I have an infant son, and discovered quite by accident that when he won't stop crying, this is the only thing that will calm him down and help me put him to sleep. Thank you for singing it this way, and thank you for posting it.
I was listening to this when my wife asked me to go borrow a couple eggs from our neighbor…long story short, I have expanded our lands, and our neighbors home is now my own, we shall never want for eggs again.
Hey man, DON'T SPOIL THAT! I'm so glad I've been taken by surprise before reading this comment. The music starts well designed since the very beginning but you cannot expect what's coming later. And I can tell you, it stuns you completely when it happens suddenly. I mean each and every twist that happens later.
I am from Iceland. and Egill Skallagrímsson (the viking who wrote the original poem) is actually one of my ancestors. Although I can't help butt feel like something is missing in the translation to english, I'll be damned if this isn't the most beautiful version I have ever heard of this song! Thank you very much!
@@obcl8569 It is not really THAT impressive. In ages past Iceland had a small population, usually didn't go far above 50.000 people. I usually do not need to go more than 6 or 7 generations back to find a connection to any of my friends, for example. So when the person in question is from about a thousand years ago, I would not be surprised if more than half the nation can trace their lineage back to Egill (who we all learn about in school, so he would be a popular example).

Even though I've never met her, and never will, she was with me-in Mali, in Ukraine, in Poland, in Latvia. May the gods bless all the soldiers of good.
My mother told me has always been something I enjoy listening to, then I hear this and I remember why I listen to it.
