It's so refreshing to see a deck like this. It disrups a bit, controls a bit, but mainly it slaps. As they say, never bring a 3/3 to a 5/4 pro blue fight
14:43 You gotta love a deck where Chalice on 6 is a reasonable line to think about. Also interesting to note that this deck has zero Reserved List cards in it. So while it's still obviously very expensive with all those Chrome Moxes, Ancient Tombs, and Chalices, it's nonetheless cheaper than most Legacy decks in paper.
Chrome mox and ancient tombs are reasonable legacy cards to pick up anyway. They're used in a handful of decks and it's not like they're bad in EDH either
I am proud to announce that Darnell of our monthly magic bash in Albany bought the cards to play this deck after you posted it. He thinks he will have a fair shot at the next pro tour rocking this magically crafted spicy (but strong) list; and we support him strongly. We prepare the team hoodies tomorrow. Can you have a call on zoom with Darnell before that fateful day? Boost his moral please!! You are his (and ours) favourite content creator in the magic Sphere.
was going to make something similar with thru and tyrant to hose the all the blue counters, was going to use basilisk collar for the trample deathtouch combo.
Hi. I'm getting bak into legacy after discovering a few channels from great content creators, like yourself or Bosh n roll. So I may be rusty but if I can I'd like to ask what made you play the line at 25:47 of ancient tomb + elvish + gsz into devoted druid, while there is another already in your hand ? You wanted to get to two druid that much ? The other way wouldn't have been easier ? At another point, 53:00, you play your carpet as a bait for daze ? Isn't it a very important card deserving to play chrome/imprint once upon a time before, to be daze proof, considering it was the play after ?
39:37 why not imprint Spirit Guide in the Chrome Mox so if the Ouphe dies you'll have one more mana? It's going to exile either way, but is exiling directly for name safer for some reason?
I'm surprised how often you boarded out trinisphere. It seems so good vs murktide and the blue painter deck. Sure murktide itself is still playable and urzas sagas get around it, but it hits the rest of the deck so hard. Also maybe a bit biased because I love 3sphere. Thanks for the video!
I won't claim that I'm always right on sideboarding, but Trinisphere often gets cut against fair decks in post sb games. It's totally reasonable in game 1 vs these decks, but I often feel like taxation is not the angle I'm trying to take.
This deck list needs some Tyrranax Rex love :P probably a 2:2 split with Carnage Tyrant. Toxic 4 is mostly irrelevant here, but Ward 4 is functionally equivalent to Hexproof in most Legacy games and the extra point of damage with Haste is chef's kiss
What would you say to a singleton Allosaurus Shepherd in the board for some win more funtime protection for the GSZs and a way to turn random Devoted Druids into actual threats? Oddly effective, which suggests that the Legacy metagame is kind of unhealthy, right now. So I guess... "BAH GOD, IT'S A BANLIST UPDATE WITH THE STEEL CHAIR!"
Honestly it looks like you could cut the luxior and the trinispheres in the main for three Wilson, Refined Grizzly for a 2 drop version of your top end and do pretty well. Move the spheres to the sideboard, cut the relic and make some space and you have three threats that can come down turn two that do a reasonable impression of a lot of your other threats.
As someone who years ago played in an FNM against a deck with 24 counterspells in it, I thoroughly approve of this build. In fact, I created an EDH deck called "Yes!" for all of those "no" decks out there. Every spell in the deck either has "can't be countered" or has Split Second. I'm sorry, did you say you were playing blue? 🤣🤣🤣
@@ThrabenUniversity so you’re playing towards topdecking another ancient tomb? That’s the only situation I can see it as not just costing you 2 life and a potential threat later.
Thoughts on adding in the Tyrranax Rex from MOM to the deck instead of one or two of the Carnage Tyrants? It's one more mana, but it has haste and is an 8/8.
time stamp 39:48, I would argue you should imprint the spirit gide to the chrome mox, and play oph. then if oph is removed you have perminint mana, spirit guide is still one use anyway.
@@ThrabenUniversity I've been testing it and removed thrun, its been really fun and I think its overall better game one. Thrun is way stickier and nice vs the multi-colored control decks and good stuff piles. That 8/8 haster just end games the toxic doesn't matter. Just can't counter, hard to interact with and slams in. I also just play 4 once upon at time and removed the mystics. Fun stuff!
I had/have a Surrak "Counter This" EDH deck that gives me the same "screw you, Blue" vibes... it's definitely not remotely cEDH, but it is a bunch of fun.
This deck is sweet, although I’m a little sad we couldn’t play the green initiative card - undermountain adventurer. I’m not sure it would be good, but I’d have liked to have been able to consider it.
Mtg fact: uncounterable cards like this are in pretty much every set, so that if blue ever dominates a format, there'll be cards to call it a bitch. It's like a rule WOTC has to always include one uncounterable hexproof Timmy card. Similarly, they always include a way to hate on set themes, just incase the fancy new mechanic is busted.
5 mana thrun ? to me he's a side option for bant control on arena but i guess wipes aren't popular in legacy, first time i see thrun in a non control deck x)
I was incredibly tired of playing 4c in modern and decided to take this for a spin in that format. It's definitely a bit weaker.. BUT it's soooo fun. I ended up going 4-1 with it. It can definitely be tuned to go 5-0 in a blue heavy meta.
Definitely feel like the deck should have some sort of creature mana sink to just get'em. Otherwise, legitimately might be the first legacy deck I try.
If you had a competitive sb this would have been a wild league , it's funny when people have a good idea 💡 it's like it always has to be ruined w pet cards lol. Pithing needle and force would be something else in there.
This is a pretty decent deck, I'm disappointed to see that you aren't running staples like Colossal Dreadmaw but I can understand why you want to stick to fair decks in legacy

Ive been dying to your deadpan commentary around that bane of progress.
This was SICK
In round 2, I was hoping you'd play Chalice on 6 for Kappa Cannoneer instead of on 3. It would have been both absurd AND reasonable haha
Yeah, I agree.
With exactly zero downside since your 6cmc creatures can't be countered
Sweet deck dude. Always love to see delver get rekt.
There's nothing I love more than decks that just smack around these intricate combo and value decks with big dumb dudes.
I always hope to see Skylasher in can't-be-countered/pro-blue decks, but the little guy just can't cut it in Legacy
Maybe 7 years ago I played a few of them as sb tech in some decks, but yeah, he doesn't hang any more.

Yup, that's correct!
awesome use of Luxior!

Great changes! Very excited to be playing the format, and I'll be recording my longform thoughts tonight for this week's Eternal Glory Podcast.
What a awesome deck
I find it odd to see a Devoted Druid in legacy without Swift Reconfiguration.
With Luxior works
