I don't know how many threads on the net I have read so far which are testament to the fact how very confused people (myself absolutely included, mind you) are about how this thing with USB/2-TR input/output inclusion/exclusion really works.
I must have read the according sections of the manuals to my X1204USB, Q802USB and Q502USB about 10 times each before I finally (with some experimentation) got to the point where things came together for me; and still I have to look up my notes, whenever I haven't done multi-tracking with them in a while.
Your video on the other hand makes it all very easy to understand (I am really surprised that there are only ~725 views.)
Anyway, many thanks for taking the time not only to show how it's done, but also for doing it with very clear diagrams. Big thumbs up.

Hi there - I just read your comment that you have been able to complete the USB/2-TR input/output inclusion/exclusion with Xeynx1204 USB mixer. I see two red buttons (2-TR/USB and 2-TR/USB to Main) and 2 black buttons (Alt 3-4 and Main Mix) and 1 knob (for Phones/Ctrl Room). How do I need to use these buttons along with RCA loop cable to accomplish the following - record only microphone audio in computer via usb while playing music/karaoke track on computer and be able to hear the music/vocal together with no latency in headphones

  • @Sadlander2
    @Sadlander2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Wow, I had no idea!!! Up until now, I just used one side of my headphones, so that I could hear the music coming from the headphones on one ear and hear my voice with my other ear because, even after installing the ASIO driver, the latency was so big that it was just impossible to hear myself on my headphones. I just tried to connect the RCA Left & Right outputs to the inputs and...magic!!! It works! So glad I saw this video! Thank you for making it and sharing this!!!

Thank you for this! It's simpler than some other "explanations" I've been looking at. And I like the trick with the RCA jacks. You have almost 250,000 views -- for a video that explains a _really_ obscure and complex problem.

Ok, lol. I was a film major, so I have audio knowledge in the most basic, just-more-than-an-enthusiast type of level. I’ve been looking for an answer to this question FOR MONTHS. Every video or tutorial was either so basic it didn’t cover what I needed to know, or so complicated I’d need to own a record label to understand. This answered my questions! THANK YOU!

Another solution is mini mixer for the laptop out (ourr recorder) and the mixer out, just in case we need all inputs of the mixer.

Thanks for this excellent explanatory video. I think one key piece of information is missing - How do you connect the RCA loop lead? From what you have shown, I'm guessing you just plug both L and R RCA channels to connect the Output to the Input sockets, which creates an analog feedback loop that only goes to the headphone monitors. Correct?

So you basically put a stereo chinch audiocable in the 2-Track In and Out, To Phones Down, To Main Mix Up, and then you hear computer audio plus latence free mic on your headphones, without re-recording the computeraudio in the Track. And all that doesn't damage the Mixer? Is that right? It's so confusing...

A good tutorial on routing of audio signals with useful diagrams.
The zero latency trick is pretty awesome! However it is mentioned that keeping the "USB/2-Track" to "Main Mix" button down (accidentally) would cause feedback and possible damage the unit. The manual says that when this button is down, the signal to the "2-track out" (as well as the audio going to the USB from the mixer) would be cut off. Which means there is a built in protection against feedback in case the said button is down. However this raises another question. How would the overdubbed recording scenario work if the audio signal going to the USB (from the mixer) is cut off when the said button is down?

Hi, this is excellent. I hv just bought a Behringer 302USB as I wish to Karaoke live stream on FB live. My set up will be mic (for vocals) through the main Mic port, and tracks input from an iPhone on to LINE RCA ports.
Can you briefly tell me the audio routing options from the Behringer 302USB (or 502 USB) to a laptop, for live streaming, such that I can hear the mixed output on my Monitoring headphones as well? Thanks !

Your presentation and overall description is excellent. I have one question, while listening from headphones and control room can it give echo affect ? Does it have equaliser ?

Question: If I hook up my USB mixer to my Ipad and use garageband or any DAW software to capture the incoming live performance sound/signal from mixer and then use Airplay to send the sound wirelessly out to a speaker and not necessarily for recording, but just strictly using the captured the sound from the mixer onto the Ipad so I can Airplay it to the speaker. Can I do this while having all speakers on loudly without worrying about any feedback? or Can I do this at all? Thank you.

Can you use this unit without needing the USB? I just want to use it with a Mic and keyboards into my 4 track tascam recorder

Yes, you don’t need to use the USB. RCA connection works best for 4 track TASCAM.

I have a Behringer Xenyx 1204USB connected to my windows 10 desktop via usb only. I'm using Track Live, a free recording program just to test if the inputs are being recognized in the software, but so far i haven't been able to see any audio coming into the Tracks. I'm using ASIO4ALL driver as well. I'll attempt to try again following this video, I'd expect I shouldn't have to purchase another recording module that the USB connection is all that I should need.

This mixer is an audio interface, so no need to purchase additional interface. It only supports USB stereo audio (2 out x 2 in), of the main outputs. If you are expecting or looking for each channel to record separately in WAVES Tracks Live, then it will only show just 2 channels.

Hi, Thanks for your response. My mixer is slightly different than this video. I have in the Source section[2-TR/USB(red), ALT 3-4(grey), Main Mix(grey) buttons] and outside of the Source section to the right I have a [2-TR/USB to Main (red) button] Assuming that I have the software routing set correctly, do you know which of these buttons should be pressed and depressed? I assume again with it being pressed/set correctly that when I play an instrument, that I should see activity within WAVES Tracks Live. Thank you for your help! Ever since Iphone released 10.3 IOS, my phone adapter to record the mixer directly into the phone has stopped working.

How would I hook up/need additionally to make three usb rode podcaster
USB microphones work and which of the two mixers do you prefer for a
    first time podcaster...?

    • @RecordingStudio9
      @RecordingStudio9  7 ปีที่แล้ว

If you are using USB mics, then you cannot really use a mixer, as the USB mic plugs to the PC USB port directly.
You can use ASIO4ALL to combine multiple USB Mics into your recording software, but you may have some issues.
If you need 3 Mics but simple stereo main audio to your recording software, then 3 dynamic or condenser Mics into any 3 Mic channel USB mixer should do.
      Hope this helps

Hi. Congratulations, the video is very interesting, but being Italian I didn't understand much, and I can't follow you from the figures. I have a beringher 1204 usb fx, connected to my desktop PC via usb cable. my inputs in the mixer are: microphone via cannon cable and stereo input connected to the pc output for music and backing tracks. finally headphones connected to the headphone output of the mixer. One question please: why am I not hearing the properly selected reverb effect on headphones? (if I remove the headphones it is heard regularly through speakers). I tried activating and deactivating the various keys, but nothing. I am desperate. I need it to sing by connecting the mobile phone to the mixer. If you can kindly help me, I would be grateful to you

Hey man thanks for the video. In stead of doing the rca to rca in and output. Can I route another instrument or piece of hardware , etc. to rca in and then rca it out to another speaker or sampler or whatever. Like to have a separate out ? If you could let me know it would be appreciated. Thanks

This is a video I’m looking for. It is detailed enough to set up a record system with Xenyx mixer. I want to ask you if I want to sing live through this to Facebook ? Thanks a lot

What if you are connecting the USB from the Q502 to a music server that feeds the speakers through a amplifier?

Hi, I'm watching you video with great interest but I have a different problem.
I am a radio broadcaster. The thing is I broadcast from home using Barix annuncicom 100 as intercom connecting me to the radio station via internet. I achieve great result as if I'm sitting the studio at the station.
The problem is I have a co-host who called in to my iphone, which I plug in the input slot on my xenyx q502usb. I also achieve very good result, we -- my co-host calling in plug in from iphone and myself both sound mixed by xenyx q502usb sending via Annuncicom 100 to the radio station.
The problem is because I plug in iphone into one of the input slots, the sound from the mixer doesn't get sent back to the phone. My voice, while chatting with the co-host get through to the iphone from the iphone microphone and not from the microphone I plug into the mixer.
On top of that, my co-host cannot hear any sounds from the radio station; i.e. the jingles and so on. Someone suggested me get lighting jack to USB camera for iphone, which I did and I plug this into xenyx q502usb via USB port, it also doesn't work. The sounds travel one way, either in from the iphone or out to the iphone.
What should I do to also get sounds to and from iphone, via either USB or any other channel from xenyx q502usb?
Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have Audacity software. I am able to get sound through my headphones. I'm trying to record voice for a TH-cam video. I am unable to get sound from my speakers and I NEED TO. I have mixer going into "Mic" on puter and the speakers are plugged into the "Out" on the puter. ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED.

I assume you have the non-USB version of the mixer? Use 2 x RCA (L+R) into a stereo 3.5 plug to connect mixer RCA input/output into your PC in/out. Connect speaker onto the mixer MAIN output.
