Could something like this connect through a Denon 3600x pre out? And if so, does older EQ's like this help tweak the sound coming out of a superior processor, or is it just defeat-ist? Sorry, kinda a noob to EQ's. Dig the video and the Sony here is pretty dope.
pre-out should work (if the SDP-D905 is set to the analog input, which can only be done with the matching TA-D905 amplifier). you can tweak the sound, but if it improves is subjective. For me the huge visualization is enough reason to include this in a set. Since it's midi format it's only 35.5 cm wide, so not compatible with the normal 43 cm width.
@@audioidiotscom Sweet. Thank you. I just got a Mackie Quad EQ and have successfully hooked it up to the Denon for visualization (CPU seems stronger than 4k player for spectrum analyzer part), but haven't connected it to the amp yet to check out the sound. Thus I asked out of curiously regarding this unit- 2 birds with one stone. I guess its a relative question. Thanks for your reply.
the SDP-D905 has different inputs, but no input selector. The amplifier (and other components) send a signal on the AU-bus which triggers the SDP-D905 to select the optical or analog input. Use de AU-but to select the input or try both connectors to see which one works.
I have just the amplifier (lbt d905) and this sound processor ,just bought it ,so i tryed nearly everything and the processor still doen t work ,i tryed with my laptop ,maybe i do something wrong ,idk ,don t have the AU BUS cable for it ,another solution?
C501 is responsable for the input selection and the mute switching. Basically you need to ground pin 25 and 32 to unmute the analog path. Then you have to put 5v to pin 29 (it selects between analog and digital input). To do that I unsoldered pins 32 to 25 of IC501. You can probably get away with unsoldering just pin 29 and grounding the rest of them. You will find 5v at pin 33 to connect to pin 29. Once your signal path is set, I measured a -2dB difference at the output. You can compensate that by grounding pin 58, it activates a 2dB boost at the output.
Thanks for the video! Really nice EQ, I just wish the design would be a little more sophisticated...the midi form factor doesn't help either. Shame it's a bus component and not a standalone machine.

Hi, you can simply connect it to the analog CINCH and or optical SPDIF. However, the input is set to one of the two. That can only be controlled via the AU bus. I know it works with a TA-D905 connected to the AU bus, I'm not sure if another Sony amplifier connected to the AU bus would also work. So it shoudl work with just one of the 2 inputs.

i have sony ta-d905 amplifier n stereo tuner st-d905.. but i don't have this processor...sad..

oh, doest it really needs to be connected with the whole system? I was planning to buy it with Technics amplifier
This is stand alone machine of course. Has three toslink input, analog stereo input and output.
Does anyone know how to select input manually, what type of signal need to be inserted to au bus ?? I have is the eq only
You need the TA-D905 amplifier to send the correct signal onto the AU bus. I have not found any other way.
This device decipata lot of heat from the aluminium surface. Not a speciflic location, all sides. Is it ok??
