Thanks Matt, brilliant. I have a Nutri bullet so i guess that will work ok. You take care too. Much love from south africa
You are very welcome, Val! The NutriBullet should work okay. :) Take care and thank you!!
I've been looking for a low fiber flour since I got diagnosed with colitus so really happy to find out how simple this is. Thank you!
You are welcome!
I will make this in my coffee grinder. Thanks
Welcome!
Hello Mr Taylor, my first time to your channel. I was looking for a way to make my own flour! Changing over to gluten free food! 😊
I did think about buying this before I bought my health master. It's supposed to be compatible with a vita mixer! 👍🏻 So I'll give this a try! Appreciate your video!!! 🤩
Awesome! Have fun with your new blender and making your own flour!
Now that's a machine! Thanks for sharing.
You are very welcome!!
Thanks man that’s awesome 😎 👌👍🤙😎🔥

Thank you for this quick and informative video. Most rice recipes suggest for washing he rice until the water runs clear to get rid of a lot the starch and arsenic too. Do you think it is possible to wash the rice, let it dry and then try it in a high speed blender?
You are very welcome! It depends actually on the rice. I use enriched rice which isn't prerinsed. But yes you can rinse the rice and dry it completely before grinding it into the flour.
I appreciate your response@@inthekitchenwithmatt
You are very welcome!@@Sarah-yo1dd
Great video!Would this work with an instant rice like minute rice?
Thank you!! Yes I don't see why not. :)
I’m going to try this with my coffee grinder!
Good luck! Let me know how it goes.
Did you do it? If so did it work?
It did work but it took a while of off and on because I don’t like to let my grinder get that hot and geez it was a mess. I ended up purchasing some at Walmart.
@@rebekahtodd3293 thanks for your honesty. I was headed for my grinder ! lol
Fab!
Thanks so much!
does this dull the blender blades? rice flour is unavailable near me now for some reason. I will try this! thanks
Yes it can with repeated use, but if you only do it once in awhile it will be fine. But it depends on the blender. If it is a quality blender like the Vitamix then you don't have to worry about it as much because they are made for all kinds of purposes including this. With that said if you really want to make homemade flours from grains the best thing to purchase is a specific grain mill.
Thanks for sharing! I think rice flour is the missing ingredient to make my zucchini fries.
You are very welcome! :)
Did you do anything to the rice before putting it into the VitaMix blender or is it straight out of the rice package?
I used enriched rice so it is straight from the package. If you don't use enriched rice you probably should rinse it well then let it dry completely before grinding it.
Makes great hot cream of rice cereal, too.
Nice!
@@inthekitchenwithmatt (I grind it less fine than flour so there's a little texture like Cream of Rice in a box.)
Nice!@@jvallas
Thankyou sir 😊
Welcome!
Me: IM READY
My blender : IM NOT READY 🫣😰
Darn!
Vitamix team 🎉
Yes!!
thanks for this. I would wash it first. Do I assume you did that and let it dry for a while?
You are welcome! No, not for this rice, it is "enriched rice" which doesn't get rinsed first. But you could rinse your rice first but it needs to dry completely before you grind it.
Does it have to be stored in a specific way? And can it be added to recipes the same way as regular flour?
Store it in something like a mason jar in the pantry. It can be used in recipes that call for rice flour. It can't be substitute for regular flour.
What I really want to know is how to turn flour back into rice. You all heard about those plastic fake rice. Well, those are fake. But the underlying idea itself isn't bad. Plastic pellets costs about 300% - 500% that of regular rice flour. So why don't we just make the "fake rice" out of rice flour instead of plastic. It would be cheaper. If we can somehow compress the rice flour back into grains that can survive cooking, we will end up with rice grains that are of uniform size, that is as small/large/long/short/round or whatever shape we want.
haha interesting idea
And i want to learn how to turn steak back into a cow
@@cheese-weeb dark man😂
I just got into sourdough. Can I do this to line my basket for proofing, instead of buying the pre ground rice flour? It’s soooo much more expensive than getting the regular rice.
Absolutely! I do it all the time with my sourdough in fact I haven't bought rice flour in a long time haha.
I want to make rice flour. What s pecific type of rice should I get? Or any rice would do?
You can make it with pretty much any rice. I always use plain long grain white rice.
Amazing
no need water to soften the rice.
No you don't want to soften the rice, that will mess it up.
Can we use this flour in skin care remedies?
I don't know anything about skin care remedies. But if you need rice flour for it then yes. This is rice flour in its purest form without any extra additives.
Curious, but I learned that the rice should be washed, let dry and then grind.
It definitely depends on the rice and where it is made and comes from. This rice is "enriched" rice so it isn't rinsed beforehand because that defeats the purpose of being enriched.
Hiii. Erm are we supposed to wash the rice before blending?
It entirely depends on your rice. I use enriched rice, which is not rinsed because that defeats the purpose of having enriched rice.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt thanks

Can you blend it with a low speed blender
My blenders highest one is 4
you will just have to try it. I am not sure how well it will work in a low speed blender.
Hello Matt! Thank you for the video. Could you explain the difference in the baking whike using that process of making rice flour and the one where is soaked, let it in the dry and then blend?
There is no difference, except in this video, I used enriched rice which you don't rinse first, I should have explained that in the video haha. If you are not using enriched rice it is a good idea to rinse (not soak) the rice several times until the water runs clear. Then lay it out flat on a very clean sheet pan or cookie sheet to dry. Then blend. Great question!
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Thank you for the answer. I will do a sponga cake without baking soda, baking powder and gluten free
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Any tip more than welcome 🤗

Can I use long grain rice
Yes!
Hello, I want to mako mochi at home, can i use that kind of flour I make at home or no?
Hi there, no I don't think so, I think you need a specific rice flour called "glutinous rice four" or (mochigome) instead of using regular rice flour which is what this is.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt ok thank you so much
Welcome!@@ahmedceman5015
The only question I have is, do you wash the rice before you blend it?
If it isn't enriched rice, I recommend rinsing the rice, then you have to let it completely dry first, and I mean it has to be super dry, before blending it.
Can you do this with brown rice?
Yes I don't see why not.
Can we freeze rice flour
Yep!!
Name of your or make blender,thanks..
Hi it is a Vitamix E310 and can be found here: www.jdoqocy.com/click-100808229-13556917 or here amzn.to/3CYQvu3
What kind of rice are you using?
That is normal enriched long grain rice. But it will work with pretty much any rice.
It multiplied in volume 😮
Can you do it with boiled rice?
It has to be dried out completely and it may work.
Can using a food processor work?
Yes a good food processor will do the job. Coffee grinders will work too for small amounts.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt
thank you!
@@roseantuna5441 You are welcome!
What kind of rice do you use? There’s so many different rices out there. Jasmine, basmati, long grain, what about just plain greater value Walmart white rice?
Just plain Mahatma Brand long grain rice from Kroger. Great Value Walmart white rice will work great.
Thx for recommending a blender to make good quality rice flour ^^
Welcome!
Dose food processor work?
You can certainly try it. If it is powerful enough it should work. Just try a smaller amount first.
Do u need to wash the rice first?
It depends on the rice you use. The rice I use is enriched rice which isn't rinsed first. Otherwise you will rinse your rice, BUT you must allow it to dry before making rice flour with it. Lay it out on a sheet pan or cookie sheet and let it completely dry BEFORE blending it to make rice flour.
Do I need to wash it before?
If it is enriched rice, no need to rinse it first. If not, then it is a good idea to rinse it. But then it needs to be dried before grinding into flour.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt Thank you 🙏🏼
@@davmon4434 Welcome!
Do you wash rice first?
It depends on the rice. The rice I use is enriched rice, in that case you don't rinse it first. Other than that rinse and dry your rice first. Good question!
Is it no need to wash the rice?
It depends on the rice. This is enriched rice so you don't rinse it first.
Can i do tokpoki with this
If the recipe calls for rice flour yes you can use this.
Don't you wash the rice before grinding?
It doesn't grind well once the rice is washed even after the rice is dried.
Good question! It depends entirely on the rice that you buy. I usually buy enriched rice, and you don't rinse it. If you are going to wash it, only give it a quick rinse, not soaking, and completely drain it, then lay it out flat in a single layer on a sheet pan to dry completely before grinding.
😊😊😊🥰🥰🥰
Thanks!
@@inthekitchenwithmatt 🥰🥰
What is the difference with Rice flour and rice powder
Not much difference, one is more fine than the other, that is pretty much it.
@@inthekitchenwithmatt thank you
Welcome!@@user-eu6vs2rz7e
I can’t make rice cakes with it right
If your rice cake recipe calls for rice flour then yes you can make it with this. It all depends on what your recipe calls for.
I use a coffee grinder to make the flour and it will make it very fine the longer it runs. We don't grind coffee with it, just rice.
Great!
Is the rice cooked
Hello, no the rice is not cooked and it shouldn't be cooked. Rice flour is made from normal dry uncooked rice. :)
Thank you
