RX-first Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle
Manufacturer-estimated combined 83 MPGe rating
Standard Luxury grade
Available Traffic Jam Assist*
Starting MSRP of $70,080 (includes Delivery, Processing and Handling Fee)
Available by the end of 2023
As the first luxury brand to offer a hybrid in the segment, it’s only fitting that RX offers a variety of electrified powertrains. Building on the all-new redesign of the iconic crossover vehicle last year, Lexus adds the much-anticipated plug-in hybrid to the electrified lineup. The 2024 Lexus RX 450h+ offers standard luxury elements, intuitive technology, and thoughtful in-cabin features.
RX-First Plug-In Hybrid Powertrain
Powered by a high-capacity lithium-ion battery paired with a 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder engine (shared with NX), the 2024 RX 450h+ hybrid system has a manufacturer-estimated combined 83 MPGe rating. The system provides luxury performance and consistent acceleration off the line with an estimated 6.2 second 0-60 time. The RX 450h+ has a manufacturer-estimated 35-mile driving range rating on electric power only.
The RX450h+ comes equipped with a Level 1 vehicle-charging cable for 120V outlets and all models are equipped with a J1772 (Type 1) socket for at-home and public charging. A high-output, high-efficiency system designed to reduce power loss when converting from AC power to DC power results in faster charging times. Using the maximum charging current of 240V and under ideal conditions, the Lexus RX 450h+ can be fully charged in approximately two-and-a-half hours using the standard 6.6 kW Onboard Charger.
The RX 450h+ utilizes an electronically controlled, full-time AWD system for a confident, sporty driving experience, led by Lexus Driving Signature vehicle fundamentals. Optimizing front and rear torque distribution according to the driving conditions, the driver can control the vehicle as preferred throughout varied road conditions and driving styles.

The Lexus RX is such a great vehicle. It is smooth and has a great design. Even the normal gas RX350 sometimes feels electric with the car's tech.
I can confirm the NX450H+, you can get more than 37 miles advertised by Toyota. We are getting over 40 miles on EV only. Granted we are not driving it like we stole it.
Is it really that impressive to achieve 10-15% better then “average” and brag about it? 37, 38, 42. Who cares about the single digits? 🤷🏻♂️😅
@@I_know_what_im_talking_about Sometimes the average mpg is hard to hit and sometimes like here you can beat it; it's good info for comparison with other vehicles one might buy
I'm sure someone read it and appreciated it
Seems like a factual statement as opposed to bragging. It’s always good to hear from actual owners.
We have the NX plug in, best car we ever had......superb fit and finish, very, very efficient and 75 up to 85 km real world ev range. Lexus stands out regarding their superb build. Far far far better than Bmw, Mercedes, Audi..... . And yes, I know what I m talking about, we had many so called premium cars in our business fleet. The Japanese brands, best of the best.....
Can you use regular gas in the 350h? Love your videos.
They recommend premium, especially for the turbo. But for 350h also.
I’m dying to hear what the supposed IS wagon is gonna sell for and more details. But I’m betting it won’t come to the US.
You think there will be an f sport variant?
A sweet ride in so many ways. Should be the benchmark for the class.
Benchmark!? 😂😂😂😂😆😆🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😆😂😂😂😂😂😆😆🤣🤣🤣
A dressed up rav4 is not I repeat NOT a benchmark
You want a benchmark? Gv80 aviator grand Cherokee 4xe cx90 x5 GLE xc90 are the true luxury options
@@naveenthemachine, the reasoning of a stupid child
Bro stfu god damn get a job or something always in Lexus comments giving alternate “benchmark” cars that would’ve costed as much in repairs as getting a new RX gtfo 💀💀💀💀
@@naveenthemachine
Peasant!!!🤣🤣🤣
@@naveenthemachine dressed up rav 4 would be the nx this is more a dressed up highlander
I get 45 miles range in the city and 35 to 40 miles on the highway, depending on cruising speed.
I bought the gas one same colour that you are show on your show
This will be pretty nice with the used discount.
Unless markups happen.
So 450+, 350h, or 500h? Pros and cons please...would a CPO 500h be good? I'm curious on real world mpg of these vehicles and braking distances, and turning radius. Some models come with summer tires and I don't live in a always warm environment.
In general neither of them.
If ur looking for efficiency, go for the 450h+ but if pricing and availability is a concern the 350h is not a bad choice but just slow, 500h is great but pricey and doesn’t get as good mpg compared to 350h, but if u value driving dynamics then go for the 500h and if u want best efficiency and spend the least on gas then 450h+, and 350h if other options too pricey or lack of availability
@@naveenthemachine korean fan boy .stop trolling
$70k!? I would either go with NX Plug-in or RAV4 Prime
Rav 4 prime is 50k plus 10-20k markup lol :)
@@occckid123 not anymore. Shortage about over
@@theone4042 so it's easy to get a rav 4 prime?
there is info also about the toyota making corolla truck.....maybe revival of subaru baja?
I am about to lease one and Lexus passes on the $7.5k tax credit as lease cash. Add the state incentives on top and effectively it is the same price as the 350h Luxury. Perhaps comparing its price to a base 350h isn't entirely fair since the 450h+ only comes in the Luxury grade?
And I love my RX 350
It’s coming from Ontario canada
Hi Kirk, I'm interested in purchasing the RX350, any advise on which trim is good to buy? Ty
I like the 350h premium and premium plus models
I'm guessing you recommend hybrid but I'm interested in gas
All respect due to the RX and it's massive sales, unassailable engineering and pioneering role in the luxury crossover segment, but after around three decades of witnessing its rise I just can't get excited over an RX. I know. It's not the car's fault. Anyway...excellent coverage as always, Kirk!
A dressed up rav4 is not a luxury car
@@naveenthemachinemore like Highlander
@@chezzyperson3339 highlander Camry rav4 same thing LOL.
The TNGA K platform traces its roots to the Camry.
So calling the RX a dressed up rav4 or dressed up Camry crossover is totally valid
I have a Prime and it’s great. At the RX price point I think it would help to have a battery that is a little bigger and a rear motor that’s a little more powerful to upgrade it a little form what the Toyota has.
@@peterfessier9780 it can’t happen. They’re on the exact same platform
Do you think they will do the grand highlander phev? in 2025 or 26? Unforntuatley I want a toyota/lexus 3 row hybrid phev but it dosent exist yet. Enlighten me if it does lol... in Malta we get and 11k euro grant if we buy a new plugin/ev vehicle.
The fact it appears expensive could also mean slower sales which translate to big dealer discount.
Over here in EU I got mine fully loaded for 85k (incl. 19% tax) after a 8% off from MSRP. I wouldn’t call that a big discount, but I also don‘t think sales are slower than what they aimed for.
Where are they building it? Canada? Japan with the other Primes?
We don't know yet
It's not 70K, maybe. The Canadian Lexus site has it for 63K CDN which is probably around 50K USD
Wrong. 90k on Canadian site
I drive the RX450h now mostly on the highway eh not as good on mileage as I had hoped. A diesel would of been better on the highway.
It would’ve been nice if it got the same setup as the TX 550H+ but oh well😒
I agree. Should have that for 70k+...What's the TX 550h+ then? 80k to fight Volvo XC90?
XC90 Recharge and Aviator Grand Touring are around 70k
@@KirkKreifels it would probably be 73-75
More like 80. The tx is not competitive to any PHEV in the class. It’ll be very very slow and overpriced. It’ll do 0-60 in 7-7.5 seconds
@@naveenthemachinethe dumest comment.
EV? I hope they can sell especially with the current market now. But it’s a Lexus so it would be a good car.
Baffles me how you hesitated to say this was not worth it. 70k STARTING MSRP for a Lexus plug-in is not just a horrible price, it's borderline delusional. Who's this car even marketed towards? People who have that kind of money to blow go for a full EV or purchase a plug in for the performance rather than the MPG. The market that actually wants a plug-in with great MPG aren't browsing in the 70-80k price range. We're seeing more and more manufactures charge X2 the price of what cars are actually worth.
What planet are you living on? A like for like PHEV crossover from BMW, Mercedes, Volvo or even Ford are all in the same price range or more expensive.
That’s what I’m saying! 70k???!! Like I get it’s a Lexus but that’s full EV territory imo
Yeah its supposed to compete againsta the x5 & GLE plug in but size wize it is a but undersized for the class
@@snowfox7739 you’re putting it like a full EV would justify a higher price. How is a full EV better? It depends on your driving profile. If you do exclusively short/city trips, sure, you‘re better suited with an EV and you can go for the RZ. You do longer trips consistently and drive on vacation 2x a year? I wouldn‘t pick an EV for that.
@@filipjncbut they’re far superior and significantly faster and a lot more luxurious
I want the rx 450h+ that being said the nx version is about 10k less
I love it 😘
It letdown by CVT gearbox 😢
Rx is just getting better and better .overall miles better than gv80 mdx and more. Cant wait until korean fan boys posting dumb comments
I agree it's not worth it. I got the 350h in Premium plus loaded for about $60K. I would never make up $10k plus in gas savings. I'm getting 35-40 mpg per tank.
It‘s not as black and white. For me it was about not having to warm up the engine when I go grocery shopping (2 miles far) or to the gym (1 mile far). Also, when stealth camping, you can charge at day and have the AC/heating all night long on any weather.
@@filipjncYeah. I think you are making the most of hybrid vehicle. Plus if you take long trips and go on more adventures, you will get gas savings around 10k in about 5years
Yea but you don’t get to enjoy the latest tech and enjoy life. 😈 it’s totally worth it to get the top, Loaded model.
Excellent
Round but prefer the mid trim.
Hi Kirk, do you know if the TX550h+ will qualify for the tax credit? Thanks for all that you do! 🙏
I doubt it since battery will be made in Japan more than likely

@@MYLIFEISLEGENDARY936.
Easy
- exterior - nowhere near as universally attractive as a gv80 MDX aviator xt6 cx90 xc90 lc500 telluride palisade
- interior - not luxurious even the slightest bit. It uses injection molded plastics throughout. No RX offers a leather dashboard or full leather doors. And no injection molded plastic is not the same as leather. All the competition offers leather dashboard, leather doors, metal speaker grilles and lots of wood trim
- features - lacking a lot. No massaging seats, no 4 zone climate control, no air suspension, no large lcd cluster etc
- powertrains - 3 of of them are used in the rav4 and highlander. The 500h powertrain is also used in the grand highlander
- interior space - the rear legroom is a bit less than a Camry at 37.4 inches even though the RX has a one inch longer wheelbase than a Camry.
- handling - drives like a rav4 because it’s based off one. I know you’re going to say it drives better than a rav4. No it doesn’t. It just doesn’t. You can put all the Taylor swift lipstick you want on it. You can coat all the suspension components in 24k gold. And you can give it an adaptive suspension that adjusts in 1000 different modes. And it’ll still drive like a rav4.

Very very expensive, the starting MSRP on this should be no more than $52k.
Just pulling prices out of your butt?
Why would I want a Plug-In Hybrid .... Where is the Plug?... Home_$$$ Next_Stop??? ... Why do I want a Plug-In-Hybrid... Thanks
Not worth it
Why don’t Lexus develop a better transmission instead of the over sized elastic band cvt. that is my reason for not buying Lexus plus my Mazda CX 60 phev is fully loaded £5 -£10 k cheaper than loaded NX.
The RX is simply way too expensive.
70k 🤢 hell no
70k hell yes .
This things flat out DOA. Overpriced, only 300hp, horrible performance, economy car handling (since it’s based off an economy car), ugly exterior, Toyota grade interior, lacking features, useless tech, cramped seats, small trunk, no tax credit and guaranteed markups. This cannot be categorized as a luxury car
Xc90, xc60, x5xDrive45e, cx90 PHEV, grand Cherokee 4xe, and aviator grand touring are all superior to this dressed up rav4. And I don’t even have to drive it to make that verdict.
Try using your reliability argument and watch it quickly fall flat on your face. Reliability less of a concern at this point. If reliability matters, you buy a corolla Prius or Camry. Not a luxury car
Sales will tell…
@@mrgurulittle7000 sales ≠ best in class
@@naveenthemachine For sure. But it would show how many people prioritize reliability over “best in class”. Most people don’t need 0-60 in 3 seconds and 300hp is more than plenty for an all-rounder with luxury features.
