I live in NW Ireland which is much wetter than where you are! I have a huge outside line which I use when I can. If not I have a pulley line in the garage, a Lakeland dryer and an ordinary one. I don't put conditioner in my towels. I rarely use my tumble dryer but do stick newly washed and dried towels on a cool cycle. 5 to 10 minutes is plenty.

Still not got my heating on either. 😁 Never use conditioner on any of my washes. Am I weird? And if I'm honest I rather like my towels a bit scratchy 😂 I feel like they dry better.

When I was a child we didn’t have a ton of money and used towels for a long time so they’d often get a bit worn and rough or somewhat threadbare. When I had my own house I bought the biggest fluffiest towels and then I thought wait, these don’t dry?!? 😂

Thankyou, very helpful video. We have our tumble dryer in our living room. We use it as a heater when it's on! Not putting radiator on properly yet.

I don’t have a tumble dryer and have never owned one, we’re lucky we live in a ground floor flat as we have the balcony above to keep our laundry dry from whatever weather xx

I use 1/4 cup of vinegar for all washings! I don’t use softener on my towels! Your washer filter will not be nasty! I started using vinegar on my clothing started with Covid! Which was made in the biowarfare in Langley ! Then sent to the cdc in Atlanta then cdc wuhan!

I feel like I'm the only one putting it on, it's too damp lately to dry outside and no room inside to dry full loads so it's been on pretty much every day for weeks
Bills aren't too scary yet xx

Vinegar is more likely to damage the metal in the washing machine than the seals but if you're just using a half cup with 14 to 25 gallons of water depending on whether you using a front load or a top load washer I think it's sufficiently diluted to not matter.

Git rid of the tumble dryer as it was being used as a cupboard anyway lol 😆 I've invested in a heated airer from lakeland instead.

I have to air dry all my clothes and shaking them into submission after wash and once dry significantly softens them kinda like tumbling in the dryer towels don’t get as soft but clothes soften up a lot from vigorously shaking them towels also softened but they are still crisp until used then they are fine but you could keep shaking and ruffing them up
To get a softer result or brush them

Hi Gemma, putting the towels on an extra spin (for the win!) has been a god send. I've started using vinegar a couple of weeks ago instead of fabric conditioner and its fab! I dry them on an airer near the radiator when its wet weather and the vinegar and extra spin has really sped up the drying and kept them soft! 😁

Thank you so much for your help on fluffy soft towels and flannels. I have never owned a dryer or used fabric softener and find washing laundry in smaller loads, shaking out well and hanging up on coat hangers plus smoothing out with hands, means shirts etc don’t need ironing.

A cup of vinegar, not the cup, the liquid😂. I enjoyed that.

Trouble with all these YT vids on this subject, they all contradict each other. Some are American, and use machines with different programmes to UK, some use products we don't have here, Some are for maintaining fluffyness, some are for removing the rough and scratchyness, some deal with HARD water , other's never mention it etc etc, P.S Baking Powder , yes or no.?
