In today's NHL fighting is almost extinct. The NHL wants to go light contact. There is very little place for fighting, or one dimensional players nowadays. There are literally like 7 fighters in the entire NHL now. You need to be able to at least play, to be in the game now. If he can hit, be physical, and contribute, there will be a place for him. If all he can do is fight, he will be gone sooner than later.

I wouldn't say "afraid". The coaching staff explained to him very carefully when and when not to fight. The time Wilson challenged him the Rangers were winning plus had all the momentum going their way. Wilson himself even admitted that. No way is a rookie kid going to defy his coaching staff, especially in the playoffs.

I saw a snippet of his exit interview this year and he was basically saying he can’t wait to get to work in the off season and work on the weak spots of his game. Yes he will continue to fight most challengers but if he could round out his overall game even slightly every off season he could be a menace of a power forward. Not saying he’s going to be Milan Lucic but if he’s committed to staying in the big leagues which I’m sure he is he could quickly become less of a reckless punk and more of a player gms stumble over themselves to replicate.
I wasn’t a huge fan of his early in the season I will admit. I’m a caps fan so it’s tough to root for any Ranger but this kid is growing on me and I’d like to see him succeed.

Fighting, especially the way Georges did it, is about balance. Yes, he could overpower a lot of guys, but he could also take on guys even bigger and stronger than he was, thanks to his skating. This could turn out to be nothing, but it's possible that Rempe will end up being a better player in general, depending on what this training actually looks like.

Rempe is bad. Full stop. He hits, fans cheer, the guy he's hit moves on as though he's not been hit. He's not good at fighting, skating, hitting, shooting or passing. It's not clear he should be in the ahl even. He wins faceoffs, which is a real skill, and I respect him trying to live his dream but the most likely result of him being allowed to go up against NHL athletes is he's going to get hurt. Stop this stupid hype, please. He energizes the crowd, which... cool I guess. I don't think the nhl is even slightly chilled, nevermind terrified.
