We always tip a little something extra. Yes, I've found the service is much better. Pre-cruise videos are a must. I always watch those that give a layout of the ship.

I’m a first time 7 day cruiser to Alaska on celebrity and you should check the amount of time the ship is in each port so you can plan how much time you have to do the things you want to see or do. Also arrival time at port is not always the time you’re able to leave the ship to start exploring a town. Ships may have to get clearance at each port which may take 30 minutes before passengers can disembark. So reserve a land or whale watching tour time with that in mind. Also you need to back on board at least 30 minutes before the time the ship is scheduled to leave that port. Hope this helps other first timers. I cruise in May 2024 and am very excited to visit our last frontier!

Don’t let the cruiselines scare you into only booking cruiseline excursions. I’ve done lots of both. I’ve only had one bad private excursion and one good cruiseline one.

We just got back from our first cruise, all your tips are spot on. I took more than 2 swimsuits and was glad i did. Always had a dry one like you said, but also, think about needing one for the thermal spa if you do that, plus varying the tan lines 😊 and having variety in your pictures not always being in the same suit.

      Thank you!
As for the water- it depends on your cruise line. You have to look at what’s included in the specific drink package you have.

Yes you can! When you get to the ship, you’ll be able to hand them off to porters who will make sure they’re delivered to your cabin.
Just be sure to print off the luggage tags with your cruise documents and attach them to your luggage on the morning of your cruise

We are going to Scotland and Ireland what kind of money do we take for tips lbs of us and on ship too

Honest, any of the 3 will work. $ £ € . Depending on where I'm traveling from I use the cash from there. Live in Ireland and flew to Rome for a transatlantic cruise to NY so I had Euros on me. When I left from NY I had USD and used that. On a ship out of Liverpool to Iceland I had Pounds and used those.
Basically, tips to your steward and extra bar tips can be any of those if you are traveling to or from the UK, EU and US.
      Have fun 😊

Please STOP double tipping! If you’ve paid for a package, extra tipping should not be necessary. Good service shouldn’t be dependent on you giving the bar tender $20. If everyone quit doing this, the bar tenders, etc. on board would stop expecting it.
