    I picked up a pair of RP-160m’s last year and have really been impressed with the build quality and sound. Got them from Crutchfield for $350 pr. I was looking at the RP-600m and decided to go with the 160m because the “difference” isn’t that great to justify the price. And the 160’s are 3lbs heavier than the 600’s. For the money, these are hard to beat and I will give them a 9/10. Money well spent. They are being driven by a Yamaha RX-A1020 and Parasound 2125 v2. Sound sooooo good!
    Great review Tee Jay!!!

      I have the RP 160 m, I really like the lively sound they produce. I also bought the RP 600 based on the great reviews but I really prefer the RP 160m to the RP 600 which is too laid back on the treble for me.

    I just bought these last month for $238 from Newegg. Excellent speakers, especially for the price I paid. I agree that the sensitivity rating is a bit misleading and I would guess they're probably closer to 90db than the advertised 95db.

    I have a pair and found them a little fatiguing with extended playing. I swapped out all the components on the crossover with hight quality parts and it made an incredible difference. A deeper and taller stage and no more siblence..

    Excellent review! I own these excellent speakers, and everything you said about them is accurate. Except I think they are indeed as sensitive as advertised - 96dB. I used to own Klipsch Heresys, which are also rated at 96dB, and these RPs sound exactly as loud as my old Heresys. But smoother, and a bit warmer. I prefer them to the Heresys.

      Klipsch overrates sensitivity so why would you use other Klipsch speakers as a justification of the sensitivity? They have been tested and are more like 90dB sensitive. Tee Jay is absolutely correct here.

A good two week break in with a tube pre-amp into a class D has made a fantastic 2.0 budget audiophile leaning system. Steely Dan is damn fine!!!

      Hey ! I'm about to review the
      1979 Sansui G-8000 with a quick history lession also, and yes the 160m is about 90-91 db efficant your amp the 7 is a very nice 30 pound amp, even though it was rated at 36 watts at 8 ohms it will drive the shit out of those Klispch with no problem at all !! By todays standards your reciever has what i call a big power supply to be 36 watts , this means you will have a full scale power ! Yes it will pair up very nicely !!! That 7 is a keeper what year ? 72-74 ?

    • @bangersmash7646
      @bangersmash7646 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ah awesome! I’m not sure exactly but I’ve read it was made between 72-73. 96db speakers would be the ideal sensitivity to aim for from what I’ve been told, currently running infinity SM-115’s which are 100 dB. Do you think there would be much noticeable difference? I’m pretty new to this world so still trying to find what would be the best fit.

      What i been told , I haven't heard the 600m personally but others who have owned both and took them both apart said the 600m has the same crossover, same woofer same titanium tweeter but the 600m has cooling vents on back of tweeter and they used a lil bit stronger 10 watt resistor to the tweeter instead of a 12 watt resistor on the 160m so the 600m is 2 watts down to the tweeter most say the end result is the 600m is a bit smoother in the top end but the 160m has the angled bottom plate that helps keep the frequency more leveled , they should have used that plate on the 600m also danny at GR-reserch found the phasing of the 600m is drooping off quickly i think this is why .I would like to try those triangles bro3 that Sean at Zero fidelity reviewed
