- Hello TH-cam Friends!
In March 2024, I was the guest lecturer on the most beautiful Cruise ship, sailing up the Norwegian Fjords. The project I devised was English Paper Pieced. We stitched on it as we sailed north and enjoyed the fabulous scenery and the wonderful experience of the Havila Capella. If you are planning a similar journey, I can't recommend this Cruise company more highly.
This video is a compilation of all the things I did whilst on board, including a visit the Bridge, the Engine Rooms and the Kitchen!
You can find the Tempestry Project that Jamie explained here. I am waiting for my kit to arrive and then I will start on this most interesting project. www.tempestryproject.com

Kate, not only is this a visually lovely film, it is also inspirational. And how lovely to see Arne and Carlos on your channel again. I've been stuck in the house for almost two years now and the combination of your crafting and gardening is keeping me going. Thanks love.
I am sorry to hear you are suffering. Giving you a hug on the lime green sofa.
And another hug from Florida
And another hug from Australia 💖
Oh how sweet of you all. Thank you very much. I'm absolutely fine just a little limited.
I am from Canada . I was laid down with a sore knee and ankle and really enjoyed all of Kate’s videos, what a lifesaver ur Kate! Hug to u suffering thru 2 years in the house.
You can dream your whole life of going to beautiful places that you have heard of, but know you will never be able to visit yourself. Thank you for showing us this spectacular space in the world and letting us enjoy them with you.
So so agree, we will never get to see them all ,so I love this snooping
Wow, wow, wow, Kate don't worry about the video being long, trust me we love it.❤
Ha Ha That is what I kept saying Wow, Wow, Wow. Fantastic video I agree.
Wow wow from me too. A long video was lovely ❤❤❤
Agree - wow, wow, wow. What an absolute heaven of a vacation! I could have watched hours of this. Beautiful crafting, gorgeous scenery, meaningful climate change project, port stops, amazing ship and perfect temperature. I don't know what else to say but WOW 😍
Oh, and the food looked fabulous!
What a beautiful world GOD has made!! Thank you Kate for showing it to us.
"Wonder if I could get them to change all the upholstery?"
Kate you make me laugh out loud.
What a joy this video was. 🌼
Definitely! The lovely boat could use some touch of The Last Homely House 😊
What a beautiful video of full of crafting joy, stories told and sews (or knitted), and the gift of friendship. Thank you for such an extraordinary journey. I feel completely transformed by its gentleness and beauty, and above all, inspired!
What a fun trip “we” had! I am so thankful that you shared your lovely trip with all of us Kate. Thanks for taking us along with you! ❤
You've made me cry - AGAIN. I am so happy that you decided to start a you tube channel - the best ever you tube channel. Kate you are such a beautiful person.
Going on a cruise has never appealed to me - in fact I dislike the thought of it........ but the way this ship is run, the beautiful landscapes and towns and all the sewing/knitting - it has even tempted me. Thank you for another enlightening and gorgeous video.
Same for me❤
I do so agree with you! I have been on 2 cruises, 1 to the Caribbean to be with dear friends (it was torture!) and the other to Alaska which was slow-paced and beautiful much like this one. Kate is blessed with the friendship of Arne and Carlos and their invitation for this slow sail on a smaller, more intimate ship. And we are blessed to have her share with us!
I also stared to cry and realized it was joy of being with Kate and all of you.
WOW! What SPECTACULAR, BREATHTAKING scenery!!!!! Oh, thank you Kate for sharing this amazing video! What a wonderful trip and I am sure you brought joy to all of the participants! Glad you had this opportunity and that you shared it with your friends on the LGS💕💕♥️♥️🥰🥰
Wow!! Thank you dear Kate! What an amazingly beautiful program! ❤
Kate, I’m sure there is not a one of us subscribers who would not have been delighted to keep you company with a cup of hot coffee or tea in front of that faux fireplace🤗 What a fantastic time you must have had. Thank you for sharing it with us. You looked lovely with your delicate gold chain-so nice to see you wearing what must be a special piece of jewelry. Of course, it made me smile to see you wearing your beautiful green sweater! That’s “our” Kate! I hope you will do this or a similar cruise again-it would be an absolute thrill to join you! So glad you got to see the Northern Lights!!
You are such a lovely person, who wouldn’t love to have you as a friend. ❤
All I can say is "WOW" .......thanks for taking us along....
Kate and Anna the cinematography and editing was beautifully done. And the musical choice was the icing on the cake. I really love the music that accompanies your videos. Thank you for bringing us along on your adventure. What a treat!
I agree. Kate what is the name of the music? Artist?
I don't usually comment but feel like l have to. What a wonderful experience to be surrounded by new and old friends, wonderful creativity and spectacular scenery.
Thank you Kate.
Kate, I so enjoyed seeing such lovely parts of your trip! I love that you added the Aurora Borealis at the end. Having lived in Southern Illinois the first 57 years of my life and the last 5 years in Western Kentucky (USA). I thought I’d never see them except in photos or video. However, miraculously the Northern Lights came to me! Yes, here in Western Kentucky! May 10th of 2024 the Aurora Borealis somehow made its way to the middle of the United States! It was a once in a lifetime experience right outside my front door! Ours was all pink, purple and blue. No greens were seen from what I’ve heard. It was a wonderful experience, one I’ll never forget! It’s so lovely that you have the opportunity to travel and meet so many new and interesting people from all over the world. I love getting a small peek into your life and world over there across the pond. I would love to travel to England someday to see the things you see every day! I think we all think that about other folks and their lives. God bless you and all you do! Sharon Mausey. Paducah Kentucky (yes, where the largest quilt show is every year for a little over 40 years now) It’s usually the week of my birthday in April. 🥰😍
Thank you so much for this love letter to my country ❤ So proud and so happy you are here to enjoying. Next time, I look forward to welcome you to Oslo ❤
Loved this video about your journey! I am very appreciative to Arnie and Carlos for inviting you along! I feel like I learned so much from watching! I especially loved learning about the tempestry project from Jamie! Thank you, Kate for sharing it all with us! 🙂
The tempestry idea is fascinating, love to try it. Well done Jamie and for the great idea. Thank you Kate, you're a wonderful person ❤
Feeling as though I've had an exotic holiday - thank you, Kate. What a terrific time all of you had, terribly civilized yet within the raw truth of this earth.
I love what Jane is doing! I am doing a temperature embroidery. One row for each day using different stitches. I have picked my colours based on the temperature changes to the foliage here on Vancouver Island in Canada. I add small accents in the rows where family birthdays, anniversaries and such fall.
Fantastic video and I loved your music choices to go along with it, thank you
And THANK YOU... This is my dream trip. Even thou i live in Sweden next door to Norway the trip is to expensiv fore my economy, Some day maybe..... I am so happy fore all of you and i hope you hade a lovely time at this once in a liftime trip.
Kate, I just watched one of your old videos (4rys old). I enjoy all of your videos, especially chatty ones! Well, on this one I watched you asked us to recommend other utube channels. I do watch a few you already know. I would recommend THE FABRIC PATCH. (Love this ) They are a mother (Cindy) and daughter (Breanna) whom own and run a shop in Washington in the USA. They do box openings of fabric, on Wednesday and Sunday, with lots of chatting. They also do FABRIC CHAT on Wednesday mornings. They chat and chat and chat!!❤ I think you might enjoy them. They laugh so much. I have been fighting cancer for 7 years and channel's like yours and theirs, make my days better. Thanks for your videos Kate . One day maybe I might see all of them. I CHATTED LONG ENOUGH😊. STAY SAFE, AND I ALWAYS SAY,..."KEEP ON KEEPING ON " VICTORIA 💚💞🪡🧵
I have been looking for a new craft project to start that I haven't seen before. The Tempestey is not only a beautiful piece of art, it is an amazing way to link the past and present. I can't wait to start! Thank you for sharing this.
What a FUN cruise! The Tempestry project is amazing! Thank you for introducing that to us through Jamie!!
The Aurora on a ''Lime Green Sofa''! Lovely segment.
Aah the teacher in me appreciates the tempestry! I have seen people make temperature quilts but I love the comparison aspect! Awesome visual
Yes yes yes!!! That’s why I love them so much.
So beautiful and relaxing video. I loved seeing you and Arne and Carlos together again. I liked all the way folks did their
hexagon projects and the lady with the climate change knitting.
Pure delight.... I have always wanted to see Norway since I followed a Norwegian gardener years ago . I still remember the name for slug, snegl! Oh to visit Arne's thrift shops.... with a large suitcase!
It looks like a wonderful time! Great people, great food and great places to visit, who could ask for more?
I’ve never really wanted to go on a cruise, but I’m sure I’d love to go on this one! I hope you are able to offer it again, Kate. It really looks wonderful and I love the idea of people having a purposeful project do do whilst they enjoy the cruise.
Hello Kate. I am a new subscriber to your channel and I have been having a wonderful time watching your videos from latest ( trip to Norway …on my bucket list)….to oldest and in between !. I now live in Canada ( it’s been a very long 2 years …that was what I was told when we arrived here in 1982 !!!!). I was born in Ireland ,trained as a nurse and midwife. I had family living in Newcastle and Durham area for about a decade in mid sixties to mid seventies and was a frequent visitor to your part of the world…so beautiful. I have done many of the crafts you do and continue to so. Knitting / quilting are my favourites Embroidery and Rug hooking next. Have dabbled in pottery too. Our family are big fans of Lord of the Rings…. Trip to New Zealand in our travel plans in the near future. I love farm life and all furry creatures big and small . I loved gardening and had a lovely garden once upon a time. Sadly I had to give it up due to serious back problems. Now I enjoy watching others garden including yourself. I feel like I am there both in your home and garden as I have watched your videos. I also love to cook and bake. However I am currently “ off duty” from kitchen activities due to recurring back issues…. Another surgery looms in a week 🙄🙄. However I have plenty of your videos to catch up on and distract me in the coming weeks. Thank you so much for sharing your home; garden and furry friends with everyone on the lime green couch. Cheers, Marian
That's the danger of a cruise. You go on as a passenger, and come off as cargo because the food is so delicious. What a spectacular trip. Thank you for sharing with us.
A beautiful memory
Lovely! Lovely! Lovely!
Those blue colors, the projects, the adventure. That was lovely - all the way through!
What a wonderful video, and such an adventure! Norway is absolutely stunning. I had no idea. Loved seeing all the craft projects also. Thank you, Kate, Arne and Carlos for taking us along.
It was so wonderful meeting you, Arne & Carlos and sharing this wonderful time with you! Thank you!
What a wonderful video. The amount of Artistic people on the cruise is amazing and their own projects. Incredible idea about the Climate change knitted scarf for instance. How blessed were you to get to go down in the engine room and deck on the Ship and a tour off the Ship 👏👏
Thank you for taking your viewers along! I loved it.
The scenery was magnificent. My favorite is the Aurora Borealis. Just breathtaking! Thank you for taking us along.
Kate, this is beautiful. I watch Arne and Carlos. They are a beautiful couple. That cruise looked fabulous. The tempestry is fascinating. Very cool projects. The different color houses remind me of Jellybean Row in St. John's, Newfoundland. ❤
I love listening to you describe everything…. So lovely…. I feel like I’m sitting right there with you , thank you ❤
The aurora was marvelous!! How mesmerizing. At the front of the video, I wanted to say I loved the colors of yarn you chose for your project. The scenery was wonderful; I loved the many colored painted houses. I just loved the whole video, actually. What a great idea the tempestry was, literally decades at a glance of temperature change. I had read recently that some of the hieroglyphics are whole ideas, not words. I don't know, but the tempestry is a fine example of the visual expressing a whole thought, not just words. Thank you so much for sharing. I enjoy watching you being you. Does that make sense? smile
I love your thoughts about the image conveying a whole idea-yes, I’d agree, the Tempestries (in pairs for comparison over time) do indeed convey very powerfully the reality of gradual climate change, often not noticeable day to day or year to year. 🎉
I loved this video. I took that cruise with Arne and Carlos knitting group in May of 2022. I absolutely loved it also. I did a lot of traveling that year. After the cruise was over I flew from Bergen to London and spent 2 months in England. One of my sons lives in Higher Clovelly. I made a temperature blanket for that year. So it was interesting hearing about Tempestury. Instead of making mine one long piece, I decided to use the granny square motive. I made one round of granny square for each day. At the end of the year, I had 52 squares. I had to add 4 blank squares to make it 7 squares and 8 squares long. It makes a nice sized throw for the sofa. And it's a nice memory of 2022. 😊
Kate, I could have sat with you throughout the entire trip, not a moment to long. Wish I was a little bird on your shoulder taking in everything. Thank you for the video.
Kate, this was the most amazing video I've ever seen. I would so love to go on that same Boat. Thank you for taking us with you/
I absolutely love every single one of your videos. Your voice is so calming your scenery is so breathtaking your videos give me a piece that I have longed for. Thank you for all you do.
Thank you so much for taking us along on your wonderful trip! It was like being there with you! Beautiful scenery and great fun with new friends. Nothing like it in the world! The Northern Lights were spectacular. Thanks so much for sharing your adventure with us on TH-cam, Kate! ❤🥰😊
I did this one year for each of the grandkids. It was a fun project.
Amazing, stupendous, clap clap cap!!! Norway is the very last destination on my bucket list and maybe now I can save money and just enjoy it vicariously through you. (My husband has Norwegian ancestry.) You even saw the Northern Lights! Thanks, Kate, for this lovely video.
Thank you Kate, I agree that you are a special woman. Thankful to have found you on TH-cam last year. This was a calming way to end my day on the east coast of Canada. A Norway cruise I had the pleasure to enjoy through you. Absolutely stunning
Thanks, Kate for your lovely video. I was lucky to spend a few days in Norway some 20 years ago and loved it, so it is so good to see it again. Sheila (Perth, Western Australia)

I am terrified of ships ..boats..but you made me want to try to make my self board one and exsperience the great joy and adventure you went on , the people you met were so great and busy moving along with the sights as they passed and the projects before them .
It's a journey I'll never make in my life time ( 72 yrs on the 18th April this year ) , but I can watch the vlog of your trip every day if I desire , thank you Kate ..

Thank you so much for taking us on your wonderful adventure with your lovely friends. That is one cruise I would like to go on with my husband . Blessings from Hawkes Bay NZ❤
Wow! Such a great video journaling your fabulous trip. The scenery was breathtaking & I very much enjoyed your interviews with diff people & their projects including Arnie’s paper pieced tablecloth. I too, love talking to others & hearing their story. I am prone to getting vertigo so “boats” are off limits but crafts are very much allowed & I am currently making my 1st hexi paper pieced quilt thanks to the gorgeous hexi you made for Agnes. I especially enjoyed the tempestry project. I’m working on a temp quilt for this year in California. I love ev you do Kate & very much look forward to more adventures. You have so many followers & we all appreciate your videos from the lime green sofa. Ps Lime green & purple are my 2 fav colors. 😬
Beautiful landscape 😍 lovely to see you having such a wonderful time. I only wish I were physically able to travel. I live vicariously through you Miss Kate. I miss being around other quilters so please have a fabulous time. Thank you for sharing💕
What a wonderful video. In 2017 I visited Norway and fell in love. How wonderful to see the coast north. Thank you for sharing this fabulous journey..

What an opportunity to meet so many people in such amazing locations.
Hello - I just received your lovely Kate Fassett cushion kit and Quilt Planning Notebook. Thank you so much! I can’t even begin to tell you how lovely your products are! Thank you for
All you do for people who love to quilt and do hand stitching!
What a very special trip. Thanks for sharing. I lived in Fairbanks AK, USA for 30 years and your video brought back memories. I love the "lights". Thank you.
Am down with COVID am quarantined for a bit yet. This was a lovely trip and lift to the spirit! As always, a joy to watch and learn. ❤
Thank you Kate for the lovely video from our adventure!! I did enjoy putting all this together with ARNE & CARLOS and yourself, and of course with Aller travel, our travel agency 🙂Regards from Githa - tour leader
What a lovely video, absolutely fascinating and relaxing at the same time. I visited Norway on a cruise about 5 years ago and completely fell in love with it. I especially liked Bergen and Alesund and found both the scenery and houses entrancing. I must confess I haven't yet knitted up the wool I bought in Bergen - living in Cornwall I have more need of wet weather gear than warm mittens at the moment! I loved the idea of the Tempestry project - it was so interesting to see in visual and creative terms the effect of climate change. Thank you for bringing back lots of happy holiday memories ❤
Thank-you for sharing your wonderful cruise with us. I so enjoyed it. The tempestuous scarf is so interesting. I just might send for a couple of kits.
Thank you for sharing this lovely trip. I enjoyed it immensely.. ❤❤😻😸😸
Have I told you lately that I love you? You are living my dreams. ❤
Kate, thank you for sharing your trip with us. Fabulous! Pam Miller
How wonderful! I never imagined the beauty of the landscapes. Thank you Kate!
I have Norwegian to go with my Chiricahua Apache and Irish. I llive in the New Mexico mountains. That is fairy tale beautiful.
That looked like a lot of fun. Everything you showed us is beautiful. Plus, everyone looked like they were having fun. We don't have the big snow we used to have here. The flooding is getting worse. Tornadoes were something we didn't have to worry about happening here, when I was young. Now, Tornadoes can pop up here at any time of the year. All this changed in my 75 years of living.
I enjoyed your video so much! I’m Scandinavian, my mom was Norwegian and my dad was Swedish! It was awesome to see some of the landscape and beautiful water! The northern lights were fantastic!
thank you so so much for sharing many Moments on your lovely ship trip in Norway ❤️🤗😘
Thank you for taking me on your journey. So lovely 🥰
Dear Kate, Your photos and videos are exceptional! I was fortunate enough to have been on an Arne & Carlos knitting trip in Match 2023. This video brought back so many wonderful memories. Thank you!
Thank you so much for every bit of this! I kept pausing it to exclaim to my fella about one thing and another. The scenery made me weep with the beauty and magic of it. It brought to mind a trip my fella and I made in the summer of 2017 up the coast of Labrador. So lucky to experience the North! Thanks again for every precious tear.
Thank You so much for such an amazing video! So beautiful to see the ice and snow and the pretty little houses! Really enjoyed it! The beautliful ocean water at the end just like a painting. The Temestry project amazing! Plus you saw the Aurora how wonderful to share that with us. Thanks again TLC
Enjoy watching your trip up the Norwegian coast … it was like watching in black & white with a bit of colour and yes to the big yellow cup for tea! Thanks for sharing Kate 😊
Definitely want to do the Tempestry. I'm learning to knit but I can crochet.
Lovely trip I thoroughly enjoyed all the scenery , your craft adventures and the people you met. I also follow Arne and Carlos so it was great to see them to. What a wonderful opportunity for you to experience. Enjoy and stay well Kate xx

The temperature knitting, quilting etc has been quite popular the last few years.
Wow how gorgeous… I’ve been looking forward to this one from you …. How absolutely beautiful …. Thank you for sharing.. I loved all the little ants running on and off the boat 🛥️ … 😂
Kate you have outdone yourself! Having heard about these trips with Arne and Carlos and now having you share the cruise and the magnificent scenery and such calmness with the music you added. I follow both yourself and the boys and have done since covid. A big thankyou ❤
