Rukia add value more than just being "strong" and "girl boss". She's the reason why Ichigo recovered from depression. She's the reason why Ichigo grew up. She changed Renji, Hanataro, ichigo, Orihime etc. Pretty much and everyone around her changed because the way she is. And she also became strong and recovered from her trauma along with the journey.
She didn't cure anything. I mean for sure it was a good emotional moment of her trying to help Ichigo, but she didn't cure anything, you don't get cured of depression just by listening to some words. Ichigo started healing the moment he started training with the Visored to dominate his Hollow side, then you get to the lost agent arc when Ichigo no longer needs a hollow mask to use his hollow powers. And then he finally gets over with his depression when Ichigo accepted his hollow side and also OMZ as him in "The Blade is me"
@juggram_99 Rukia didn’t cure Ichigo of his depression per se. But Ichigo even said that Rukia “stopped the rain inside me”. Because Rukia gave him the power to protect, which changed his world. Though you are 100% right that Ichigo did not actually overcome his depression and guilt for his mother’s death until “The Blade Is Me”.
She gave a lot of people the strenght to grow, physically and emotionally, I always felt she was like a Big sister for the croup, a lot of people forget she is older and wiser than those 15 Y/O without being overly serious or mature and having funny and a childish side too. Her more aggressive attitude makes sense too since her and Renji lived in the literal streets for years. Her relationship with Byakuya too, they really saved each other on their own way, is super sweet everyone thinks they act like actual siblings. 😅
Ganju as well and Byakuya. Also she herself falls in the pitfalls that she sets to ichigo and delves into her own traumas by meeting aaroniero she has her own hero's journey
I’ve always said Rukia might be the best written Shonen female Character she not their for fan service or to be the MC’s love interest she is an actual character with great character writing development and power progression she started off as a 3rd seat by the end of the series she is a captain her dynamic with characters like Ichigo, Renji, Orihime, Byakuya, and Kaein are all amazing as well
She was not a 3rd seat. Ichigo was quoted 3rd to 4th seat level after doing the nameless Getsuga in the Urahara training. Rukia was seated officer level, probably double digits. So, even better progression for her.
Not being fanservice or a love interest doesn't equal being a good female character. But I guess that's enough for Rukia fans to glorify a character. Plus it's a lie because she's Renji's love interest, and she has plenty of fanservice. Her writing is okay at best and her growth isn't good at all, she's just a damsel in distress during the whole series, even in her last fight. Her dynamic with Orihime is severely lacking. In fact, she's just a regular Shonen female character and she's far from being the best Shonen female character. She isn't even the best in her own series
Best written Shounen Female????? That's a big stretch. Medaka Kurokami from Medaka Box , Clare & all the other female characters from Claymore negs her.
SHE IS DEFINITELY NOT RENJI'S LOVE INTEREST. SHE HAD LITERALLY NEVER SHOWED ANY ROMANTIC FEELING TOWARDS RENJI OR ANY OTHER CHARACTER IN BLEACH DURING THE SHOW. THERE'S NO ANY ROMANCE ASPECT IN RUKIA'S WRITING OR ROLE IN THE SHOW. SHE ENDED UP MARRYING HIM, BUT IT'S NOT HER POINT AS A CHARACTER. SHE ALSO COULD'VE ENDED UP SINGLE AND SHE'D STILL BE WHAT SHE IS. @@dele6230
Idk why but after being rescued from her execution by Ichigo, I’ve lost interest in her, even now I feel like she’s irrelevant and her bankai reveal was the last thing I was looking forward to in Bleach, even though I’ve already read the manga… But to each their own.
@@UltimaFantasyI also wonder why you lost interest in her. Rukias story is so rich. I'm an anime only but from what I've picked up is that she is tied to too many characters to be irrelevant. She is integral in every arc so I wonder what made you feel that way. Her bankai like anyone's bankai fleshes out the characters. Being that they are part of their soul we get to learn a lot from them. So I also wonder if her shikai didnt impress you either ?
@@UltimaFantasy I also wonder why you lost interest. For me one of here highest point was when she fought Aaroniero, it put forward here guilt and fear once again.
@@polormx2151 Rukia is the Author's favorite character but it sure doesn't feel that way and honest she could have used a little "Girlboss" magic tossed her way she only won one fight the entire series without getting scratched or stabbed for the 100th time and that was against D'roy. Everytime Rukia is on screen her fights always have to be a struggle like it gets old real quick can she ever just obliterate someone like please. Shes also my favorite character and yes she contributes to Ichigo's mental state alot aside from that though the treatment of her throughout the story has been terrible - from losing her powers, the Execution, Always struggling in a fight even though shes a prodigy, Always bloody and stabbed, half the time shes just completely absent, gets one shining moment with Bankai then thrown to the side again.
The way BLEACH made Unohana proves this point. She's part of both a monster and a loving mother but she's not both at the same time. She's the most extreme example from Bleach but Rukia fits this video better indeed.
I think it's because during the first episodes, her giving her soul reaper powers to Ichigo kind of had her start the series as a damsel in distress. First impressions gave her a bad rep. Even then, she was pretty excellent as part of supporting cast. And she is easily one of the most powerful soul reapers without a bankai during most of the series' run.
You're probably talking more about Orihime. A lot of people needlessly hate Orihime despite her having an amazing characterization and importance to the story.
Erza Scarlet Is An incredible example of a Well done "Strong female character". She's introduced as a very stern and powerful figure, then that facade slowly unravels throughout the story as she shows that she has many weaknesses and flaws. She's never just "Unbeatable Boss Girl"
It's almost as if she's a real person-crazy, right? I love Erza; in my opinion, she's one of the best female characters in Shounen. She's one of the strongest in FT, sure, but she, as you said, has her flaws and trauma, she has hobbies and things she likes, things she can't do (cook) and it all feels natural and not forced, it makes her relatable.
no she is not, she overpowered for no reason and just wins fights because she is Erza. Out of all the females you could have chosen you went for Rey 2.0
@@noks234That's literally just one part of her. Yes, she is crazy strong, but as he said, she also has many flaws outside of battle. She's mentally weak and develops alongside her allies. Yeah, she's OP as fuck during fights, but she's not just fights at all times
I'll be honest, even ignoring her gender, Rukia has a bunch of other things about her that solidify her as a great heroine in Bleach. The solitary bang that goes down her face, making her easily recognisable even when she cuts her hair short or ties it into a side pony. The little bears and bunnies she draws. Her art isn't the best, but it's still so cute. Her interactions with Ichigo, Byakuya and Renji. Their dynamics are all interesting to see, and we get some funny, badass and heartfelt moments. Her Shikai/Bankai. If you asked someone what Sode no Shirayuki is, 9 times out of 10 they'll be able to tell you. Not to mention her profficiency with hado spells like number 33 Sokatsui. All these things can be connected to Rukia easily. You'd think from this that Bleach is a show that handles its heroines pretty well, and since I'm nice, I won't be comparing it to any others. However. Tatsuki's potential being higher than the average human's doesn't lead anywhere despite the main story having her run into Ulquiorra and later on Aizen. She survives, but is still kept in the sidelines. Everyone else on Ichigo's team gets cool powers except her, and I'm still mad about it. Even the filler knew what Tatsuki was capable of and had her join Don Kanoji's Karakuraizer Squad.
Unlike most girls in Bleach, Rukia looks more like regular girl, yet her personality and quirks are unmatched by any other female in the series. She's one of the reasons why i liked this anime in the first place
I started to like girls in anime because of her, before i didn’t really care about the female characters. I even had to cut my hair short once and to feel better I would tell myself I looked like her. Kkkk
You are pretty much on point with everything. In fact, Orihime bores me to no end. All she brings to the table are her huge oppai, the fact she is nice and cute and that she screams "Kurosaki-kun" a lot. That the two of them get together I feel is Kubo's greatest mistake. Rukia and Ichigo had a relationship that grew over time, one based on trust and understanding one another - again, Ichigo's relationship with Orihime boils down to her screaming his name and he dies to get stronger so she can be saved.
It's not just Rukia, Bleach has a hoard of female characters who are very interesting, even if they don't have a lot of screentime. Orihime also comes to mind, she was a character I didn't like in the beginning, but end up growing on me. But there is also Matsumoto, Nanao, Unohana, Nelliel, even the protagonist's mother, Masaki Kurosaki.
I remember when I watch Bleach for the first time and I just love Rukia. She's my fav female leads after watching many anime. I love how we get to see how Kubo reveal Rukia's ability throughout the series. The moment she show her shikai, Sodenoshirayuki and how she able to face that Arrancar that able to manipulate her by using Kaien's image while she was still traumatised from his death. I just love this fight scene because you can see how she tries to overcome her past and move on. Then, I really love how she really care for her friends. Whenever Ichigo is down, she'll be there to bring him back to his normal self. When Orihime was depressed due to her own problems and people keep brushing her aside because she's the pacifist of the team, Rukia was there to support her and even willing to train with her in Soul Society before Orihime was forced to leave them to go to Hueco Mundo. I just love Rukia xD. Like she's this strong woman yet she show off her cute side (from her artistic drawing that Ichigo always criticize about and her love towards cute things).
only issue i have with her was why didn't she use her shikai that was strong enough to defeat an arrancar when fighting a low level hollow that wasn't even a menos grande.
@@davidkuykendall3778 In my opinion, it's because that if she were to reveal her ability early on in Bleach, I guess Ichigo won't be a shinigami in the first place. I guess that's how Kubo sorta wanted to start the plot of Bleach? Who knows.
@@davidkuykendall3778 There's no issue, you just don't remember it. She got heavily weakened by Urahara, because of the Hogyoku hidden inside, it was even explained later on why it could happen (and you should know it already since you CLEARLY got to the arrancar arc at least). The whole damn point of Ichiho taking all of her powers by "accident" comes from that reason, something was stopping her potential to fight or control her powers. The moment she regained her power back she was able to access her shikai again.
You know the thing about Rukia is that no one can argue she is a "token girl". For context, the token girl phenomenon is a shonen troupe when author/studio tries to make a somewhat "deep" female charac thats not (or more than just) fanservice but it comes off forced and pretentious. Naruto, god of highschool, jjk, aot, death note, mha, all use this 2 guy 1 gal trio formula thats relies on the "shes one of da bois" writing, btw the one that abuses this the most is the pokemon series : its always ash brock and token girl of the season. Aside trio tactic, a token girl can also be generated for: a) mc love interest/ fangirl even when the anime doesnt need it (death note author himself confirmed his unwillingness to have misa in the story) b) "plot device" - either a tool for another charac's development/coolness, or an easy retconn/recovery solution for a team. Some have no identity without the characs they're attached to (tsumiki for megumi, Momo for Nobara, shoko as she is, utahime for gojo, even nobara if u read the manga) c) all ideas no code: starts of with an interesting concept, author never explores that and throws her into thd filler void, Ws only against mob npcs and no real respectful opponent, or killed off. Best recent example is you guessed it, Yuki from jjk again. Its kinda funny how im using all examples from jjk that was previously praised for its female roster, and even funnier when jjk was meant to be inspired from bleach. Lets see what the og did 15 yrs ago that the new shonen couldnt replicate: Rukia - not a love interest of mc, is the plot driver instead of a plot device (her actions led to series of consequences and she is the central plot instead of a tagger), least fanservice girl of the series, not loud or overly tomboyish to be seen as one of da bois, has Ws against other interesting ppl, has someone else crushing for her first before she crushed on anyone (shonen likes to make girls fall first to prop up a guy, rukia had it he other way around).
That's not even counting how in true Sode no Shirayuki, she is the "invincible" female character who does not need to struggle while we have an actual character. Cold-Blooded on ALL ACCOUNTS with that power!
Since you bring up rings of power, I'll mention another live action show: Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Part of why Buffy's a compelling lead is we see her struggle. We see her flaws. She sometimes gets beaten. But when she gets stronger and perseveres, it's because she's earned it and it feels rewarding to watch. Similarly, we see Rukia's flaws and struggles. And we see she's a capable fighter and trains to become stronger, so that when she kicks ass it feels earned as well.
@@TeaTimeTable she was naive, childish, and rude at the beginning and then gradually turned into a mature woman with more developed feminine traits. She is grown as a woman, not just by strength.
@@Zell93Drk Naive in terms of the plot of the story and Aizens behind the scenes BS perhaps, but when dealing with a "Brat" like ichigo who wouldn't be pissed off Childish? - hardly considering she geniuinely cares about the spirits in the town and protecting this Random kids family. Rude? - Debatable ichigo started it first when he kicked her and continued to have a poor piss attitude about the situation "HE" put them in. She was always a good character with the little backstory we got from flashbacks of her shes a good person overall but her character is treated horrendously.
Somewhere we must also Accept that we never actually Understood Orihime either, She is essentially a very strong Female in her own way. Hell I am surprised how well Kubo can Write Female Characters, almost all feel like Real people even those that don’t massively contribute in the Story, like ikumi Ichigo’s Boss and his Sisters, they are soo understanding when they are on Screen and don’t just feel formulaic perfect girls but rather ladies with their own lil side stories. We can even argue that bleach side stories manga would be much loved by Fans, cuz there are many stories that could be explored even more, even though they don’t necessarily contribute much to Main narrative of Story. I have personally seen many bleach haters ( or noobs) actually complaining _“Where is his/her story, why not involve them more and why this Character got sidelined, did Kubo forget, oh he’s such a bad Writer!”_ blah blah 😅, Don’t tell me you guys can’t see their Frustration and Dissatisfaction, They aren’t mad about the serie being Bad, infact they loved it soo much that (Every Character), they want more from other characters, even if the main narrative gets delayed or pushed aside entirely, you guys won’t believe some people are fan of ‘Yumichika’[kenpachi’s squad 11; 5th seat] yeah that weird eyebrow beauty guy, who faked his shikai for the longest.😅 The most haters are cute cuz they just loved bleach way too much and didn’t get enough from Their favs rather than complaining about their bad writing, infact they vent their frustration over few of main cast like Ichigo, Orihime, Aizen, uryu … etc as badly written characters, they are too emo lol
Amen! Orihime is immensely strong because despite lacking the offensive powers everyone else has, she is an emotional and supportive figure in their lives. She helped Ichigo gather the courage to save Rukia. She is the one who faces immense horrors of life and is still capable of love. On paper her firepower has immense potential yet her ability to heal and protect are what she most develops
@@qorv4973 Yeah exactly, She is a very admirable character for her choices in life, It's the same reason i only and only respect Kakashi, Cuz apart from him not 1 character in Naruto anime (except prolly Shikamaru & kabuto) is grounded in reality, and make actively realistic and ofc mature choices to develop into best version of themselves. The super op Orihime actively choses to be the Sheilded Healer, over a brute, and grows to accept that role more and more, only discribes what's she from inside, ...a tree which can shade anything and everything if she wants. That's the real meaning of Feminine Energy, All embracing, Compassionate, Caregiver, But in fights of life, an Absolute courageous scafolding to repel/face the Bads of this world for their loved ones.
Yumichika had so much potential as a character . He basically lies to keep his friends but this plot never goes anywhere. The problem with Bleach is too many characters and not enough development.
Orihime 's reputation was ruined because of the arrancar saga . Ulquirra destroyed Ichigo and her mentally but Ichigo had his cameback against Aizen and Grimjow. I actually like Orihime thus it is really sad to see fans slandering her like that
What makes the Bleach girls unique in their own way, even tho they don't have that much screentime or fights compared to the guys, is , for me at least, that you can see they are genuinely important for the people around them, and even changed them, just ask Renji,Isshin, Ichigo, Byakuya, Hitsugaya, Gin, Etc. All of them were willing to sacrifice everything for a particular girl. Even with the villains, in a more toxic way, like Nell, whom Nnoitra envied to the bones or Orihime and Ulquiorra.
They just don’t make female characters like how they did in the 2000s/90s. Kagura from Gintama, Keiko from YYH, Rukia from Bleach, Robin from One Piece etc… new gens aren’t cut from the same cloth
I got a story in mind about a female Japanese highschooler trying to live her life like a samurai and help people, but ends up joining a delinquent gang. The term for Japanese female delinquents, Sukeban, roughly translates to "girl boss", so it's understandable that the deck is stacked against me right from the get go. But I want to do what I can to make her compelling, like her finding comfort in the samurai culture, to the point where any insult to that culture will send her into a rage, and her suffering a panic attack whenever she's without something she can wield like a katana. She also hates being seen as a delinquent at first, but gradually warms up to them upon learning their obsession with honor, something she can relate to. Do any of you have any pointers on how to further develop her?
two of my favourite characters are women Rukia being one of them. You've explained why she and Artoria Pendragon are my favourite female characters in fiction as a whole, perfectly. they're actually flawed, I'd honestly say Artoria is my favourite character of all time, while Rukia is up there. Well done, this analysis actually explained what made a good character (Unlike the feminists glazing the modern females cuz perfection idk 😭)
Bro I dunno you but I do think a lot of writers should take note from kinoko nasu, nasu has a lot of great female characers saber(artoria),rin, sakura, aoko, touko, and shiki ryougi.
@@ciaraMaeGatchalian yeah sory bout that but I heard that lb6 in fgo have well developed characters too. Tsiah IV made a video on this one a while back.
gal gadot wonder woman is also a really good example of a actual strong female charcater, not only is she obviously strong but she is compassionate, loving, nurturing, emotional even vulnerable all while being a strong warrior doing whatever it takes to help the earth and human beings
i clicked on this video thinking you were about to dis Rukia, which I was pretty angry about. But I am happy to realize that you did the opposite. Best video I've seen today for
The most important part is not to get too lost in making a strong female character, it’s about making a compelling *character*. There are always going to be struggles and trials unique to men and women, but the most important role a character plays in storytelling is to actually learn something in their journey
@@crasy9182 I mean, that's also the game God of War, which still sells like hotcakes. The reason being that a tough guy is seen as cool and peak, while a tough woman is seen as woke and pandering.
Rukiya stands miles ahead from modern female characters in anime like Maki or Mikasa whose entire thing is "I am physically strong" and that's literally it. No semblance of good character writing or development, just physical strength
HAHAHAHAHAHA Mikasa and Maki are much more than this, but i agree i prefer Rukia. but dont generalize Anime females with this bulshit Hollywood and western media tries push. modern anime has alot amazing female: Frieren, Fern,(the entire cast tho),Noelle, and a chunk cast female in Black Clover,MaoMao,Fuko of Undead Unluck, Tatsumaki,Fubuki,Marin Kitagawa, Marcille,Vladilena Milize, and etc
Ehh I think the title is a huge generalization. You've read/watched a couple series from recent times where the female mc is overpowered so she & all of modern female characters in general is "garbage " ? Sometimes people just like OP characters. Not everyone got time or feel like watching another long tedious training arc for a character to grow stronger. Thats why Modern Day Power Fantasy Series like Medaka Box, One Punch Man,etc. are popular. It's one of the reasons why Isekai series became so popular. You'll have a male or female mc get transported somewhere, be granted with end game level power ups & they go ham. If that's not your cup of tea then fine but there's clearly a market for it & it's not dying anytime soon.
THANK YOU!!! The issue with videos like this is that it's full of uninformed people on both sides fighting a "West vs East Asia" culture war. They obviously think that everything made in the West is "too woke" and think of East Asia as their beacon of white supremacy. Which is ironic AF btw. They watched a few Western movies, shows, and played some games, and deemed them all woke. They view East Asia as anti-woke. It's lacking nuance. First, Japan was actually ahead of the curve for woke content. Japan had an OP woman who dressed as a man in the 50s (hello Princess Knight). Japan had a manga where a trans man was the main character (hello Claudine). Japan had stories with BL (Kaze to Ki no Uta) and GL (Couple of the White Room) in the 70s. Japan had a story where the female character was cocky and arrogant AF in the 60s (hello Attack No 1). Japan had a series in the 90s where two lesbians destroyed patriarchy and was a major influence for Steven Universe (hello Revolutionary Girl Utena). And there are Western shows/games that aren't woke or even talk about politics. Surreal Estate, Act Your Age, Deadboy Detectives, The Witcher, Sweet Magnolias, Abbott Elementary, Stranger Things, Money Heist, etc. Sweet Magnolias actually got criticized for *not* talking about race. Social media tried to pressure Abbott Elementary into doing episodes that portrayed certain topics and Quinta, the creator of the show, doubled down and said that she's not doing anything that social media tells her to do. She even told them no when they told her to do an episode about school shootings. She said that she wanted her show to be funny and lighthearted. The school version of The Office (which is an obvious influence). The Boys is literally popular with the anti-woke crowd. Your Honor is from the point of view of Liberals and portrays them as not good people. Even if the liberal mayor and judge put on the facade of being good, they ultimately choose to save their own skin when the going gets tough. One of the liberals is a corrupt black mayor who makes a deal with drug dealers and corrupt cops. Then again, the anti-woke would also get sensitive because it shows a more conservative mafia family, even if they do try to have a good partnership with the liberal mayor for their own gains, as morally corrupt as well. And I know that I'm not naming every show. I mostly tend to watch shows with black characters, and I like having female characters. I also watch African shows, which I know the anti-woke is going to avoid like the plague.
I don't disagree with most of this video, but Rukia tends to always have a story that ends with "and she was saved by ___". With Kaien, she was saved by Ukitake and Kaien. With Aaroniero and Zommari it was Byakuya. With Aizen she was saved by Ichigo. In the Fullbringer arc she was the only Soul Reaper to lose, so she was practically saved by Ichigo winning. With As Nodt it was Byakuya again. While she's certainly strong she never seems to have the agency to handle a situation on her own despite her strength and ability to win. It's character growth without much payoff. Also, your video seems to depict strength in a negative light. You highlighted bad "woke girlboss" characters because that served your point, but failed to mention many strong characters that do have relatability or growth. Frieren is a great example of this. She is nearly the strongest being in that manga, yet most of the series is about her other glaring flaw as a person. It's about interpersonal relationships, learning empathy, and enjoying smaller details in day to day life rather than living for the highlight of a year or a decade. Her strength is nearly seen as a flaw, since it enables her apathetic behavior, yet it's also seen as a positive when she uses it correctly. I'd even argue that Frieren is a better example than Rukia since she's more similar to the Mary Sues you mentioned in terms of her placement in her story. If you haven't seen the anime I recommend it. She's one of the best written female mcs or female characters in general in recent anime, and has certainly received that praise everywhere. I mean, the anime is #1 on the top two anime tracking sites, trended internationally, and received a lot of praise and recognition in Japan. So it just seems like a missed opportunity that we're highlighting the worst of the worst "strong woke girlboss mcs" and not anything that is demonstrably good or even passable.
Nah rukia is genuinely a bad character i can name 60 different better female characters makima, Kushidna etc,, Rukia has barely anything of note to her character.
1:05 Wasn’t Captain Marvel literally trained to be a soldier of course she’s gonna have a stronger mentality then most characters Most of the male characters were never trained to be warriors besides Captain America, Thor, and Doctor Strange, with the only difference is, she seems to be more matured than most of them except for Doctor Strange and for the other characters, mostly all of them are just children or random people off the side of the street or maybe rich people who have never been in a fight before who got a superpowers by chance and never had any training whatsoever they just figured it out somehow.
I mean, movie Captain Marvel is not well written. Though people act like her and Rey are every Hollywood movie ever released. They're whining over a few movies.
And even if Maki is good, she unironically is everything that the anti-woke should claim to hate. Her entire character is slaughtering the misogynists in her clan and being better than Naoya (a man). Though because she's from an anime, the anti-woke never slander her. Almost like the anti-woke are merely running an agenda.
Rukia is a great example of a female character in Shonen, Jojo's bizarre adventure has some good female characters too with Trish Una, Jolyne Kujo, Hot Pants and Yashuo. Granted not all of jojo's women are great but there are some stand out gems from among Jojo's female cast.
Great video An example of incredible female character actually introduced as flawless and invincible is Teresa from Claymore Also, one of the greatest ever female character is, imo, Yuna from ffx. Shes so well written it would be criminal to compare her to the like of Rey
@queenlolo1384 ah yes Yuna from the "shonen anime" FFX, sure. And Teresa come from a manga, not an anime (there is an anime Claymore but its just an adaptation). Btw there is no "shonen anime". A shonen can only be a manga You for sure seem to know what youre talking about
@@tartopomme8946 I know what I'm talking about. The problem is that the anti-woke anti-West people such as yourself don't know anything. Y'all constantly project a white supremacist anti-woke paradise onto Japan, when that's far from reality.
That's Bleach Bestie. And that's not even counting that Rukia can be the "invincible" type of female character via her true Sode no Shirayuki. You get the best of both worlds in a way.
I love Rukia, and I get your point but you are comparing 2 movie characters that only had 1-3 movies of time to build their character and story. I agree they were not written well, but to compare them to Rukia, who is in an anime that has nearly 400 episodes of time to develop her as a character and give her multiple story lines and relationships focused on building her up as a character... when you have time like that you can focus on character and story far better than a movie... It would be better to compare to other movies characters that also only had 1-3 movies to accomplish depth of character to prove that it can be done well even with limited time. If you want to compare Rukia, compare her to other characters from long running series that don't have the depth and complexity or that weren't done as well, in your opinion.
Honestly the only SJ "New Gen" that I have seen that does actual amazing female characters is Undead Unluck. I haven't read Akanebanashi so I cannot comment on that, but Fuuko is probably one of my favourite characters period.
I think Noelle Silva is another Female character that developed well, she went from being a weakling who couldn’t even aim at her targets accurately to beating her older brother Solid (Who has always mocked her growing up) that was the part when I feel like she has grown.
I will say that a female character can even be OP as long as she is well written, complex, and isn't invincible to literally everything (unless it is a sort of Saitama sort of comedy). Beatrix Kiddo in Kill Bill is a badass but she faces enough challenges and works for her skills that they are warranted and we can root for her. Can't stand modern female characters for all the reasons you mentioned. It can be done, but no one is doing ti right
If you watch Gintama, almost all of the female characters are well written. A good example is Tsukuyo. Right from her introduction into the Yoshiwara arc, her ranking skyrocketed in the anime because of how unique she was written.
Out of the anime/manga that I've watched/read, the best female characters are - as follows (from the top of my head): -Senjumaru Shutara (Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Cours 2-3) -Tsunade Senju (Naruto Part I-II) -Nico Robin (One Piece) -Android 18 (Dragon Ball Z-Dragon Ball Super) -Mikasa Ackerman (Attack on Titan) -Hange Zoë (Attack on Titan) -Annie Leonhart (Attack on Titan) -Gabi (Attack on Titan) -Yoruichi Shihōin (Bleach-Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Cours 1-3) -Kale/Caulifla/Kefla (Dragon Ball Super) -Kanao Tsuyuri (Demon Slayer) -Nezuko Kamado (Demon Slayer) These characters are not only strong, but also well written, and well developed. They also have fantastic moments in their respective series - as listed: -Senjumaru unleashing her surprising Bankai on the Schutzstaffel and completely demolishing all of them single-handedly -Tsunade being able to surprise Madara Uchiha himself by breaking his Susano'o Ribcage and surviving his attacks - comparing her to Hashirama himself -Nico Robin unleashing her surprising Demonio Fleur on Black Maria and completely demolishing her single-handedly -Android 18 showcasing her strength, effectiveness, and skill on par with Android 17 in the Tournament of Power -Mikasa annihilating the Jaegerists brutally - one after the other, in an extremely cool and breathtaking way -Hange sacrificing her life to save "The Alliance" of the Warriors from Marley and the remaining Scout Regiment by taking on the entire Rumbling by herself -Annie battling the past titan-shifters from previous generations to save her current ally and previous enemy - Mikasa -Gabi's character development from battling the Scout Regiment to helping them - even killing a past & important titan-shifter with unparalleled aiming -Yoruichi using her most powerful Shunko to battle and temporarily overpower Askin in a 1-on-1 -All three of these Saiyans unleashing their respective Super Saiyan states and overpowering Goku - even keeping up with UI Goku in combat -Kanao unleashing the final form of her breathing style - Vermillion Eye, allowing her to keep up with, and temporarily overpower Douma & even Muzan in combat -Nezuko unleashing her combat strength for the first time against Daki, completely overpowering the Upper Moon in moments with ease
She didn’t have to be a big breasted bimbo to do it either
Based Rukia enjoyer
U mean ruki ruki?
I’ve always said Rukia might be the best written Shonen female
Character she not their for fan service or to be the MC’s love interest she is an actual character with great character writing development and power progression she started off as a 3rd seat by the end of the series she is a captain her dynamic with characters like Ichigo, Renji, Orihime, Byakuya, and Kaein are all amazing as well
She was not a 3rd seat.
@@dele6230 imo i believe that rukia is amazingly written and is def not a damsel in distress
Also one of my favorites, for sure
Shes also my favorite character and yes she contributes to Ichigo's mental state alot aside from that though the treatment of her throughout the story has been terrible -
from losing her powers, the Execution, Always struggling in a fight even though shes a prodigy, Always bloody and stabbed, half the time shes just completely absent, gets one shining moment with Bankai then thrown to the side again.
The way BLEACH made Unohana proves this point. She's part of both a monster and a loving mother but she's not both at the same time. She's the most extreme example from Bleach but Rukia fits this video better indeed.
I hate how despite that she is still called useless by some people.
Probably cause she got tossed around for the first bit of the series with almost dying episode one and almost being executed
You're probably talking more about Orihime. A lot of people needlessly hate Orihime despite her having an amazing characterization and importance to the story.
Simply not true Bleach enjoyers
@@noks234Bro really said that Erza is a character with absolutely no writring 2.0 only because she wins her fights 😂
@@noks234 I see you only saw her introduction arc. SAD.
I mean, Kubo considered Rukia to be the main character, until Ichigo was created.
Unlike most girls in Bleach, Rukia looks more like regular girl, yet her personality and quirks are unmatched by any other female in the series. She's one of the reasons why i liked this anime in the first place

Orihime growing to be useful is something only Kubo can pull off lol

ok for a sec i though u were calling rukia horrible and i came to fight, but I was so wrong.
THE POWER OF CLICKBAIT lol
@@BodylessAndNowhere I finished the whole series.tybw and fullbringer arc included.
Then you haven't watched much anime...
Rukia always has been one of the greatest, if not the greatest, female character in Shonen.
Aside trio tactic, a token girl can also be generated for:
a) mc love interest/ fangirl even when the anime doesnt need it (death note author himself confirmed his unwillingness to have misa in the story)
b) "plot device" - either a tool for another charac's development/coolness, or an easy retconn/recovery solution for a team. Some have no identity without the characs they're attached to (tsumiki for megumi, Momo for Nobara, shoko as she is, utahime for gojo, even nobara if u read the manga)
c) all ideas no code: starts of with an interesting concept, author never explores that and throws her into thd filler void, Ws only against mob npcs and no real respectful opponent, or killed off. Best recent example is you guessed it, Yuki from jjk again.
Its kinda funny how im using all examples from jjk that was previously praised for its female roster, and even funnier when jjk was meant to be inspired from bleach. Lets see what the og did 15 yrs ago that the new shonen couldnt replicate:
Rukia - not a love interest of mc, is the plot driver instead of a plot device (her actions led to series of consequences and she is the central plot instead of a tagger), least fanservice girl of the series, not loud or overly tomboyish to be seen as one of da bois, has Ws against other interesting ppl, has someone else crushing for her first before she crushed on anyone (shonen likes to make girls fall first to prop up a guy, rukia had it he other way around).
Rukia is a beast bro...
That's not even counting how in true Sode no Shirayuki, she is the "invincible" female character who does not need to struggle while we have an actual character.
Cold-Blooded on ALL ACCOUNTS with that power!
Mythical video pull, you earned my subscription
Thanks, bro! 😁✌
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a Western show, so if goes against his agenda. Of course he won't mention it
Its the same as male heroes. Itchigo struggels and fails till ge overcomes his enemies by refining his skills
Rukia's growth make a grown man cry 🥹 she is my best female character! ❤️
What growth? She barely had screentime and only had like 2 actual good moments through the series for herself.
@@TeaTimeTable she was naive, childish, and rude at the beginning and then gradually turned into a mature woman with more developed feminine traits. She is grown as a woman, not just by strength.
@@Zell93Drk Naive in terms of the plot of the story and Aizens behind the scenes BS perhaps, but when dealing with a "Brat" like ichigo who wouldn't be pissed off
Childish?
I have personally seen many bleach haters ( or noobs) actually complaining _“Where is his/her story, why not involve them more and why this Character got sidelined, did Kubo forget, oh he’s such a bad Writer!”_ blah blah 😅,
Don’t tell me you guys can’t see their Frustration and Dissatisfaction, They aren’t mad about the serie being Bad, infact they loved it soo much that (Every Character), they want more from other characters, even if the main narrative gets delayed or pushed aside entirely,
you guys won’t believe some people are fan of ‘Yumichika’[kenpachi’s squad 11; 5th seat] yeah that weird eyebrow beauty guy, who faked his shikai for the longest.😅
The most haters are cute cuz they just loved bleach way too much and didn’t get enough from Their favs rather than complaining about their bad writing, infact they vent their frustration over few of main cast like Ichigo, Orihime, Aizen, uryu … etc as badly written characters, they are too emo lol
I don't get the hate for Orihime, I like her

Of course it's Japanese...
And also... There's a show called Sukeban Deka. Might want to watch that or read the manga...

The most important part is not to get too lost in making a strong female character, it’s about making a compelling *character*. Because they don't really watch many things. Only ultra mainstream things, and they think they know everything.
Honestly, the only version of modern live action female hero i like is Wanda, they did her character mostly right.

New subscriber, great video. Look forward to the next one!
Thanks, man! I appreciate it 😁😁
Bro the video was so good I couldn't believe you had only 100 subs. Carry on man you gained another subscriber
Thanks, mate! ✌
Byakuya wasn't there for her fight with Aaroniero
@@adaurysantos he still saved her from death. Zommari pulled up and was about to finish her off
@@adaurysantos I combined Zommari and Aaroniero because they both contributed, but in either case Byakuya had to save her.
She became a captain at the end
No one saved her by Aeroniero, bye.
Great video and analysis. I'm sharing this. You got new subscriber!
I don't think I'll be able to frogive the Rings of Power and what they did to Galadriel's character
Me neither, my friend.
For me it's Rin and Saber from Fate series
Based + bro fell off but got up + FAX
Rukia is best girl
ZANPAKUTO not zampakuto 😭
but awesome video rukia best girl 🗿🔥
“It’s bad”
Hehe yeah she is bad…
Dammit I might’ve proved bros point…
4:03 - ok no she only accepted the rules to kill her because she herself wanted to die because of the guilt she carries
Nah rukia is genuinely a bad character i can name 60 different better female characters makima, Kushidna etc,, Rukia has barely anything of note to her character.
Rukia isn't bad, but she's definitely not the best. She's over hyped by people who just watch ultra mainstream Shonen anime.
how the fuck do you only have 213 subs? watching this i thought it will be atleast in the ten thousands....... god ur underrated as hell
Thanks, man! That's very nice of you 😊
1:05 Wasn’t Captain Marvel literally trained to be a soldier of course she’s gonna have a stronger mentality then most characters Most of the male characters were never trained to be warriors besides Captain America, Thor, and Doctor Strange, with the only difference is, she seems to be more matured than most of them except for Doctor Strange and for the other characters, mostly all of them are just children or random people off the side of the street or maybe rich people who have never been in a fight before who got a superpowers by chance and never had any training whatsoever they just figured it out somehow.
I mean, movie Captain Marvel is not well written. Though people act like her and Rey are every Hollywood movie ever released. They're whining over a few movies.
@ fr bro people only know how to complain
can you make another video on rukia
Rukia is best ❤
Omg u are so underratted. This video is so well put together
Thanks, mate! 😁
Not really
Don't know how the hell i got recommended a video of a 192 sub channel but after watching 2 videos it just became 193
Expect this. Jjk has a good written females too!
Lol, no. Only Maki is good
And even if Maki is good, she unironically is everything that the anti-woke should claim to hate.
Rukia is one of the greatest main heroines in anime and yes she's a better character than Sakura
I hate that the preview on mobile cuts off the title right before the y in Analysis.
LMAO 🤣
Rukia is best fictional girl ever, in all ways. W vid btw
Prime Arcee?
@@grandcanyon-d4d who's that?
Lol, no
Bro I agree with everything except its not "zampakuto" but "ZaNpakuto"
Ops, my bad
Great video
An example of incredible female character actually introduced as flawless and invincible is Teresa from Claymore
Also, one of the greatest ever female character is, imo, Yuna from ffx. Shes so well written it would be criminal to compare her to the like of Rey
There's plenty of well written female characters in all media. In the West, in Africa, in Asia, etc. Y'all just simply only care for Shonen anime
@queenlolo1384 ah yes Yuna from the "shonen anime" FFX, sure.
And Teresa come from a manga, not an anime (there is an anime Claymore but its just an adaptation).
Btw there is no "shonen anime". A shonen can only be a manga
You for sure seem to know what youre talking about
@@tartopomme8946 I know what I'm talking about. The problem is that the anti-woke anti-West people such as yourself don't know anything.
Y'all constantly project a white supremacist anti-woke paradise onto Japan, when that's far from reality.
Nelliel tu Odelschwanck is proof female character can be OP and still maintain very high level of complexity. The audience noticed and loved that.
Rukia is an inspiration
Bleach has better female characters than Jujutsu Kaisen
That's Bleach Bestie.
And that's not even counting that Rukia can be the "invincible" type of female character via her true Sode no Shirayuki.
You get the best of both worlds in a way.
Rukia Kuchiki and Erza Scarlet are the benchmerk of female characters in anime. Those two have been and will always be my favourites!
I love Erza, she's a pretty good character
Aizen is the exception
Fuuko Izumo in Undead Unluck is the best female protagonist i've ever seen
Honestly the only SJ "New Gen" that I have seen that does actual amazing female characters is Undead Unluck.
I haven't read Akanebanashi so I cannot comment on that, but Fuuko is probably one of my favourite characters period.
I think Noelle Silva is another Female character that developed well, she went from being a weakling who couldn’t even aim at her targets accurately to beating her older brother Solid (Who has always mocked her growing up) that was the part when I feel like she has grown.
There's a lot of examples.
It can be done, but no one is doing ti right
You mean you can't stand the modern female characters from a few properties
Now you said it bro !
It takes guts to say the right things these days
Orientais estao fazendo um otimo trabalho com personagens femininas. Estou assistindo dan da dan e to comoletamente apaixonado pela momo ayase
My top female character in Bleach is Nemu.
🐐
100% correct.
If you watch Gintama, almost all of the female characters are well written. A good example is Tsukuyo. Right from her introduction into the Yoshiwara arc, her ranking skyrocketed in the anime because of how unique she was written.
The emperor genetically engineered ray to be super
Hello why do you not have a million subs i just realised??? Nah mythical fyp pull
Out of the anime/manga that I've watched/read, the best female characters are - as follows (from the top of my head):
-Senjumaru Shutara (Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Cours 2-3)
-Tsunade Senju (Naruto Part I-II)
-Nico Robin (One Piece)
-Android 18 (Dragon Ball Z-Dragon Ball Super)
-Mikasa Ackerman (Attack on Titan)
-Hange Zoë (Attack on Titan)
-Annie Leonhart (Attack on Titan)
-Gabi (Attack on Titan)
-Yoruichi Shihōin (Bleach-Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Cours 1-3)
-Kale/Caulifla/Kefla (Dragon Ball Super)
-Kanao Tsuyuri (Demon Slayer)
-Nezuko Kamado (Demon Slayer)
These characters are not only strong, but also well written, and well developed. They also have fantastic moments in their respective series - as listed:
-Senjumaru unleashing her surprising Bankai on the Schutzstaffel and completely demolishing all of them single-handedly
-Tsunade being able to surprise Madara Uchiha himself by breaking his Susano'o Ribcage and surviving his attacks - comparing her to Hashirama himself
-Nico Robin unleashing her surprising Demonio Fleur on Black Maria and completely demolishing her single-handedly
-Android 18 showcasing her strength, effectiveness, and skill on par with Android 17 in the Tournament of Power
-Mikasa annihilating the Jaegerists brutally - one after the other, in an extremely cool and breathtaking way
-Hange sacrificing her life to save "The Alliance" of the Warriors from Marley and the remaining Scout Regiment by taking on the entire Rumbling by herself
-Annie battling the past titan-shifters from previous generations to save her current ally and previous enemy - Mikasa
-Gabi's character development from battling the Scout Regiment to helping them - even killing a past & important titan-shifter with unparalleled aiming
-Yoruichi using her most powerful Shunko to battle and temporarily overpower Askin in a 1-on-1
-All three of these Saiyans unleashing their respective Super Saiyan states and overpowering Goku - even keeping up with UI Goku in combat
-Kanao unleashing the final form of her breathing style - Vermillion Eye, allowing her to keep up with, and temporarily overpower Douma & even Muzan in combat
-Nezuko unleashing her combat strength for the first time against Daki, completely overpowering the Upper Moon in moments with ease
No way you just said kale and caulifla bro smh…… 🤦🏾♂️ and just when I was about to say your list was actually good lmao.
Senjumaru is bland, what is she even doing here
Nezuko developped ? Bye.
@@nahom5137 shes cool. thats it. and thats good enough for me.
@@keiv2211 kale in the manga is tuff and if you don't like caulifla... i dont know what to tell you
Crazy how the best modern female shonen protagonist to date was nobara and she kinda got cut from 70% of the series
No
Rukia is c tier she is mid
rukia was lt. level from the start, only held back by her brother's concern
so she was powerful, just not enough to deal with most arrancar
Probably should've used a live action character to compare with those other movies instead of an Anime. Rukia is great though.
He won't use a Western movie because it'll go against his agenda.
