Hey! I've heard that with the hu-850, the wiring goes FROM the amp to the speakers, but in the 650 it goes from the head unit. So if you would install this just like you did, don't you need to do all the speaker wiring from the amplifier?
This is why the harness is critical, it piggybacks the speaker connector to the amp and the signal is sent to the amp from the 850 via the small black connector. On the back of the 650 you will find a green and gray connector, on the 850 it is just the green connector. That gray connector is what is piggybacked to the amp
@@martondoboroczky6958 theirs an 8 pin and a 6 pin connector on the back of the 850, they use one or the other. I installed one of those Bluetooth adapters and it connected to the other one the amp wasn’t connected to
@@THSeitz22 thanks man!! 😁 Do you know if the amplifier works with the hu650 or no? I could buy all the premium speakers with the amp, but I have the 650, can't find a 850 yet.
Thank for video. With the upgrade to 850 does Parking sensors and steering wheel volume keys still work? Most concern about loosing these features when upgrading.
I have a no sound issue from my HU 850 unit, which came with my car, a 2006 s60 t5. No sound from the center speaker, which i understand is powered by the head unit itself. Is there a problem with the head unit, or the amp?
@ that is what I would do, and maybe test the center speaker is working as well. Aftermarket head units usually mean losing the center speaker sound all together
Does not require upgrading the door speakers, though it would help improve the sound. In the description I advise I plan on swapping the door speakers with 6.5 aftermarket speakers
@@THSeitz22 found one in canada on ebay for about $35. Now I cannot find the power for the amp under my seat. Unless it’s buried under the carpet it’s not there. Gonna have to remove the seat to check.
Hi! Happy new year everyone! I'm interested in upgrading the sound system from my first car (S60 2002) which has an amplifier, HU-803, and speakers with blue stickers to a new car which I recently purchased (S60 2009) and there is HU-650, without an amplifier and speakers with white stickers. Can I replace the speakers with blue stickers and put an amplifier, but do not change the radio. Will it all work? Has anyone had any experience with this? I hope I don't have to buy an HU-850 to hook up an amplifier :)
volvo s60 2.5t awd 2004 here I have the hu-603 as well. interestingly enough I have the premium sound speakers which include every speaker that the premium version has except it does not include the upgraded stereo (hu-803) What we're doing is basically buying the 803 stereo and buying a volvo 2006 amp and Doing what this tutorial is basically telling us. We’ll let you know how it goes. ideally I'd like the amp that is going to go with it however it seems too pricey compared to what we can get on facebook
I have a question you might not know the answer to. #1 honestly how much better does it sound, and #2 with the cheap chinese bluetooth things how good of a quality is the bluetooth? Does it compare to a pretty average aftermarket setup with say a kenwood deck or a pioneer deck? and how is the bass? and #2 the important question, do you know how adding a sub to the factory radio would work?
#1: much better with the pro logic surround sound, obviously would be even better with upgraded door speakers as well. #2: get a grom, Bluetooth audio was good but voice calls were horrible as they could not hear me well. I had a Kenwood in my S60R and while I liked it I prefer the OEM look and simplicity. Bass is comparable. #3: easy, use a LOC device to tap in the rear speakers. Then you just connect your RCA’s from the LOC to your amp, and run the power wire and ground right there to the battery in the trunk. KnuKonceptz.com offers quality OFC wiring that you can buy per foot (most of the kits are made to run all the way from the engine to the trunk. I also recommend running the amps remote wiring to an on and off rocker switch to the console, this way it’s not hitting all the time when you don’t want it to

Under front passenger seat, close to the cable for the seat

Do you have a link for the wire harness
No, but I would grab one off eBay or from a part out
There is no mention of upgrading the existing speakers. Maybe you already had them? The premium requires different door panels I believe.

I cant find the wiring harness for a decent price anywhere.
