  • 'Disgusting! People react to Edinburgh rubbish chaos as bin strike takes hold. Bin chaos which has made Edinburgh resident's lives a misery has spread across Scotland, as refuse collectors in other major cities including Glasgow and Dundee join the strike. The industrial action has made Edinburgh an 'international embarrassment' as rubbish has piled high (pictured) whilst the city hosts the Fringe Festival. From today, staff at 13 local authorities, including Glasgow, Dundee, and Aberdeen, will join those in Edinburgh and strike over a pay dispute. Trade unions were offered a 5% pay rise, but this was described as an 'insulting' amount in the face of the cost of living crisis.

The bin men around here barely do their job. Abandoned bins left in the middle of the streets blocking buggies and wheelchairs, missed collections, and overflowing bins in parks. To be honest this situation isn't much worse than when they are working. It is a low-skilled minimum wage job. Aldi is currently recruiting and pays the same if you want a change of job. The Edinburgh council bin rubbish is not the fault of the SNP or Nicola Sturgeon, it is the fault of the Scottish Labour party as they are in charge of the council but what Scotland needs is Independence and the break up of the United Kingdom as the UK is a failed state full of poverty.
