Great video, but I have not heard about marriage being an institution of exclusively ‘the church’ before governmental recognition. The Bible discusses valid marriage covenants for non-Christians in the Epistles (1 Cor. 7:12). Are we expected to think these happened within the church but for nonbelievers? If not, I don’t see how a state performing secular marriages is considered wrong.
Jesus offended society enough that they crucified him, how could I betray him by softening the Gospel for fear of rejection? Both the catholic and protestant churches are guilty of this for fear of backlash.
“Marriage” by the state and Marriage under God is two totally different things….this applies to anyone, heterosexual or otherwise. Marry a chicken and get a licence from the state to give the chicken legal rights I don’t care. But don’t try and tell me God approves of the union just because a contract exists.
As a person of many decades of life experience (yeah, I’m old😉) I find much in this point of view that saddens me. Broken relationships-especially in one’s immediate family-are tragic. I would do all I could to maintain the connection with a loved one in this circumstance.
By skipping the wedding, aren't you maintaining the connection with the most important loved one, i.e. God, in not supporting what he doesn't call blessed or ordain in the first place?
@@stephenrichie4646 And by that you'd acknowledge a kind of marriage that the Bible doesn't affirm, otherwise there would be no reason for gifts. @@stephenrichie4646 And, as I see it, by not skipping the wedding, you focus more on maintaining the connection with your loved people than on maintaining and honoring the connection to God whom you should also love, if not even more. Hence my original question.

Can, Christian disobey the ten commandments and not call it sin? Once we have deviated from the word of God we are all guilty! Do you tell other not to steal but you steal...
Very easy question, no. Why are we so focused on the worlds standards, the salvation from Christ isn’t by what we do but by the hearts of the nonbeliever.
Scripture says to be friends of sinners, friends attend friend's weddings. In the world but not of it....salt that remains in a salt shaker is useless.
They don't attend when attendance implies affirmation of behavior. If you love your friend, you will lead them to Christ...not smile and applaud as they wallow in sin.
So when Jesus went to Zacheus house and Matthew's house he was approving sin?? It's the sick that need doctors as Jesus says to the Pharisees. Do you have many friends who are sinners? Jesus does.
@@chuckholloway6567 We are all sinners, so yes I have a ton of friends who are sinners. The difference is the people who are largely in my life repent of their sin and make active efforts to avoid it, as Christ wants us to do. Jesus never affirmed sin. He always helped people, confronted their sin, and told them to go and sin no more.
It's kind of a loaded question - in fact, technically, a leading question. On what scriptural basis do you contend that monogamous homosexual marriage is sinful? Nothing in Paul or the Pentateuch unequivocally supports that. Certainly. Nothing Jesus says in the Gospel supports it. The real question is can you see the divine in the face of a homosexual? Can you be Jesus to him? Can you live him? The answer to each of those questions seems to be no. You might want to rethink your expectations of judgement.
