the favor of the offense. These two things are illegal screens and offensive shouldering players out of legal guarding positions. A screen cannot be set without leaving one step for the defender to adjust to the screen. That's why before people would set the screen a foot or two away from the defender, and then the offensive player would move towards the screen and defender could change directions either go under or over or switch. Now they are allowing players to set the screen repeatedly setting the feet all the way up to touching the defender, so the defender has the screen set without the rule required space and the defender cannot avoid the screen because it's set right on him. That is ilegal and I cannot watch basketball because of it. That is a level of physicality that was not allowed and it's unfair to the defense. The second is if a player is driving with the ball, he has to always be in control of his movement, while dribbling he cannot run over people or shoulder them out of the way. They confuse the defense is supposed to have their feet set to draw a charge with the defender moving in a legal guarding position on defense. So no the level of physicality allowed on offense is more than the rules allow because if you are driving you can push into the defender shoulder him repeatedly, euro step through him and if he is in the way (which obviously he will be if he tries to defend) that is considered blocking by him or if they don't call a blocking foul it's an amazing play by the offensive player "wow bullying his way to the basket". That is f'n bs. That is an offensive foul, the person can move while defending and being defending is not illegal. They have to call offensive foul how it was correctly called back in the day if not Karl Malone would have been the GOAT if he was allowed to play like that. Also you couldn't run and raise your knee and go through someone with the knee, that was offensive foul. You couldn't jump shoot through the defender leaning right through him ripping him. That was offensive foul. You had to go vertical and be in control and slide by people. This has to stop and someone has to call this out.
Forgot to mention the bs where you can't guard jumpshots, because if you go for a block or contest a jumpshot obviously you have to be close to the offensive player. They took the rule where you have to give a space to land to the player or it could be even a flagrant and for sure a foul and they ran with it and now if they go for a jump shot you better not get close if not they just have to touch you with feet and fall backwards or in a split style side contortion and it's a foul. Look at the people contesting the jumpshots on Kobe in the video, with these rules all he had to do was shoot then raise his knees a bit and fall touching you and it's an and one. That is f'n bs, and every jumpshot contest is a foul if they do this flop garbage. If you can talk about this bs that would be great Skap.
The NBA all-star team should have to play the college basketballs top seniors in an Allstar game. Playing for their pride would make them play better, and the college kids could get a taste of the big leagues.
It’s not just the NBA. The entire American basketball system from CYO to AAU to the NCAA is toast. It’ll take 30 years to recover if radical changes aren’t implemented soon. We’ve conceded our dominance on the sport to Europe. Not just in talent, but the system that creates a much more interesting competition. Euro league is far superior to everything we have here. How they develop youth, how they coach, and how their season and tournaments are set up.
In addition to removing the arm-bar rule, the defensive 3 second rule has been just as much a contributing factor as the lazy entitled player mentality in this new crop of players. Silver created a monster.
To this guy, what is "skill"? The ability to score when shooting a wide open shot? Is there nothing else that can be included as a basketball skill? Like (shh!) defense, or rebounding, or shot blocking, etc.? When we get to the point where a person can make, say, 40% of full court shots, are we at the pinnacle of basketball skill?
Well I mean when you disguise a bum as the best player ever and the face of your league this is what you get and as much as I hate to see the NBA go down hill I am enjoying watching the lies get exposed.
hand checking is not the problem with the nba that’s a lazy and weak take the real problem is the 3 second rule that spaced the floor making it easier getting to the rim
Well, a lot of fans don't know that handchecking is actually been banned from the NBA since 1979, it took until 2004 to clarify the language and start completely enforcing the rule.
@@blacklightdrew hand checking does nothing to the elite of elite players having a open lane to the rim with no 7fter to contest you is the difference maker
@@Alex-fv6wr Well, that's why they are elite players , but handchecking offers resistance to the lane, cause stronger defenders steer a player to into help defense, although removing 3 seconds would do nothing to fix the defense issues because a coach can run a 5 out offense with a stretch 4-5 or small ball lineup to make the big have to play defense on the perimeter. The Clippers did it Utah in 2021, and Rudy was rendered unplayable on defense.
@@blacklightdrew in the playoffs that’s different from the regular season jj reddick already admitted that there is hand checking in the league it’s silly to use that weak excuse the players now are a lot better than they were in the 80s-90s you can’t get a spot on the team just for being big anymore good defense always loses to great offense and the offense now is stupid
@Alex-fv6wr did I say that the players of today are better, no so don't create a strawman argument. Removing 3 seconds doesn't work since teams can space with the 3 ball, and the NBA is a copycat league. Having the center camping in the paint only worked in the 80s through the early 2000s since the coaching philosophy was to as close to the basket for higher percentage shots. Now you have teams that play from the perimeter, also shooters like Steph and Dame who warp the defense on the due to their gravity alone creating lanes to the basket for layups. So tell me that don't know ball without me telling that don't know ball. Because your replies suggest it ✌️.
What's so hilariously ironic is the physical nature of the game forced players who were more skilled to stick out like a sore thumb. There were always athletic freaks of nature and that will never change. However, historically, the greatest players were the most skilled and fundamentally sound players in the league. They were experts at their position and played their respective roles well, often showcasing their excellence on both ends of the court. The knee-jerk reaction to fix the game as if it was broken is what ruined the NBA. The league always adjusts to suit the BEST players in the game. The 90s adjusted because almost all the best or more dominant players were bigs. These entitled, Primadonnas have made those rule changes even worse because they simply don't care to compete like the old guard.

How BAD the league has become?
We have players and FANS saying _"All Star Game is JUST _*_a MEANINGLESS game_*_ so why try hard that i/they could end up getting injured?"_
Like, F*CK THAT!! These folks are disrespecting "the game" itself, taking for granted the chance to be in the most popular basketball league with LOTS of perks.
Just go back to the 2013 game with Kobe in his 17th year LOCKING PRIME league MVP LeBron down. There are NO players in TODAY'S league with THAT mentality. That is a BIG part of the problem. BUT, Silver has empowered this bad behavior...AND rewarded it. It was a perfect storm to DESTROY the league.
What’s funny about that is that I was watching a vid where these guys said “when was the last time a player got seriously injured in a all star game?”. In the 73 years of the all star game there’s been one serious injury and that was Wade breaking Kobe’s nose. Mind you Kobe didn’t sit out games because of it😂
@@skap_attackwatching that back LBJ is visibly pissed at Kobe... he didn't like that level of play on his "off day"
@@DADON99 yes, players and fans ARE TOO SCARED of "what if". The negativity is the reason why they are taking this LM bullshiii only to "get injured" (with or without contact) in the playoffs. It is a meaningless game anyway 🤦

Allen Iverson not playing practice and everybody loses their minds, now you have fraud kings and clowns not playing 20 games to a full season, and the NBA is ok with it. lol
I have been saying this for years. I am so annoyed with Silver. He doesn't clearly care about fans.
I don't understand this push for offensive inflation, really I don't. Quite candidly, it has been going on in all four major professional American sports. I mean DEFENSE IS half of the game. YES, we want to see GREAT offense. BUT there cannot be truly great offense when no defense at all is being played.
@@skap_attack I 100% agree with you! I used to play CB at football (soccer) and was a defensive wrestler and that's my family sport through n through. Even when I started playing basketball in college yrs and after that I was a defense specialist. So the last 15yrs of me watching the NBA have been a torture to say the least!!
Even when he’s shitting on Silver, he’s still dropping Gold content for us 👌🏽

Money is the root of all evil. Every single team sport is experiencing less than stellar product. Every commissioner emphasize offense than defense. It should be a balance of both
100 percent. Almost all sports now are rigged to some extend because there is millions at stake in betting every game.
Love of money is the root of all evil.
Silver is too obessed with building the NBA in more and more markets that he isn't doing the day to day maintenance that a commissioner needs to do. The state of the game is horrid. I feel like I am going to look up and a game is going to be 301 to 304 going into the 4th.
Simple Lebum, reintroduce the rules the 90s game had and bring back defence.
Lets see how many keep their 30 plus avg.
In any organization you cannot give the employees more power than management. NBA is a perfect case study for what happens when you do
EXACTLY right. The inmates, so to speak, are running the NBA's asylum currently. We need some adults back in the room.
But but but commies love companies to be ran run by employees 😂😂😂
You need to have a balance where you can't have employees doing whatever they want and you cannot have management running roughshod over people.
Straight up wrong. There were companies in my former country (Yugoslavia) where workers' council had power. Even in Germany to this day you have companies with workers councils that have power to this day. In fact, the workers council stopped outsourcing the German car industry out of Germany.
@@DipsAndPushups Yugoslavia is not diverse like America. Culture-wise they're very different. And German car companies can't compete with china made. Volkswagen is losing money
The viewership for the NBA all star games were highest when Mj and Kobe were playing. Now they are non existent by comparison
Skap guy is on a mission and giving us daily documentaries with facts, not just simple videos.
Count all-defensive teams, DPOY, MVP, playoffs and championships as the bar to get paid.
In the 90s I thought NBA players were superheroes. My parents used to say "there's no way an Argentine player gets to the NBA, look at those guys, they can fly"
And it wasn't about MJ. Folks overstate MJs impact in the popularity of the league. The dream team was the key event that kick-started the global NBA we know today.
It was about all the superstars and teams I watched NBA for Barkley, Kemp , Stockton, Malone, Drexler, O Neal, Olajuwon, Robinson, Rodman, Grant, Pippen...
That lasted until Curry started chucking 3s and fucked up the game.
If David stern was still alive he would still fine refs and players that do not respect the rules of the NBA like Ja Morant

@@hashmoncrief6965wtf are you talking about Bron never got in trouble?
-- Well that explains it all brother. Silver thinks late 80s to late 90s ball was 'gross'? That was the GOLDEN ERA of the league.
adam silver must go before the game we love falls into shambles. marketing the game overseas will NOT save it. bring back defense and make centers and power forwards relevant again on the paint. its so painful to watch even centers shooting 3s. thats why they struggle at international competition, and their best players are europeans who said that euroleague is much harder than these clown show now named NBA
Great points here. Luka Doncic is averaging nearly a 35 point triple double in the NBA right now, can barely dunk a basketball lol and has multiple times pointed out the ease of the game here as opposed to overseas...

The biggest fix that can be implemented IMMEDIATELY to help solve the defensive problem is to simply allow for hand checking again... that will allow the people who WANT TO play defensive basketball the ability to do so
It would be like unleashing the beast within someone that has been waiting on the green light to get after it!
This era will be known as the generation that killed basketball

The First Instance I Knew Silver was Biased was when he allowed Draymond to be suspended in ‘16 Finals but not the WCF when he Kicked Adams in the 🥜
What’s crazy is they play no defense yet still struggle to score 30 ppg.
If anyone else was the commissioner and saw this nba product they would’ve been so disappointed and embarrassed. I think Adam needs to address this.
He does, he should, he can. BUT it will be difficult, and it will likely cost the league money in the short term. Likely things he is not willing to accept. So we are just going to continue down the toilet...
Had to come back and give respect to this video, very well done bro!!! 👏💯🎯

RIP David Stern the GOAT commissioner

Skap is a MFkin' SAVAGE. 😂
Thank you!
Finally some common sense
enough with that hand checking BS
It is both, it is also moving screens on offense, as well as uncalled travels and carries

Silver is proof that Aliens exist 👽
Imagine being so tone deaf to the league you're in charge of. A contact sport being too physical. It's like thinking swimmers are too wet in the pool. Silver is sitting around in his mansion with no testosterone & a bird chest thinking, "if I'm scared of these large men in the paint, the average viewer of this sport is, too. Better take defense away from the game & have a 48 minute shoot around count towards the teams' records. That'll help the game."
I'm just sad that lebum did not recognize what the problem is.. HIM..
I like when someone says Lebron is the goat, it shows me he doesn't know basketball and I shouldn't waste my time talking about it with him.

Just woke up, better then any cup of coffee ☕
The problem is also guaranteed contracts
America as a whole is a fuckin joke and circus act
Oooooh 2:12. Thx for reminding me of that play. That was a crazy block. Back when defense meant something.

STRAIGHT FACTS HERE 💯🎯
hand checking is not the problem with the nba that’s a lazy and weak take the real problem is the 3 second rule that spaced the floor making it easier getting to the rim
I always die laughing at the Jon Hamm nodding clip😂
