Thank you for making this, David! What perfect timing, I'm making my own webcomic using Krita, today I finished watching your "Comic Page from A to Z" and downloaded the perspective star you linked there. That was really nice because I really really need help with perspective, I struggle with that. And then I saw you made these! Can't wait to use them for my comics. Thank you very much!
I hope a future version of Krita will allow you to draw off canvas like photoshop, so I can easily create my own grids on demand in the program. For my last art piece, I used Toon Boom Harmony to make my grid, then imported it into krita to paint my artwork.
The resources are great! But I'd also highly suggest people try the built-in assistants and see if they work for them. They have a feature which would work well with your technique of sketching boxes, in which you can use the attached "arms" on an assistant to align them to an object already in perspective (like a box) and the program will automatically align the point to where it should be. Also, in Krita 5.0 (in beta as of Sept 2021), they seem to have added a feature to mask perspective assistants to certain areas of the screen for use in comics. Love your style of illustration! Detailed and atmospheric, but things are still very clean, vibrant, and readable. I'm in awe off how much you've produced and the quality of it.
Hey, thanks. Yes, the work on the new perspective assistant (with frame boundaries) in Krita 5 was mainly motivated by this video and a design I published in 2013 ( www.davidrevoy.com/article159/design-ideas-for-a-new-krita-perspective-tool ). I beta-tested the new assistant during all the process. I'll update the video once Krita 5 is released for sure. Thanks a lot for communicating about this new tools (I hope they'll be adopted) and for your nice words on my art!
Daviiidd~~ I want to thank you for making these Krita videos! You are the solid rolemodel that i have for any artist who use Krita. You helped me transition from a very old version of Paint Tool Sai, to Krita! xD and i'm loving it~ of course i'm still quite slow at it with the new UI but so far the experience have been pleasant
I like your tutorial , do you sketch your then import it to krita ? plus i wanted to know how do you make book covers for your comic is there a tutorial for that?
Hi David I am curious to know that when you do thumnail ideation of a comic page ..do you lightbox it to refine your sketches on a final drawing ...like here the pencilled panels look quite clean . So how do you go from rough to refined sketches when working traditionally with pencil on paper.
On this video, the pencil were done with my tablet and Krita. So, in this case, I used only layers. But for the episodes I made on paper I used another technique: you'll see it here: www.davidrevoy.com/article309/making-of-episode-11
Hey, sure. Their name are "Painting assistant" but are limited to one perspective system by canvas (so impossible to get mulitple one for a comic page) and it affects the performance of painting. Also, you can't deform them, or tweak their color easily and their visibility is obstrusive imo. Btw, all this information, I tell them in the video. ;-)
Hey, I'm not on this platforms because I disagree with their term of uses (abusive in my opinion about copyright management). I have my own website www.peppercarrot.com/ and I also use drivethrucomics to self-publish the printed comic; you'll find the link on the "Shop" menu of my website :-) You'll find Pepper&Carrot also published by regular external publishers.
Hey, it's not a plugin or something to install. Just extract the zip file somewhere; and then you can drag and drop the file on your canvas; they are just picture with transparency. Have fun!
Auncune sur cette chaine, mais ça arrive de trouver des confs ou je fais des démo en Français. Malheuresement un peu anciennes à présent à cause de la pandémie et pas beaucoup d'évenement en présentiel depuis 2 ans.

@@DavidRevoy thanks David , That's so helpful. Love your art !
I don't know why but I understand very easily what you're saying
Ah oui je sais pourquoi
😄
Hehe! 😇
Nice job.
I don't have mesh deform on my Krita though alas.
is this a plug-in?
Thank you! Mesh deform is a feature part of Krita 4.2.2 (released on 19 January). Maybe you are using an older version?
This feature is quite new, you probably need to update Krita to 4.4.2
@@WojtekTrybus Thanks, will the update do any bad things to older .kra files?
@@DavidRevoy Thanks, will the update do any bad things to older .kra files?
@@Retro-Future-Land don't worry. No changes in your files and configuration should happen.
Awesome. Thanks for this :)

Thank you 👍
awesome, thanks!!
krita have build in perspective helpers, have you compared using it to your templates?

@@DavidRevoy Oh. I didn't realize that it was supposed to go on the canvas. Thanks!
Thanks!
