Your video is very good. I particularly liked your admission that your first attempt did not work and then when you had ''another opportunity to forget the cable relief - and I immediately used it''. My life summed up in a sentence. Very informative, funny and well presented video.
Yeah, having electronics knowledge at so high level is so fucking useful and helpful in life and all kid of electronic devices resurection... I wish learn electronic at enginner level but i am lazy and I don't have that much self-denial to approach that.
This is awesome. I did something less elegant recently, however, like many automotive projects I end up making 2000 trips to my car, or dragging all my test gear into the vehicle. Ultimately the latter always ends up happening :) Great job!
Fun. I started watching your channel with the PPM stuff, so it's kinda cool to see that you were there 7 years ago. I've added a similar CD-changer emulator to my 2000 VW Golf. It uses a simpler protocol, that was well documented; I didn't bother doing the track display, though, but went with a cheap Aliexpress BT dongle and put everything in the radio well, hidden out of sight. It also produces an occasional beep from the radio even, but that's not nearly as annoying as listening to the radio :)
I've had some problems when using just regular off the shelf 5min epoxy to encapsulate things, the problem is that all epoxies have some shrinkage when they cure, some more, some less, and I may have had some type that shrinks a lot, and it basically tore off something on the pcb, and the project ended up not working after encapsulation, had to redo everything, then used hot glue to spot glue (not fill) larger things down, and everything worked out fine - it was a second frequency receiver for additional remote controls needed for an automatic drive way gate, lives in an non hermetic enclosure, and even without any conformal coating has lasted for 5 years now
Shades of Mr. Carlson's Lab and his Super clean performance cam-engine lope'n Firebird. Just can't leave the cars alone, Marco has gone down that rabbit hole of modification. , These guys are great with all the super easy to understand and funny (in their own way) humor. Thanks for Great videos
Is there a "Slow Play" so we can see how it comes apart, I have a BLACK Face HU-613, and hoping the GRAY face one faceplate can be interchanged easily... there's a GROM Unit on eBay for $132.xx, very similar/ same? as IPD Volvo one, to add an Aux. Input, FYI... would be super Cool to be able to change the TEXT Display tho...
i have a bluetooth dongle that pretends to be a CD Changer but i would prefer to keep it that way since i wanna add Apple CarPlay into the RTI Screen. So how did you spoof it as MD instead of CD Changer?
What does it say when asked what it is for it to know it’s a CD changer? Is there a chance it’s possible to change that around till you find a way to have it display different? Or is it more like a set of responses and the name is determined from a list on the main board?
Hey, I'm thinking of hard wiring an aux input to the tape module. I've seen tutorials doing this with a 3.5 mm cable. My question is, do you think I can pull it offf with an RCA to 3.5 mm? I think it will be easier knowing before hand which channel is left and which is right. Then I can use an extension cable for the 3.5 output to iPhone. Thanks!
Hi! Very nice video! Amazing attention to detail! I am building my PC gaming rig using a Volvo V70 2004 dashboard and center console, my plan is to have the whole dash to light up, do you know which pin controls the lights on the HU-613? Do I need to have it connected to the headlights switch?
I don't see why people call this hacking... If you buy something, I think you should have the rights to modify and share how you modified it with anyone. If it becomes illegal, it would mean that you don't realy own what you buy and that would be pretty sad...
You should look up the definition of hacking. Not all hacking is illegal. You can rip apart your freezer and use the compressor to make a hairdryer, that also would be considered a hack. There is a reason you can type hackerspace in google and find places where everyone calls themselves a hacker without FBI busting your ass.
Does anyone have experience with the Yatour YT-M07-VOLHU? I'd really like be able to play WMAs/MP3s as well as Spotify music from my iPhone through my HU-1205 as well as to connect a USB memory stick with MP3s. I really enjoyed your video @Marco Reps, but I don't have the time or the patience (never mind the equipment) to create what you so beautifully created.
Hi, i trying to make like yours emulator , but i have problem with software i connect to my hu-803 but cant sent sent information abaut track and time i wonder can you shere code ??
I Try too find your profile in google, but it is empty. I'm very interested to build yours emulator. can you share some informations about your emulator?
I would have simply used a cassette adapter with an MP3 player of my choice myself. If I could not find one?, I would have simply made an adapter, but that's just me?...
It's a CD tape. Good luck finding/making an adapter for it. I'm not saying that it's impossible. But it would probably be more expensive than making the tape itself with mp3 support.

I can be so jealous sometimes on people who can do this. Even tough I don't need this, I can really enjoy these kind of videos.
Hey. Nice to see you here. Middle of the night and I watch this.

Hate to tell you your S60 is actually a 2.4ltr turbo 5 cylinder, not a 6 cylinder.
Which is actually a good thing.

Ooh yeah! I love my Volvo S60R 5 cylinder turbo. 🙂🇦🇺
5 cylinder
As a Volvo and Marco Reps fan, I have never clicked on a video faster.
This is awesome. I did something less elegant recently, however, like many automotive projects I end up making 2000 trips to my car, or dragging all my test gear into the vehicle. Ultimately the latter always ends up happening :) Great job!
I think you put the “decorations” for the 3.5mm line and the to radio power on the wrong ends. Is this the mistake you mentioned?

a true work of the early Reps
You sound like you are really enjoying life currently
hey this noise is probably a sound from ID3 tag from your music i had a similar problem in my alpine usb "changer"
Damn that suck

“Bind torture kill” ah a music enthusiast of culture I see
Unless he truly a man of culture and is referring to the BTK killer.

Hello, Would you mind sharing the source? I have been trying to put custom text on my hu but failed. I can see you succeeded.
Many thanks!
Hey @Daniel Wiegert , where you able to solve your problem? I'm playing around with a similar setup and try to avoid using the logic analyzer. :)

i have a bluetooth dongle that pretends to be a CD Changer but i would prefer to keep it that way since i wanna add Apple CarPlay into the RTI Screen. So how did you spoof it as MD instead of CD Changer?
What attention to details! Now that you've got it working perfectly, will you sell one to me?

I want one so bad! How can I buy 2 from you. I have a xc70 and s80

I paid 10 euros for FM transmitter with BT and micro sd card, USB port and USB fast charging port
