Wow, is it ever dry there. Our area in Istria is terrible, too. But at least we live in constant shade of the forest. We cannot see any houses from ours...so many trees. Much of Istria is beautifully green but patches like ours are crisp. Hunters are warned to check where all ammunition goes to prevent sparks. We are to leave water out for wildlife. That tree which planted itself looks like an acacia...they're prolific and grow like weeds. I can't ID it 100% without seeing greater detail. In Canada I was a master gardener but have so much to learn here. Thank you for your tour! Great news about your water. Approximately how many houses in your village?

Have you taught about solar panels and heat pump? It will also solve cooling of the house. I think government gives subvention for this. About internet, they are working to connect all rural parts with fiber optic till 2028, idk if they manage to accomplish this.
Yeah but its an expensive investment when electricity is quite cheap here. Regarding internet my starlink is good for now but if optic comes that would be awesome.
If I heard correctly you mentioned planting Oleander plants? Just in case you’re not aware, they’re poisonous. I know you won’t eat them or anything, but children and pets might. I’ve seen them planted on the Croatian coast and at resorts.

If you have more room for trees I would recommend a fig tree!
My dad had one and he said it attracted lots of insects so he hacked it down, but he said its unkillable because it keeps growing back XD
