Just tried the latest copy of this and I can't understand your enthusiasm. It is STILL on Distro Watch's radar but not yet approved? I made the .iso DVD, loaded it and couldn't understand if it was just loading or actually installing it to disk. Could NOT find any way to exit it short of jabbing my PCs RESET button. Any digging around required a login and password, though NOWHERE in the boot up process was a clue given HOW to create a login OR password. It had them preset, apparently, but did not want to share. Thankfully, once I removed the DVD, that particular drive which I use for this sort of experimenting defaulted to the previously installed Debian 12.1. All in all, a pretty but clunky interface. Thanks, but I'll pass.
Currently as of 5 mins ago (thank you for heads up) running a live version on a 2013 Mac Air and it DOES look and feel great. I for one am glad about Chrome being installed, and I would be happy to see Edge there as well. Will probably have a copy alongside Win11 on my desktop PC. I think it was well worth making the $31 AU donation as I did. Modicia may well supplant Win11 as my daily driver.
You lost me at Microsoft One Drive. I refuse to have ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING by Microsoft as well as any distro that includes anything by Microsoft, I don't care if I can remove it -- and I do know how, but that's beside the point.
Looks very bloated to me, I guess it depends on your edition choice but to me it tries too hard to be all things to all people and we've seen a great many distros fail because of that. Plus I dislike 2 panel GUIs, they waste a lot of screen real-estate when a simple task bar will do perfectly. It looks nice but in practice just as clumsy as OS X that it mimics.
@@eBuzzCentral I 100% agree. I am a huge fan of the gui Mate, that's not for everyone I would love to see something like this with like a minimal distro. Don't get me wrong I love Mint, in fact I prefer it over plain Debian but this distro just has a polish that's impressive. I love the wallpaper pack too. I just know how well these dual panel GUIs get in the way of productivity.
@@JM-tj5qm I don't get your logic but your allowed your own opinion. I am just stating mine. Anything beyond a simple task bar/start menu is in my opinion a waste of precious space. Think back with gnome 2.x.. that had at it's default two bars but you could delete the bottom bar and include the functionality in to the top bar, thus saving a little bit of space. But you can't do that here. Your pretty well stuck with an unnecessarily inefficient two panel paradigm. That's my opinion based on facts. Just because it's used in schools doesn't mean anything. In fact it probably means the school isn't focused on efficiency nearly as much as they should because most of them are probably stuck with low resolution bum screens making that two panel gui even more inefficient. I just like GUIs that stay out of the way and I would think most people would. To me, it's highly illogical and I can't get a good work flow out of them. I sympathize with people who love tiling managers by the way, it's not for me but in the right configuration it makes even a one panel approach inefficient. That GUI is beautiful though. I just think as I said before it's inefficient and pointed our why. Works for you, that's great man and it's not the worst features that a GUI could have. It just isn't for me.
I really wish that I can migrate my Thinkpad to this kind of Distro, sadly I'm stuck with Windows because my job requires me to use Microsoft Office, and seeing that mine comes with Nvidia Optimus (Intel GMA+Nvidia Quadro NVS 5400M) it was too painful to try to make it work.
@@eBuzzCentral I know, but mine is an old Optimus model that Nvidia doesn't support anymore. A quick internet search told me I have to use Bumblebee for it to work. It's too much down time for me to consider
You dont need MS Office.... You are aware MS Word is just a digital Typewriter...there are OTHER Digital TypeWriters: Apples Pages, LibreOffice, WPS Office, SoftMaker Office, Only Office. Word is just the most famous one. all these others can save in MS Word Format. WPS Office for Linux is free and the Most MSOffice, Excel and PowerPoint Compatible out of all the others. Try them!
What about Zorin? I understand that Zorin is a beautiful OS, but at the same time there is a Free and Paid version. I don't mind developers charging for their work, they have every right. But why pay for something when you have an OS just as polished and user friendly and it is completely free. They do charge a "support" fee if you want to deploy it on several business machines, but it is an option no a standard fee for the distribution.
It is the typical User friendly distro filled with things I won't use tbh Didn't like how it looks especially that it uses xfce and only a few distros using xfce got me to like them
Im looking for a Linux distro that can run Android apps without putting codes or command prompt. One that I can install android apps just like that and run.

Ciao! (pronounced chow): a greeting in Italian. Modicia is pronounced mo dee' cha with emphasis on the second syllable. Put on your best Italian accent and use your hands when you say it. It will come out fine.😁
I so want to try this OS, but there is like ZERO community support for it. Modicia is not even listed on DistroWatch. If you search for Modicia you get about 8 results. I hope Modicia takes off, but for now I will stick with Mint.
Takes off? MODICIA O.S. is currently installed in over 12 schools and institutes, in total over 1,700 students use it every day. And it is based on LTS Ubuntu, what else do you need? Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu...
Everybody have different taste when it come to UI design, for me I put this distribution in the same category as garuda or endeavour os .... is bloated the choices of themes and icons is debatable as best. Frankly nothing impressive. Sleek and snappy distributions like SolusOS with Budgie are much more attractive for me.
Was interested; however via the "Downloads" link I was held to ransom by being told to make a donation before any download links were revealed. No thanks, I need to check it out before making any "donation". Next thing I tried was pressing the "Community" button which led me to a link to a Mediafire website, which insisted on putting up a very large "Cookies" dialogue box and absolutely would not allow me to decline the "legitimate interests" sliders on the menu. So unless I agree to all Mediafire cookies I cannot download the .iso file at all. Stop press, I did manage to get the distro downloaded by using a vpn to spoof that I was in Canada rather than UK. I only had a few minutes but quite liked what I saw but was stunned to find no terminal emulator. Easily solved, loaded Terminator from the included Synaptic Package Manager. Will spend more time when I can to have a deeper insight. Regards.
Lovely looking distro, shame the developers don't offer a more reduced version. I found at least 49 apps/programs I would never use and thought as an experiment I would try deleting these to see what effect if any this had.
Seems they are asking for $19 per month for the full version. That gets more expensive than windows pretty quick. But I will try the free. Ubuntu user as of now.
That's only if you use it for Enterprise for like schools and things like that. The addition I reviewed is totally free. www.mediafire.com/file/5z81bngnyvuqpe8/MODICIAultimate22.4.iso/file

FAST too--
Looks like I've found the next OS to try out on one of my Frankenstein desktops. This has Chrome as default browser, for Windows users with chrome, to browse the Modicia website you might want to use Edge or Firefox or another browser, ironically, because the Windows chrome browser might have a few issues with the site (even when I disabled all plugins, it just didn't want to work properly... but Edge and Firefox gave me no issues at all with the site).
It could be the right choice for some people, but I'm confused why people are saying there's anything new here. Looks like a dated macos-themed xfce desktop on top of a bloated distro with redundant and proprietary tools.
Looks nice, but; Does not automatically partition effectively, has keyring login issues, and sound problems... Easy fixes not found. OH, it also can take a long time loading up, and often hangs on shutdown or restart after initial installation. A beginner will dislike this Operating System because of these problematic issues.
It's basically FOSS OSX for a PC... which means I will probably end up putting on a PC for a tech savvy aunt of mine who loves GIMP and is a fellow shutter bug, unless I sell said PC to a local college kid first...
I had to keep reminding myself that the desktop is XFCE. That's got to be the best configuration of XFCE I have seen.

What's your computer specs, im running Mint as a daily driver on a Lenovo V310, i3 6th gen, 12 GB ram and HD 510 video card.
I was running in a virtualbox with 4GB Ram and 2 CPU's.... It is very snappy!!! Thanks for the comment and for watching the video.
@@eBuzzCentral let's start distro hop again 😂
@@eBuzzCentral Hey eBuzz, I was asking about how would Titan run on an older pc with 4gigs of ram and 2 cpu cores? Is there an xfce build?
I was running on 4 gigs and two cores
Have you tried Endeavour ?
Yes I have and I have reviewed it as well
Wow I actually love they did all of this. Going to try it out and perhaps it can become my daily driver.
Check back and let me know how it goes
I am going to try this OS. Looks much better than Windows 11...
It is
My 2nd best distro of the year after Garuda. 3rd is Titan.
👍
Is the SNAPSHOT of your system a file by file backup, or a COMPLETE IMAGE?
Currently as of 5 mins ago (thank you for heads up) running a live version on a 2013 Mac Air and it DOES look and feel great. I for one am glad about Chrome being installed, and I would be happy to see Edge there as well. Will probably have a copy alongside Win11 on my desktop PC. I think it was well worth making the $31 AU donation as I did. Modicia may well supplant Win11 as my daily driver.
👍
Further to Mac Air I did a dual boot install and Modicia has not disappointed. Most impressive distro I have ever tried. A keeper for sure.
How about battery usage? Does it consume more battery as Linux Mint does. Linux mint consumes more battery as crazy.
Onlyoffice may have better compatibility with docx/etc... But LibreOffice is more feature rich and actually integrates with the system (theme)
The new release of only office in mid May, greatly expands the feature set and automatically integrates to your theme of your operating system.
@@eBuzzCentral I will be waiting for that release
The Euro exchange rate to the dollar is 1 : 1.05 so the equal amount in USD is 24.99
👍
That's the beauty of linux, there's something for everybody, what you don't like somebody else will
@@eBuzzCentral I 100% agree.
Nice distro!
👍👍👌
I really wish that I can migrate my Thinkpad to this kind of Distro, sadly I'm stuck with Windows because my job requires me to use Microsoft Office, and seeing that mine comes with Nvidia Optimus (Intel GMA+Nvidia Quadro NVS 5400M) it was too painful to try to make it work.
I have intel/Nvidia with no issues, plus MS office you can use online.
Try them!
Thanks....Linux Mint is stil my go to operating system...Deepin is next...
Thanks for sharing
I thought you were enamored by - Garuda Linux.
So which is it - Garuda, or the one you are reviewing here?
I test drove FerenOS, and i was underwhelmed. Let me give this a try.
Check back in let me know how it goes
@@eBuzzCentral I find it extremely polished and professional. I may wind up installing it as a sole OS on a machine.
I can't believe that's XFCE. Incredible. Italy makes some good stuff. Isn't ParrotOS from there also?
Not sure
Can you run this distro as a live usb?
Yes
Very nice review and intro do a new distro! Going to have to mess with this!
Keep me updated
Downloaded it already.. Although I'm checking out Leah OS as well..let you know 👍
I meant Leaf OS lol
Keep me updated
What about Zorin os?
What about Zorin? I understand that Zorin is a beautiful OS, but at the same time there is a Free and Paid version. I don't mind developers charging for their work, they have every right. But why pay for something when you have an OS just as polished and user friendly and it is completely free. They do charge a "support" fee if you want to deploy it on several business machines, but it is an option no a standard fee for the distribution.
It is the typical User friendly distro filled with things I won't use tbh
Didn't like how it looks especially that it uses xfce and only a few distros using xfce got me to like them
I don't say it's bad , just not my type
I'm a more of someone who like customization and I would like just DE and a browser distro
Thank you for your opinion and for watching the video
Im looking for a Linux distro that can run Android apps without putting codes or command prompt. One that I can install android apps just like that and run.
"I want a Linux distro that runs like windows" just stick to windows
Is there a a download link without having to donate ?
You don't have to donate just click download.
Been around since 1998 !! But in 98 they was something different. Ubuntu did not release 1st distro until 2004 !!
👍
No, that white bar on the top of the window and white tiny frame around after changing the theme to dark does NOT look good.
Yeah, I think I'll pass on this one.
Nice concept, but no luck even getting DNS to work out of the box. Also the keychane is totally mess-up from the install. My try again when things are fixed.
I didn't have a problem with either one
Man I have fedora setup perfect but this gives me the itch. Dam you !
Download link not working
Just started downloading it again.
www.mediafire.com/file/5z81bngnyvuqpe8/MODICIAultimate22.4.iso/file
the website does not work properly, you cannot scroll, and therefore cannot reach the download button.
If the website doesn't work well I don't want the distro at all
Just verified it on my pc, the website works perfectly.
you got it fixed up pretty good problem is it's trying hard to look like Mac! I really like the the stacer thing though some thing like that would be useful in all OS's
I didn't fix up anything, that's the way it comes out of the box.
Only office is great
Yes it is
Ciao! (pronounced chow): a greeting in Italian. Modicia is pronounced mo dee' cha with emphasis on the second syllable. Put on your best Italian accent and use your hands when you say it. It will come out fine.😁
Thank you my friend
I so want to try this OS, but there is like ZERO community support for it. Modicia is not even listed on DistroWatch. If you search for Modicia you get about 8 results.
I hope Modicia takes off, but for now I will stick with Mint.
Takes off? MODICIA O.S. is currently installed in over 12 schools and institutes, in total over 1,700 students use it every day. And it is based on LTS Ubuntu, what else do you need? Linux Mint is based on Ubuntu...
Linux is for getting things done - Windows is for playing games...IOS apple is for designers, film makers and musicians.
I do quite a bit of media on my machines with Linux
0:17 i felt happy when i saw the Egyptian flag there
Everybody have different taste when it come to UI design, for me I put this distribution in the same category as garuda or endeavour os .... is bloated the choices of themes and icons is debatable as best. Frankly nothing impressive. Sleek and snappy distributions like SolusOS with Budgie are much more attractive for me.
That's the beauty of Linux theres something for everybody
yes sir, i do prefer a very solid, stable and very conservative linux but what troy said is true (that is the beauty of linux).
Regards.
You weren't being held hostage, go down to the button to actually download the OS. I had no problem didn't pay a dime.
@@eBuzzCentral as I said later on in the comment.
Sorry, I was trying to read it on my phone and I didn't have my glasses, I apologize
@@eBuzzCentral no need. Honest mistake. Keep up the good work!

I always wanted NETRUNNER- cause it has everything I need CONFIGURED in it already-- like it was MADE for me-- and i couldn't use it because Firefox always caused Telegram to open up inside it-- SO _ installed the program- then REMOVED Firefox FIRST- before doing anything- and it worked-- now I have Libre wolf and Brave- and everything else the same-- LOVE IT- it's quick- does exactly what I want- and is GORGEOUS... FAST too--

The problem with most Ubuntu based Distros is that they don't work on new hardware.
Didn't have a problem with it running on a Asus Zenbook
@@eBuzzCentral How did you manage to make it work? I have heard that Ubuntu and Linux Mint don't work on new hardware.
I didn't have to do anything I dropped it on a usb, booted up on the USB and it just worked
@@eBuzzCentral Well okay then
Have you ever tried Ubuntu/Mint on new hardware? Repeating what you've heard without ever trying it for yourself is ignorant.
Thank you for sharing that info
The site works fine with Linux Chrome.
It could be the right choice for some people, but I'm confused why people are saying there's anything new here. Looks like a dated macos-themed xfce desktop on top of a bloated distro with redundant and proprietary tools.
It's Italian -- I'm sure pronunciation is M-oh-de-ch-ee-ah. (just like my Ruscetta name is pronounced with Roo-sch-e-t-uh)
👍
I actually quite like this one. XFCE on Steroids.
As an italian i can confirm it should be pronounced "Modicha"
Hi mate, it’s pronounced MO-DI-CHA. Stress the second syllable and the O is a short vowel, the A is pronounced ah. Enjoy!
Looks nice, but; Does not automatically partition effectively, has keyring login issues, and sound problems... Easy fixes not found. OH, it also can take a long time loading up, and often hangs on shutdown or restart after initial installation. A beginner will dislike this Operating System because of these problematic issues.
Looks good, but not free. When I go to their site they want 19Euros for each version.
No they don't, you can download it for free, right from the mediafire site.
No menu? I hate having to find an app by typing.
There is a menu when I covered it in the video, all you have to do is go to expose.
You can add application menu by customizing the panel
It's basically FOSS OSX for a PC... which means I will probably end up putting on a PC for a tech savvy aunt of mine who loves GIMP and is a fellow shutter bug, unless I sell said PC to a local college kid first...
My uni uses Slackware from 2008
Thank you for the comment and for watching the video.
nice if you like bloat, too many things installed for generic, this is why I use gentoo, you get what you want and how you need it.
