2:39 One of the many amazing moments within those three minutes. I mean, listen how exactly the cello section is playing together...
Wow is that clean playing. And every accent nailed perfectly.
WONDERFUL. .As we dreamed in Venezuela when we were studentsthanks to Abreu .Now a venezuelan conducts! The power of dreams is fantastic. Everything as every musician likes:articulation, sound, precision.FANTASTIC
Dudamel is great, ever performance I hear conducted by him is always A+ work.
This movement from the fifth symphony is pure magic. Prokofievs motives is so strong, exciting and beautiful!
one of the best symphony combination; dudamel, berliner and prokofiev!! great thanks! of course full video on channel ;)
This is pure motivation to practice more :). literally my favorite piece, favorite conductor, favorite orchestra!
Que podemos decir......sin palabras......Dudamel le has puesto sabor a esta obra. Bellisimo!!!!
Simply no words. Dudamel just added the exact amount of exquisite flavor..... as always.... Beautiful
I agree, best orchestra in the world. They are golden on anything they play.
Espectacular Gustavo...!!! El nuevo concepto de una verdadera direccion....!!! Buenisimo...!!! Que sigan los exitos y todo de memoria....!!!
Subtleties in Prokofiev. Dudamel is lightweight, safe with extraordinary musicality. Bravo! BRZ
This is so beautifully played.
I agree this is the best orchestra in the world!
Dudamel has a profound understanding of this piece. He has memorized the score. Few conductors are capable of this. This shows his extreme intelligence. He is setting a new standard for conductors. Check out Christian Vasquez doing Mahler's 2nd. He has replaced Dudamel in the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra in Venezuela.
I totally agree. Dudamel is young, fresh, enthusiastic about music and very talented. I had the pleasure to see him and the Simon Bolivar orchestra in Sept. 08 - it was just fantastic.
Of course, those who are Karajan-believers will not appreciate this latin, young freshness.
I do. :-)
This symphony is a lush treat...both for musicians as for conductor...I loved it to play and I was so lucky to do it for the very first time with an great conductor and composer Jorge Sarmientos from Guatemala...sure and very precise hand + his exceptional musical culture were just an amazing guide...love this intense and full of refined jokes music...is a banquet for musical Gourmet, really...
Karajan was amazing...I wish I was around when he was. I was born a few months after his death.
But I do enjoy Dudamel. He pulls the right amount of energy from the orchestra. They all look, and sound, like they are having a ball.
I enjoy his movements, it adds spice to the music.
Did 60 minutes do a thing on Dudamel? I remember watching something online about a new, rising, conductor. It was good.
cant get enough of this.
Thank you for the dose of reason and sanity.
Exactly! we need it!
I absolutely enjoy Prokofiev's sensitivity.
This is one of the most exhilarating pieces I've ever played. haha love this piece
Dudamel brings South American fire to this piece ! All is great !
Prokofiev e Dudamel, combinação perfeita. Amazing!!
with no partiture! awesome!!
I love it!
@SchwarzeDose21 He plays the double base. He beat out ninty four who auditioned for the rare opening at the BPO. At seventeen, he was the youngest musician admitted in the 100 year history of the BPO, and the first Latino ever.
Gorgeous!🎼🎼🎼🎻🎼🎼🎻🎼💫💫💫🎶🎶🎶🎶🎻
Dudamel & Prokofiev espíritos juvenis! Fantástico!
Pretty terrific. Just heard the Oregon Symphony perform this. No flies on them!!!!
very exciting!
I believe that that posting this, they do not have idea of what is a jewel in brute! Dudamel is a person who with any orchestra can touch up to the soul, many people think that it is a overated, but we have a very popular saying that he says, nobody is a golden currency to sympathize with the whole world!
Eso es puro orgullo Venezolano. Mi hermoso país.. ADELANTE!!
Amazing!!!
Yes, there is a 60 min. thing. If you search for DUDAMEL 60 MINUTOS you will probably find it.
I guess that every orchestra playing with him has great fun.
amazing!
electrifying
Prokofiev soars above everything else especially all of the petty arguments on this page. The 5th symphony affirms our existence on this planet.
Unfortunately not. It is only available in the Digital Concert Hall.
Wonderful🎼💙🎼💙🎼💙💖💖💖🎶🎶🎶💫💫🎼🎼
I hope that they forgive me, but I believe that it is custión of tastes, and respect your opinions, but this boy is revolutionizing the classic music all over the world, and is from a tropical country, is Latin, and many do not want to understand it, because they wanted to have the director with complicated surname directing the philharmonic of Berlin or the philharmonic of Vienna!
This is a symphony I would like to see live. As good as Shostakoviches
i love this!
Fantastica armonía ¡¡¡
Very Very Good!!! Master Big Composer!
estos si son maestros¡¡¡¡
Great Berliner Philharmoniker....but Dudamel I think that is overstated
Dudamel is great¡¡¡
I always think of Fellini's 8 1/2 score when I hear this movement. Its not it, though....Love it. What a joy. Cuts off too soon...
I get the feeling the orchestra really enjoys playing this one...
At 2:28 you can see the first Latino and the youngest member, at eighteen, ever to join the BPO, Edicson Ruiz countryman of Gustavo Dudamel. Thank you Venezuela.
CD worthy. Deutsche Grammophon are you listening?
@padredemishijos12 thanks! the video, you suggested is awesome! never thought, that a double bass can sound so nice :)
Fino fino !!!
wow
Booooooomb 💣💣💣💣💥💥💥💥 piece by my adored Gustavito💋💋💋💖!!!
lovely music, maybe not the best of BPO, but really impressive...
adorable musica, tal vez no lo mejor del BPO, pero realmente impresionante...
zseniális zene
Just an excerpt, but refreshing!
Is it just me or has anyone heard the sound at 1:40 in some movie or movie trailer? I am pretty sure I've heard it before just can figure out where.
Quite the melodist is Prokofiev.
I think Beethoven would love this..
I think so, this music is very sophisticated.
@jaykay2003 Especially Bernard Herrmann (Psycho) and Danny Elfman (who BTW, I love both of them):)
Can I buy an audio recording of this performance?
I would have set up the orchestra in a different way for this piece. The 1st and 2nd violins rarely play the same thing, so I would put them on either side of the conductor, have the violas next to the 1st violins, keeping the cellos and basses at the same place.
I also love how every member of the orchestra moves with the music at the same times.
@dicthash You are mistaken, and you are a revisionist. Shostakovich's father was a Polish anarchist and anti tsar. After Stalin died, Shostakovich wrote the symphony that was closest to his heart, Symphony Number 12, 1917. In my opinion his best. Shostakovivh was a true believer, and above all a huminist.
At 0:56 the second President of the United States, John Adams, returns from the other side to make a brisk, reedy cameo.
🤣😂
Prokofiev/Dudamel 2012!
PROKOFIEEEEEEVVVVVVVV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@SchwarzeDose21 He plays the double base, and his head is turned. He beat out ninty four who auditioned for the rare opening at the BPO. At seventeen, he was the youngest musician admitted in the 100 year history of the BPO, and the first Latino ever. Check "Edicson Ruiz koussevitzky" on youtube.
That bassoonist at 2:03 is cute! (Also a good bassoonist.)
Does the BPO have a recording of Prokofiev's Symphony No.5?
Quite the melodist is Prokofiev. What movement is this by the way?
which movement is this?
The last movement.
My Mrs the name of the piece is allegro marcato! 😁😘
The second 2
Berlin rock in out
SORRY I DIDN'T FINISH, I MEANT TO COMMENT THE BERLIN PHIL IS A STUPENDOS ORCHESTA, THE CLASSICAL ORCHESTRATIONS AND PLAYING UNDER DIFFERENT MAESTROS IS ALWAYS SUPERB, THEY BRING OUT THE BEST OF EVERY ROCK AS WELL THEIR PLAYING WITH SCORPIO WAS.OFF THE CHAIN, TO ME THE MEN & WOMEN MUSICIANS IN THIS ORCHESTRA ARE T HE BEST IN THE BUSINESS. ALTHOUGH I AM SURPRISED BY NOW MORE PEOPLE OF COLOR SHOULD BE IN MORE OF THESE EUROPEAN ORCHESTRAS,THAT'S THE ONLY GRIPE I HAVE WITH EUROPEAN ORCHESTRAS, I THOUGHT THEY WERE MORE SAFISTICATED. ANYWAY THE PLAYING WITH SCORPIO WAS FABULOUS.
What model of tuba is that?
@alejoeisabel after stalin died shostakovich wrote his 10th symphony, for example, the 2nd movement is a musical portait of stalin and shows his madness and inner agitation! he could never have done something like that when stalin was still alive!
@jason101other there is not such a thing as "the best orchestra in the world" there are many top orchestra's and do not forget conductors, because they have an enormous influence on the orchesta, orchestra's playing the same part, can sound very differently lead by another conductor who has a different view on how a certain peace of music should sound like. So some orchestra's excel in playing Bach other are magnificent playing Mozart, like paintings today Rembrandt and tomorrow van Gogh
IT's fun to see the orchestra struggling to meet Dudamel's demanding calls for passion and energy.
can somebody tell me what is the name of that instrument at 1:40? (that percussion sounding one)
Jillian Del Rosario Think it's just an ordinary wood block
@avakrob Amen!
@padredemishijos12 which instrument? who?
Hermoso ELCONDOR PASA por LOS NINOS CANTORES DE VIENA
Yes, of course, but the spanish language also is universal. It's spoken by more than 300 million people.
(previous traduction: The opinion of a compatriot of Dudamel is not objective..Dudamel has to mature still very much. Lead the best orchestras of the world as the Berliner Ph..or the Wiener Ph. doesn't mean that every piece that lead is gold..)
ps. my english is poor...sorry
I know that Shostakovich hated Stalin, and I suspect admired Trotsky. He was luckier than Federico Garcia Lorca, killed by Franco.
actually that's not really okay, 'cause not everyone will understand you.. but what Lonegan63 made isn't okay either, he began on english and then commented on spanish... I mean, if you want to speak spanish do so, there will be someone else talking spanish (like me), but if you talk on english you may keep talking on english at least on that comment...
anyway I LOVE the fact youtube is full of many languages, but don't abuse of that...
@dicthash Very doubtful. He was phobic to Russian Nationalist and the anti Jewish pogroms. He was however a Russian Anti-nationalist, ie, pro Soviet. He did after all establish the Red Army that smashed the German Army and defeated Germany, and saved the world and Russia from becoming Greater Germany. I think the world owes gratitude to Trotsky the ultimate anti Stalinist and pro Russian.
Half of which AREN'T German, and one's from el Systema....sheesh! But the Berlin Phil is tops.
ドゥダメルにベルリン・フィルでこの曲の
CD出してほしい!
first chair looks "soooooo" stiff, has anyone else noticed?
what is the mestro name ?
Bilal moh Dudamel
Part of being an artist is being able to interpret and assimilate different time periods and their historical meanings. It is impossible to have lived every situation. For instance,I doubt current musicians lived through the classical period yet they perform Mozart...
@dicthash 75% Russian and 25% Polish Catholic from Belorus.
@EDGJZConglomerate
its 2nd movement - allegro marcato
prokofiev - one of the great Russian composers!
I like how this sounds, but I don't know how to play any instrument!
DUDAMEL ES LA LEY!!!!!
@oliee87 We do not need to spend money on education because we can import cheep engineers from Poland and cheep scientist from the former Soviet Union. Look how much we save on education. We are very grateful for all your intellectual workers. If you have a low education we will be glad to accecpt you as a mercenary.
