    Hey Nicole, I loved your information about keeping the flowers dry in the fridge. Could you maybe do a video in the future of a list of methods of how to a)prolong flower life and b)hurry bloom? I know you give our pieces of this info in your videos but I think because you've had to adapt to not having a large fridge, you probably have amazing tricks to control the life span of a cut flower.

    Tons of restaurants closed this year permenantly, industrial refrigerators are easier to pick up used than ever before. Some of your local refrigeration repair people may know of good deals and/or there are restaurant auction sights.

    And also---have you ever looked into purchasing a used fridge from your local electric company? I don't know where you're located but some electric companies in my state offer a free pickup service for people who find themselves with too many fridges. Some of them they rip apart to do - something - with, and others they offer for sale. I have a gardener friend who picked up a BIG one for fifteen bucks. Just a thought!

    OMG, what a great video and I'm so sad that I've not found your channel until now! I suffer from bulb MANIA in the hugest font possible...and this video really hit home. I don't sell my flowers and I don't have thousands, as you do, but I have a WHOLE LOT and every year I somehow manage to find room for more and more and more. I think I might even go so far as to say I have a little bit of a *ahem* "problem" with scented narcissus---King Winston lol, Delnashaugh, Tahiti, Actaea, Vanilla Peach (silly me thought these might smell like peaches! lol - no, but they smell fantastic)...and so many others. Didn't know about the "color crack" - great tip! Now I'm caught up in my annual amaryllis/paperwhite insanity, while also watching the UPS guy deliver more and more and MORE tulips and alliums and frittilarias and...since the ground is frozen I'm scrounging for pots. No idea if you'll even see this but if you do, THANKS AGAIN!

    What do you do to keep the weeds out after the daffodils are done blooming? Last fall I planted a 100 ft row that are just peeking out of the dirt. Weeds are showing already. I might have a big mess!😬

      I do nothing. It's a grass patch when it is not daffodils.

    Question- my anenomes started flowering, but the stem is literally a few inches tall. Can't cut for a bouquet. Will the following stems grow longer? Is there a fertilizer I can feed it? Ranunculus plants are also short. Tips?

    • @FlowerHillFarm
      @FlowerHillFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The first buds are shorter, they should lengthen and be usable in two weeks.

    Question, I harvested tulips with the bulbs put them in the fridge. Is it normal for them to wilt? And how long before you need them do you take them out and put them in water? MANY THANKS

    • @FlowerHillFarm
      @FlowerHillFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be normal. I usually hydrate them overnight and the vast majority of then recover. I'd give them at least 2 hours of hydration before trying to use them in arrangements.

    Just curious, why do you harvest into crates instead of buckets of water? Seems like crates would be lighter and easier than buckets full of water but I've never seen it done like this.

    • @FlowerHillFarm
      @FlowerHillFarm  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re being stored dry. I don’t harvest into water when I am dry storing. Harvesting tulips into crates is standard in farming!

      @@FlowerHillFarm how long a life can you get from dry storage? And do you cut them at a different stage? I would love to see you dedicate a video on dry storing. You give tidbits of wonderful information yet always leaves me with more questions. Thank you for your transparency. My local flower peeps are stingy in sharing.

      Tulips need to be moved to prevent disease, they are not reliable perennials. They rarely come back once they are cut. I’ve done several videos on the topic 💐
