    I appreciate your humility & your willingness to share your thoughts. I am a book lover too and i have recently really been praying about things i have been reading. It's so hard to know if it is conviction or guilt because you have been taught that something is wrong, when the Bible is not clear on it. It is so wonderful to hear different perspectives and you are so right, seek The Lord on everything and pray about everything! Blessings sister! 🤎

    I love your Christian perspective on “secular” fantasy books! I find myself in a very similar place in regards to faith and it’s transformed how I read books in the best way. God bless you, sister and happy reading! 👑

    Yes...the spirit of Mrs. Rachel Lynde is alive and well in others today. I often wondered how I would have survived their razor sharp critiques and blunt opinions...👑[I hope that's a crown - it's so small]

    I support your beliefs 100%. The Word of God could be rated R and is full of all kinds of crazy and inappropriate things and yet we are called to be in The Word daily. We need to be ready and aware. I cant wait for you to read The Mark of the Lions trilogy, its a goodie. Im reading Redeeming Love right now. I read so broadly though, im all over the place. 👑

      yesssss I totally agree. I once heard a pastor talk about that same thing. fiction can help soooo much, even with biblical concepts! & shielding ourselves from everything can be hurtful. being in the Word should always take priority! ✨ thank you so much. & that's awesome!! redeeming love is my favorite 🥹🖤

    I just read Beauty by Robin McKinley! It's a beauty and the beast retelling. It's clean and no political undertones, if you want to add it to your tbr.

    I so appreciate you being open and vulnerable. 🥰I come from a similar background in terms of everything being so hyper-spiritualized (i.e. my Hercules VHS tape was destroyed with I was a kid because of the evil seeping out of it and Harry Potter is still a no-go with most of my family). I'm so glad the Holy Spirit is who He is and works in our hearts the way He does. And the Bible does 100% have grey areas we will never find common ground on with everybody. Loved hearing all your thoughts! And I loved The Bear and the Nightingale when I read it, but the convictions came with time.👑👑👑

    • @harmshoney
      @harmshoney  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      oh my gosh yes! definitely relatable. we certainly won't find common ground with everyone, I just wish more people were okay with that - especially when it's not a salvation issue. thank you so much!! 🖤✨

      @@harmshoney Yesss! So many of these things are not salvation issues. And that's where I try to avoid conflict with other believers, it's never-ending lol.

      @@miriamelizabethreads it really is. especially when others start insulting your walk with God 🥴 conviction is so important, we're all on such unique journeys & we should all consider that! 🖤

    I never censore my reads and I actually enjoy mythology, but I also dnf'ed the bear and the nightingale for the same thing! I feel like as a christian in the west in 2024 the normal thing is to desagree with it so it's not even revolutionary or critiquing anything it hasn't been heard. I found your channel because of this video, I'm subscribing!

    Coming from a pagan background myself to being saved and working to root into biblical Christianity i think its a little silly when Christians say certain things open "portals" like there is absolutely a wickedness in the world and we wrestle not of flesh and bones, but! Reading a fun story that you are not worshipping isn't allowing demons into your flesh. 😅 always appreciate your insight and how you emphasize discernment because it is important. My current fantasy series im on book 3, and each book has the mc has a new lover guy! Im just not loving that theme and getting ready to drop the series. It hasnt been spicy at all, thankfully, but I also think it might ramp up. It's also getting more dark and ritualistic, which im just not vibing with. Anyways my lil rant lol!! Always appreciate youre view on things and being outspoken. Praying for you and your families wellbeing as always!
    Also, i enjoy your haul videos because i end up adding to my wishlists 👀😂 i dont think you're ever materialistic/flashy either. Much love, queen, dont ever drop your crown 👸 👑

      yes!! I completely agree. it's akin to living in fear, it's insane. we give the enemy way too much credit. & ohh yeah that would annoy me too lol! thanks so much for all your kind words & support 🥹🖤✨😚

    I usually associate the hyper charismatics with heresy, I didn't think that they could also be legalists, but I guess it kinda makes sense.

    Sweetie.... mythology and folklore stories are simply stories about other mighty ones, other gods that are not the Creator...demons or fallen angels, depending on what understanding you subscribe to. They're just made fun and fancy...in order to seem innocent fictional stories. They're not fiction...those beings were really worshipped, sacrificed to etc.

    • @harmshoney
      @harmshoney  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

      yes I am aware of this & it's what I talked about it in the video - this is a belief that many hold though it is not clearly stated in scripture. I said that is why I put the book down & didn't finish it - I was convicted due to the bias against Christianity. I am not worshipping other beings nor am I glorifying them. I occasionally read fantasy or mythology because they can still contain lessons to be learned, & many contain biblical allegories. the stories I read are fiction. there are many fictional stories that *are* innocent. this is my conviction, if yours are different, that's fine! we are all on our own journey.

    • @Irene.Shalom

      Respectfully though, the Bible does talk about it. It talks about the gods of the Babylonians, of the Canaanites, of the Egyptians, of the Greeks and Romans, of the Gauls/Celts etc etc. It clearly tells the Israelites (and us) to stay away from them, to not even let their names pass on our lips. If you do some historical research, you'll see that all civilizations carried over the same gods, just with different names. From Nimrod/Semiramis/Tammuz onward...

    • @harmshoney
      @harmshoney  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @Irene.Shalom I have done research - I've read theology, listened to pastors & theologians, etc. some believe it's okay, some don't. some even credit their passion for the gospel because of stories outside of Scripture such as Narnia & LOTR, while still putting scripture first in their lives. as one theologian said, "Mythological stories exist to provide an explanation for natural phenomena and occasionally teach some kind of moral lesson. Religion, by contrast, seeks to build a systematic framework by which humans should live and show them how they should relate to God." I understand what you're saying - I believed the same thing you do. this is something that I have researched & prayed about for a long time. I still believe that we can learn lessons from any stories, whether they're explicitly Christian or not. it does not mean it becomes your religion. "do not let their names pass your lips" I believe was in reference to worship & idolatry. we still read their names aloud in scripture, that doesn't mean we worship them. I am not worshipping or glorifying anything. respectfully, this is where I sit with my convictions & if you disagree, that's fine. please do not put your own on me. thank you though! 🖤
