Japan is far more safe, fun, convenient and affordable than most cities in America! We enjoyed visiting Japan the most!

Japan is truly fascinating. Cost of living aside, I think the wide range of activities that one can do plus the many beautiful places that are available to see can make up for what ever cons you can think of.

The total spendings were $155 but that already included $40 of medicine and $60 of clothes (which we aren't likely spending daily) so the real daily expenditures are only $55 or 8000 JPY (or A$80), with accommodation.
Compared to Sydney where A$80 might be unable to get you a night in a hotel...

I have spent two big holidays in Japan traveling to a number of city's and I can say its far cheaper eating out and getting around in Tokyo & Kyoto then New York & London & I was on a tight budget and I was spending around $30 PER-DAY including food and local train travel, I also planned my holiday very well in advance & The only expensive part was the fight form the UK so Planning & Researching is the key👍✌⛩👘👘👘😊

At Narati Airport you can pick up a phone card which works as a live street map it cost about$20 for 4 weeks & it won't cost your phone network meaning you won't be able to use your phone. Aside from the fact that you're not going to spend $40 daily on creams, I'd say the food and transportation is pretty fairly priced. Although you only ate at restaurants which ofc will be more expensive than actually making your own food.

$160 a day. That adds up to $1100 a week, or $4480 a month. And about $53000 a year. Convert that to yen (jpy) it's about 7,843,280.40. no wonder they say Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities to live in.

If seems like if I save $100 USD begining January for every check I get, would that be enough for a December Trip for like 7 days while sleeping in the First Cabin's, and simply walking around, and when I get hungry, simply go to that same resturant a few times? ( I want to make my first trip to Japan a "Test Run/Week-End Getaway" ) type of feeling before going all out in a 14 day stay. Jus the idea of only having 7 days to do a little bit of things is exiciting as it is. Though, I gotta check when is the best months to go when it's not as many tourist, and even more affortable because why not? OR I may just set aside $200 per check, and have about $5200 to budget with? Maybe $4000 if I substract 6 nights at a Cabin, then the flight to japan, and back to america...and other things...I may just have $1000-$2000 to spend...just throwing out ideas...I'm seriously looking into this.

Funny to see the difference in prices. Western europe would be around 2 to 3x more expensive including travel costs. Except for the clothing when you go to larger chains. South europe is cheaper to eat out but the rest almost the same as the west. Cool video - thanks!

A 7 day budgeted trip to Tokyo (if you budget well and plan what you want to do ahead) is relatively cheap.
A week trip in Tokyo (just Tokyo, no other city travel like Kyoto or Osaka or hironshima. Just Tokyo) will cost $3,000 (budgeted) to $5,000 (expensive) American dollars.
So traveling to Japan is not that expensive, especially if you plan a head of what you wanna do.
Also, if you do want to travel to different cities (skipping Tokyo completely), flying landing in Osaka is the best option.
For a week you can travel from Osaka to Kyoto and to Nara pretty easily and costs about the same as the Tokyo trip I mentioned above. $3,000 to $5,000 for all 3 cities in 1 week. (Osaka, Kyoto, Nara)
I calculated and trips only gets expensive when,
a.) when you spend 2 weeks or more in Japan
b.) travel far distances, like from Tokyo to Osaka to Kyoto to Nara to through Osaka to Hiroshima then back to Tokyo to fly home.
If you do one spot/city at a time then the trip is cheap. :)
      Hope this helps.
