Dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can stream pretty much all of the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. Been watching with my brother for the last couple of months xD
i was right there, at the front all day .Henry was baiting us British fans like fuck. It was fantastic. people around me were getting well pissed off with him, they just didn't get him or his humour. i loved it though. one of the most memorable live performances I've ever seen.
He is a beast. He have gone full beast mode in this performance. An animal. A force of nature. … and he probably saved my life doing so. Thank you, man. I owe you one.
I love the slow beautiful music leading into the brutal "Liar" sections. When we discuss the greatest rock bands I think Rollins Band is rarely mentioned, but this band put out some really amazing music. (My favorite is "All I Want".) And the live performances prove what great musicians they are.
Of course the crowd ‘got it’ it’s classic British humour and H knows it! And he would be gutted if he didn’t get ‘you fat bastard’ chanted back to him lovingly and with clear deep irony. Great showman. Poet. Lyricist. Human being.
I was there. Meeting Henry in the press area, I introduced myself to the artist, asking, "Hello, Mr Rollins, may I take a photo"? I still have that photo, although after 29 years I'm not sure where it is? He was an imposing figure. Having seen the band on the preceding tour, at Leicester's De Monfort Uni (post-Polytechnic), in the photographer's pit, I witnessed a superb performance, closer than anything I had at Reading. Henry Rollins is one great performer. It is ingrained in my memory.
fucking hell what a performance. rollins is a beast, a force of nature he is HENRY fucking ROLLINS - you can not put him in a niche, class, category or whatever. there will never be another man like him. the only human being i really look up to. thanks man!
Fantastic! The video and recorded version is a great message to women looking for a relationship and wondering why they're getting jerked around (and visa-versa), and this message is probably most artists actual feelings for their audience.
I remember this, when he said all your j rotton records go pale. Wildhearts were the loudest band I've ever seen played that day. Best fest I've seen. RHCP/ Soundgarden/ Rollins, brilliant.
@@hahndrang I couldn't remember Soundgarden tho they are on the poster, i thought maybe cos i wasnt into them, but they didn't play so all is clear now thanks.
I was there, so surreal watching this amazing performance in the afternoon. Everyone around me was laughing at Henry taking the piss out of us and leaping about. Something else, maaaan!
Damn, that song never fails to send shivers. It's one of the most important and passionate songs/performances in music history. He really went all out on this one. I've heard some live ones when he didn't really go all out with that raspiness in his voice like it was shredding his vocals. Not this one though.
Who else remembers The Beat? What a brilliant show that was. Why the f*** doesn't any UK tv channels have any music shows anymore aside from Jools Holland which for me is always rather tedious. Thanks for sharing this Travis!
Kind of makes me sad that an English crowd couldn't get Rollins' sardonic sense of humour... How can they have missed the whole point of the song?! He's exposing the malignant narcissists mind.
What I loved about it was that those that were upset with him thought he was speaking directly to them....but he was also part of a song that was being played. Maybe it was too much for some people minds and they thought there were multiple levels of performance going on at once.
I was in that crowd, (nearly) everyone totally got it!! The 'you fat bastard' thing is part of the joke! The British get this kind of humour way better than most.
ahhh man..those fuc-ing amazing gigs in the 90's with that crazy crowd...... Rollins live was a beast, no easy to explaine so fuc-king hilarious all the intro to the song , man 😅 what a legend and crazy guy This video is perfect - such an iconic moment of the 90's - at the sunset, the crowd, everything perfect - I was at Reading festival the year after, 1995, and it was also fantastic - i guess all the editions from 1990 to 1995 were some of the best festival ever, with legendary acts at the top of of their career
When he sings he's at his most real. "Waiting for a long time forever. Because everything I say is everything that you've ever wanted to hear. I'M A LIAR." That's an introvert talking, that knows that no one really identifies with him. Keep on thinking that you get him. But the reason that you like him is probably because you don't get him.
He told my whole life story... Lonely, ugly, loser. Than at 21 I found that one girl, who told me everything and more and believed it all, than she walked out without a care in the world after 5 years of lying, left me scarred for life as she was way outta my league. I should've known after a lifetime of being the ugly duckling and not even able to get the ugly chicks, than this beautiful, smart, funny girl comes along and makes me believe I'm all that, which is a dangerous thing to do to someone who's really ugly cause people will walk out at slightest show of confidence or ego... And yes my friends even stopped talking to me... What im saying is if someone comes along and it seems too good to be true it probably isnt
Me & my brother remember Rollins performance that day & the energy he shot in to the crowd! & it got the Mosh pit fired up!. If you take yourself. seriously your yonna get offended!! "Do you get it yet sucker" Happy Days..
Omg immense!! Very late getting to this one. Hahaha he's such a great performer. Where he turns the victory sign into the f you sign and laughs after it!! He dragged me in again with his apology about his off hand remarks only to turn it straight back round in such an evil way. Made me laugh so much!! Thanks Henry!
Hahahahaha!!! I love this band, saw them live and it blew me away. Not long after that I was shocked he called out one of my favorite artists and slagged him off so in putting aside my abhorance of waste and deforestation...i'm sorry you missed him, that would have been hilarious! And no, i'm not a Henry hater, but I have a feeling he gets off on being arrogant.
Mmmm drinking the tears of haters, so sweet! I have no reason to lie nor do I care if people don't believe me. I know it happened, my friends who were there ith me know it happened and frankly that's enough for me 😁 enjoy your jealousy and hate. I shall enjoy the memory as I sip at the jug of your tears 🍺🤣
@@CindyBarg I think Henry, though arrogant, feeds off of the thought that people believe his arrogance is as inflated as it's perceived. If that makes sense haha. He certainly doesn't pull any punches in voicing his opinion, not from what I've seen anyway. As you said though, they're a great band!
i thought it was hilarious how the guy said "we're gonna keep our foot hard on the accelerator now" and then they cut it at arguably the most chaotic part of the song

My first ever music festival- such a great lineup that day - Helmet, Jesus Lizard, Senser, Rollins Band, Therapy, Chilli Peppers. Good times!
Ah... Therapy? Fuck, that brings back some memories. Not repressed ones 😂
