Overseas basketball is more similar to NBA than college, College is very systemized with less spacing.
Him & gelo was basically having their way over there, it’s insane when you look at what they did on that team together. Didn’t have a college coach holding him back & he basically got to be him & round out his game some more. It’s crazy that this style of play he’s held onto since he was like 15 is still working. The whole Charlotte Hornets team is down with injury and they were still able to come close. No centre, no back up centre, starting Forward injured, 6th man injured. People really hating on Melo's 50 for shooting 17-38 but they clap when Giannis got 59 shooting 21-34. When you look at the stat breakdown there ain't much difference.
Melo shot 6-17 from 3. 11-21 from the field and 10-13 on free throws.
35% from 3, 53% from the field and 77% from free throws. Not as bad as it looks tbh.
Giannis shot 1-2 from 3, 20 of 32 field goals and 16-17 free throws.
50% from 3, 62.5% from the field and 94% free throws.
Giannis is super impressive but you take into account the difficulty of the shots as well and its actually pretty even.
Giannis scores a lot of dunks or right under the rim, and Melo takes a lot of floaters/jumpshots.
They're not that far off if they had the same difficulty of shots taken
