- I set up the camera before we took shelter in the bathroom. Needless to say, we were shocked when we watched this.
After the initial crazy stuff about 1 minute in, you can jump to around 6 minutes in. That's when we came out and saw what happened.

This is one of the most illustrative videos of the Raleigh outbreak. I am a meteorologist and the storm in this video definitely has the hallmark signs of a tornado...complete with rotation and RFD. Hopefully, damage sustained to your home was minimal. Thanks for sharing.
Truly amazing video; a stationary camera left looking out into the tornado is so fascinating. Without having someone have to hold it, it gets amazing footage whilst people can safely take shelter - and has the benefit of not shaking around! Quite a close call, as well. One of the better tornado impact videos out there, I'd say.

Apparently there was a tornado in Raleigh that day as evidenced in other videos on that same date from the same location. However, this appears more like a strong downburst from the same storm, not a tornado.

That was the slowest and lightest "tornado" I've ever watched. I couldn't even tell it was. Are they sure it wasn't just gusts of wind? Why do they care about their material possessions?

Looks like everything in your yard ended up in your neighbors yard.
People think this is a Microburst. Nope it's a Tornado. People thought it was an EF 1. Nope EF 4 actually. Don't believe me? Trust me I was NEAR this Tornado. Thank Goodness it Passed over us.
i live in franklin county which is right above you guys ,,i remember that day ..its the first time i ever actually heard a tornado ,,thank God it passed over us ,
I'm glad you guys are okay. Its crazy that you can see it pass by over the hilltop! I live in Alabama, and April 27 was horrific for us, we live in Jacksonville, AL. We had a high end EF4 destroy my community where I grew up about 4 miles north of the city. My heart goes out to everyone this year affected by the storms!
Could potentially be, looks like you dodged a huge bullet right there, the wind certainly picked up, and there was definitely rotation in it. Surprised a window didn't get blown out and the camera sucked into it.

+fmbeckham5 Not a microburst... The degree of wind change is more consistent with inflow and RFD...
Thanks for Sharing. I recorded it going through my back yard as well, except that it knocked down my fence and 2 trees. Unfortunately, the file was corrupt when I saved it and I lost the video..

Looking at the way the debris is moving around, it looks like the "funnel" was on the opposite side of what the camera was shooting, and this was the edges. Still, really really happy you got through it safe!!!
MAJOR RFD, rear flank downdrafts, 70 to 80 MPHs, not the main funnel... Don't get me wrong but itt went north of your house, THANK GOD, or your yard would have looked alot different... nothing there!

@titleistgolf723 I'm pretty sure that WAS the tornado in our backyard. It was at least the edges of it. Came right thru the neighborhood.

Same system brought an f2 twister to Bel Air, MD my home town. Just missed my home by a mere 100 feet. Just close enough for property damage. But not enough to take away or do damage to the home itself.
STILL!! Why aren't these people jumping for joy instead of whining about the birdhouse n other scrap in the back yard?!!

@coolnick52 In the 1:37 to 1:47 time frame, the large trees in the front row appear to be swaying in a 90 mph bi-directional gale.

I didnt see the funnel, but I did see flying debris, so probably a tornado.

There was A Tornado. Wilson all the way to Holly Springs. I know because I was so close to it. We were on our way to Aviator. xD
