I have been listening to testament since 86 I have heard a few songs already on this new album. My goodness this album is mind blowing super aggressive very powerful. Chuck sounds amazing like he did in the early (90s ). Thrash lives
Thank you for this review as always... I pre ordered my copy, but with all this I dont know when I will have it in my hands, keep safe and Greetings from Panamá!!!
What is really special about Testament is the fact that they never disappoint. All the great thrash metal bands ,Anthrax,Megadeth,Metallica,Overkill or Exodus -they not always deliver the best music. But Testament and Slayer -are metal MASTERS.Always.
1(Intro) Curse of Osiris 2 WWIII 3 Children of the next level ... Thats my order in muy cellphone Great album. Brotherhood... Dark root... Now this. Testament never disappoints (except demonic)
They have remained pretty consistent over the years. And this album has elements from all the records they produced over the years. I also heard some influences from Painkiller (Judas Priest) and British Steel (Judas Priest). And it worked
Listened thru 2 times now and its an Amazing Collection of Music. The Guitars are Crazy Good. This one will be on the Playlist for Years. Catacombs sounded familiar as they open there shows with it. For me I Love Testament over any of the "Big 4". I dislike categories in music though. Anyway the Album RIPS! Be Safe and Clean!
Curious to know how many times you listen to an album before providing a review? and would your review be different if you had to write this after only 1 listen? thanks:)
I listen to the albums multiple times, at least 3-4 times before recording the review. Listen to it once would be wrong approach, in order to provide a review that is accurate to what the album offers.
Thank you for sharing this bro Love me some TESTAMENT. My favorite thrash metal band. The drums and guitar work is outstanding. . Alex skolnick kills it Cant wait to get this album. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
He does with most albums 1.5-2 months before they are released. I would say most fans have listened to the album already. It came out 1.5 months early to download. The album is so mind-blowing I put it as Testaments 2nd best album. Track 9 The Healers is the least quality song the rest is insane. So many amazing tracks, City Of Angels, Dream Deceiver, Ishtars Gate, Code Of Hammurabi, WW III, False Prophet. Track 06. Ishtars Gate, sounds like it was released 30 years ago it is super old school sounding.
Hey dude, loved the video. Just a query, how did you get the chance to review the album? I'm a music reviewer and have heard nothing back from Nuclear Blast.
the album overall? loved it...but check the harmony part before Skolnik's solo....its the same in Exodu's - Forward march from the tempo of the damned album...same harmonic part before the solo...same ascending riff....that totaly killed my boner for the album cuz it just gave me Exodus dejavus...shame on you on that Testament :> i wonder if Gary ever noticed it xD
The main outliers of the big 4, sepultura and testament have put out game changing records this year after a weaker 2000 decade. meanwhile, the big 4 have retired or are putting out subpar albums (although dystopia was pretty good).
How does it compare to The Formation Of Damnation in terms of songwriting? That's the one and only album that I listened to to any great degree. The previous 2 albums didn't really grab me with the songwriting, and the first single I heard for this one felt similar. I wanna like them but they're just not quite there for me. On a side note, D.N.R. is something else, that song just destroys. For context, I wasn't really into old Testament(heh) either.
The Formation for me is their worst album. Aside from a few tracks, it's not very thrash metal, very mid tempo and lacking in energy. The last 2 stepped the game up, especially the last one, and brought back some more old Testament flavours (and since I see you're not really a proper Testament fan, not into their core sound, etc. it makes sense that you wouldn't like the last one). And the new one I believe continues where the last left off, just with a bit more dynamics. I feel that if you loved the lackluster Formation but not the thrashy Snake or old school Testament, then Titans may also not be an album for you. Hopefully. That's my prediction.
@@Aenigmakil I'd say that The Persecuted Won't Forget, Henchmen Ride, and The Formation of Damnation have heaps of energy, though the others not as much. You mention that it's not very thrash met...but I don't care, I just want great songs, and the songs were better overall. And D.N.R. blitzes any song I've heard from them on any album. If they made an album full of high energy songs that good that would be great.
The sound of this record is too modern, too walled and layered. Not a fan of it, it has been this way for the past 4 albums... Sometimes simplicity is enough, The album is overall excellent but I wished they laid off some guitar layers and effects and just settle for a more Raw tone like their first 5 albums.
I'll have to give this album a chance. I really, really, really disliked Brotherhood of the Snake. All the songs were too "same/same" for me, and I hate the modern production, especially the drums. From what I've heard the drums sound better on this, although they are still too "clicky" for me. I think I've just honestly gotten bored of thrash metal again. I loved it in the 80's, was bored of it in the 90's, got really back into it in the early 2000's and for the last 10 years I've been buying new albums from Death Angel, Testament, Exodus, etc. and not really enjoying them. I dislike that Testament and Death Angel seem to be embracing a lot of modern metal sounds that I really don't enjoy. Exodus last album was sub par, and the Nuclear Assault albums were just not that good. Slayer's Repentless wasn't good. The only good thrash albums I've heard lately came from Kreator, Sodom, and Anthrax....although Anthrax aren't as "thrash" as they used to be and that's okay because I enjoy traditional/speed metal more than thrash now.
@@APREACTS I was watching an interview with Chuck and he said he gave Eric more free reign in the writing. That before if Eric wrote something that wasn't heavy enough Chuck wouldn't allow it, but he was more open on this album. Which I think is great. When you have a mixture of the two it creates more dynamics, and more impact for the heavier stuff.
I’ll say it. Testament is THE most consistent thrash band.
Best thrash band of all time. All due respect to *JEFF, DAVE,* Kerry & Tom but Testament are the kings of thrash.
Agreed!
Agreed. they are far from my favorite thrash band, but they have put out solid albums for years in a row
Get well Chuck Billy!
Good review!
I have been listening to testament since 86 I have heard a few songs already on this new album. My goodness this album is mind blowing super aggressive very powerful. Chuck sounds amazing like he did in the early (90s ). Thrash lives
Amen to that.
TESTAMENT kills it on this album.
My favorite thrash metal band. Fuckin TESTAMENT.....
Looking forward to it. And i hope Chuck gets better soon
I'm sure he will. He's gotten through cancer, this virus will be nothing for a guy like him.

Testament has been on such high since Formation! They’ve been killer🤘🏻
Thank you for this review as always... I pre ordered my copy, but with all this I dont know when I will have it in my hands, keep safe and Greetings from Panamá!!!
Oh,I have been waiting for this one for so long...Testament is a thrash metal COLOSSUS
The first thing I said when I heard this album was "holy shit", heavy, groovy and utter kickass, an absolute killer of an album 🤘🤘
The songs I’ve heard from this are absolutely fantastic, looking forward to the whole album
I saw Death Testament and Death Angel in Boston in 1989 excellent time. Awesome thanks for the post much appreciated.
It’s one of them records the more you listen the better it gets I think something you forgot was the bass in this album it’s killer
Sorry you didn’t forget it I forgot you mentioned it 😂
Snake was the best for me since Low. I think this one'll be even better!
What a fantastic review!!! Thank you 🙏🏽
Cheers!!!
Great album and a great review. Touched on all the aspects a fan would really want! Ton of Cheers all the way from India! Looking forward...
TESTAMENT Must Be BIG4!!
Big 4 = 4 most popular thrash bands in their prime, so Testament would need to go back in time to the 80's and sell more than Anthrax.
What is really special about Testament is the fact that they never disappoint. All the great thrash metal bands ,Anthrax,Megadeth,Metallica,Overkill or Exodus -they not always deliver the best music. But Testament and Slayer -are metal MASTERS.Always.

Just killer
Hoglan... digiorgio.... petterson.... skolnik.... Billy.... nothing more to say
😉
It's definitely their best since the Gathering. Not sure it's better than Low, Souls or any of their 80s output.
I agree with this statement.
... a good album
So far I have listened only 3 singles. Mixed feelings...
What feelings? Elation or super elation?
better than brotherhood of the snake imo
Did they get a new guitarist? The solos in the album are soooo much better than brotherhood of the snake
Nope same people
pat ellsworth damn well he really stepped his game up I feel like everyone did the bass and drums sound better as well

It´s good, I have to admit; but far from great. Not better than the Gathering or Formation, but way better than the last two.
